Bec woke up to be greeted with his family with all smiling faces and he soon realized what day it was. He had officially turned 1 year old.
"Happy birthday!"
His sister jumped onto him to give him a hug and she soon got off of him. His father and mother both hugged him before holding out a hole filled wooden box. They put into his lap and Bec took off the lid to find an old book with a torn leather cover. He opened it to find writings he had no idea had to read. He looked up at his family who were smiling at him softly as he opened his mouth.
"Thank you! I've been wanting to learn how to read!"
"It's great that you like it."
His family's faces seemed to become more relaxed after Bec's announcement of wanting to read.
'I guess this must of cost a lot to buy…Thank you…'
"Alright!"
Colin picked Bec up and put him onto his shoulders before walking out of the house and headed to the town that Bec had only barely visited once. Colin talked with the guards for a bit before brining Bec into the town for his true first time. He looked around, this time not focusing on people's hair color and instead looking at everything it had to offer.
"Hey if it isn't Colin and Cliu! I see you brought your kids!"
Colin put Bec down as he began to walk through the town looking through all the different stalls and shops tangent with the single street. Bec's parents were talking with the person who had called out their names so he was by himself since Horette stayed with them.
There were people buying or selling goods some haggling the prices he could even see some older kids swiping some food from stalls. He saw kids playing with wooden swords as they struck over and over again until one fell down and the other helped them back up. In the sky there were kites of all sizes and colors some tied to hands while others to poles. He reached a space that had the path split off into multiple directions but one drew him even more then the rest. He could hear cheers and clapping so he went to see what it was. He pushed through the crowd as best as he could and when he reached the front he had the first encounter with one of the most life changing things he's seen…Magic.
It was a festival of sorts where people of all kinds were showing their skills and entertaining the people of the town. Some were using fire to make brilliant shapes while others jumped through the fires. There were people controlling puppets with no strings only controlling them with changing winds. There were people making statues out of the earth or summoning flowers to give to young children. The music was being provided by a single person playing multiple instruments at once with some being far out of his reach.
Bec couldn't believe what he was seeing. Throughout his whole time of being in this world the thought of magic actually being possible never crossed his mind. He was looking around the many performances with a massive smile on his face. One of the performers entered the