Deb's sister was safe in the hands of doctors, I sat by my husband through the hours of him coming off his anaesthetics. There was no sign of Deb after his escaping stunt.
By the time my hubs was discharged and we came back to our home, I saw Deb come in and say, "I'm really sorry that I left without informing you guys! It was a family emergency."
"Emergency indeed!", I whispered in my mouth.
"Excuse me?", Deb asked.
"Nothing important. Thanks for all the work you did for us. I have called in my cousin to help us out. He's going to stay with us!", I replied.
And by the time I finished his car was in sight. The colours on Deb's face changed to a deadly white.
"Well, now that there's somebody to help you! Let me bid adieu!", he said in a hurry to leave.
"No! Wait! He's bringing us dinner. We can all have some good food, talk about ourselves!", I replied.
And my hubs agreed with it.
But I knew his real reason for escape. My cousin used to work in the same garage, the real Deb worked in. And I knew, he would recognize Deb in a jiffy. Or atleast keep Deb out of our lives until things get better for us.
My cousin is my best friends husband. And she's been out for her sister's baby shower. They were the first people who loved me like their family, gave me shelter , gave me a job and helped me find my perfect partner.
He came in hugged us both and said," Hey mate, that guy who ran out looked familiar."
"He's Deb! His(husband's) manager!", I replied.
"Oh! Not possible..Deb died a few years ago. He was in this horrible car crash. His girlfriend recognized him!", he said.
"Oh dear..he must be somebody with the same name!", hubs replied.
Well, I knew with the coming of my cousin and Deb being in the same town, I could get to the bottom of the truth of who is or was Deb. And if he is an imposter then why did he get rough with me?
