Chapter 2 - Chapter 002: Another World

"Tenoch peer, peer!"

"Ut to'j winuppch emoninv tij ochoj?"

'Huh…? Huh? Where am I? Who are these people…?'

There were 2 people looking down at him, one woman and one man, both looking to be in their 20's. Hayate felt oddly shorter and overall just felt strange, he did not feel like he was in his own body.

He looked around and noticed something.

'I really am shorter?! Wait…Am I a baby?!'

"Toch htoko pihhpo Bec!"

'What are these people saying? That's definitely not Japanese!'

He looked around the room some more but then the woman picked him up and started kissing him on his stomach.

"Xe chea piro htuh?"

'I don't think I've ever heard a language like that…Maybe if I say something?' "Waah…Waaahh!" 'Huh?! I can't control my voice?! Are you serious right now?!'

He started squirming around to try and break free of the woman's hold but then she in turn changed how she was holding him. She held him in a cradle with her arms and rocked him side to side.

'I think this just solidified it…I think I really am a baby…Yet I have a complete conciseness…Wait…Could I have been reincarnated?! The last thing I remember was being pushed in front of the train, I must have reincarnated somewhere…But where…?'

He accepted the fact that he was being cradled and decided to just think through his possible choices.

'I guess first order of business would be learning this language. That is my first and highest priority. That should help with how my future will be planned out and how I'm going to have to do things. I also can't look suspicious…I guess I'll figure it out as I go along.'

The entire day was spent with him being hugged and catered to. During that time another person had appeared, it was a girl who seemed to be 4 or 5 years old. Hayate gave everyone the role he thought they fit, the woman as his mother, the man as his father and the young girl as his older sister.

'That sorts out family relations…Hm, I wonder what my actual family is doing right now…Now that I think about it how long has it been since I died? What's the possibility that I didn't get reincarnated instantly? There's too many odds, I'll have to figure out what happened and how this was even able to be possible.'

For about a week he managed to learn a great many things. For one he learned that the place they were in, which he most likely thought was his house, was not built very well. He also learned that food is scarce and that he and his family can't eat much. He learned the season he believed it to be and made the guess that it was the beginning of something similar to fall. There was also no other buildings near them, the closest building and town appeared to be about a half mile walk from where they were right now. The most recent of his discoveries was that he believed that he may be in another world, there was no technology to be found anywhere and everything just appeared to be from Feudal Europe.

'If it's medieval times we must be peasants…Actually we seem even worse off then your average peasant family…Don't tell me I got reborn into a broke family and that I won't be able to do anything…'

Their meals mostly consisted of cold watered down vegetable soup, most of the time the vegetables seemed to be optional. They didn't even have easy water access, the closest well was nearly 3 quarters of a mile. They always had 2 pales of water handy in case of emergency but only collected water occasionally and that led to a decrease in his original daily bathing. Since his bringing into this world, he has yet to even be bathed once and he can't do it himself since he's a newborn.

'So I'm probably going to smell pretty bad…I wonder if this world even has soap…I think after I learn the language, my next priority should be getting a job so I can actually buy stuff that'll make my life easier.'

He continued living his days and after a month he was finally able to bathe. When he felt the cold water hit his body he didn't care that it wasn't warm, he only cared that maybe the smell would be covered up even if only by a little.

'This may not be heaven but this is better then hell! That's all I care about!'

He gained a daily routine and did just about the same thing every single day. He was still only a month old so he couldn't actually do much because of this very apparent fact. His current schedule consisted of him trying to learn the language and discovering more about the world he was in. This went on for about 5 more months and by then Hayate had learned 2 things, his new name was Bec Betas and had also learned the language a little which let him know his name was Bec.

'Why is the language so complicated? Even though it's been half a year I only know a small bit…I've always sucked with learning foreign languages, maybe that's why I'm having trouble. Haaaa….But I have to do it! Don't give up yet!'

Even though it's been 6 months since he had arrived, he had yet to step foot in the settlement he always saw in the distance. It was Winter so he hoped that by Spring he would be able to go to it.

'Man the seasons feel way longer now…I wonder if they really are…'

He went outside and collected some snow so that it could melt into water for future use. The water wasn't the cleanest so he put together a poorly built strainer and used that whenever he had to melt snow.

'It's probably not going to last after this winter but it'll do for now, if I had metal this would have been a lot better…I hope the wood doesn't rot faster then expected…'

After 3 more months Winter had become Spring and everything was growing beautifully.

'Man winter was almost 5 months long! I guess the seasons really are longer…Wait, how long is a year then? I guess I'll know when my birthday comes.'

Bec was now 9 months old and found a way to sneak out of the house so he could visit the town in the distance. He'd been wanting to go there since he first saw it but his parents wouldn't let him and he didn't know why since he couldn't understand what they were saying fully. He had gotten much better with understanding the language but didn't understand it fully yet.

When morning came he went to his secret hole that led outside and that made it so he wouldn't make any sounds and got out safely. He crawled and walked all the way there but by the time he got there he was completely out of breath.

'I guess this body isn't quite ready to go this far…'

After catching his breath he continued into the town and by this point it was probably around the time of 10 in the morning. He went down an alley and watched the people walk by, he thought it was best if a young child didn't go wandering into the streets. He was watching for one thing and that was everyone's hair color. He wasn't sure why but he was born with light gray colored hair and he was hoping that he wasn't the only one with gray hair but everyone had either blonde, red, brown or black hair.

'Does this mean I'm strange or something? I hope this doesn't effect how people think of me…Maybe it's because I'm from another world…Still I did what I wanted to do, should probably head back before everyone worries about me.'

He crawled back to his house where he continued with his daily routine and was scolded for wandering away. His days continued moving forward and began to blend together. After 9 more moths of doing the same thing every day he finally got tired of it. He was now 18 months old but still wasn't considered a year old, he learned that a year in this world was 20 months long compared to his original 12 and so it would still be 2 more months until he was considered a year old.

'It's interesting how this world has the same way of creating a month, both worlds based them on the moon phases…Guess humans think alike even when they're so far away from each other…'

The first thing he did to change his schedule was start a small farm far away from the house so his parents wouldn't find out about it.

'It's only summer for a little longer but maybe I can get something out of it. Maybe this world has a different style of farming…'

He had created his new schedule and continued sneaking out of the house so he could work on his farm but after only a month of work he was discovered. His father appeared behind him one day and he was scared of what would happen to him.

"So what are you doing, Bec?"

"I was growing plants…"

"Hm, really now?"

He looked down at the farm and smiled softly before picking Bec up.

"You're such a smart boy! How'd you come up with the idea to do this?"

"I don't really know…"

"I guess you're just gifted with knowledge!"

He started ticking Bec on the stomach causing him to laugh and he was put back down again.

"You even chose plants good for growing in fall and winter! Now I just seem stupid since I couldn't pick up the concept of farming until I was 5, haha…I can't believe I'm being outmatched but my son. Hey, why don't I help you out?"

"Thank you dad!"

His father began helping him with the farming and after a much faster time then Bec was used to, they were finished for the caring for today.

"Well that's a good days work! Want to head back, your mom should be prepping lunch around now."

"Mm!"

"Okay!"

He picked Bec up and carried him on his shoulders. After about a minute they reached the house and his sister and mother were eating bread, which was the first time he had seen bread in this world.

"Hi honey! Look at what I managed to get!"

"How'd that women manage to get bread?"

Colin put Bec down and walked over to Cliu and she then gave him some bread. Bec also walked over and was given some bread. He bit down on it to find it being hard.

'Stale! Then again what was I expecting? We're dirt poor, it's a miracle we were even able to get this…'

His family enjoyed the bread even if it was severely stale but it filled their stomachs so they were all happy.

'I wouldn't mind if my life stayed as slow as it is now…As long as I choose to enjoy it, I think I could get used to this lifestyle…'
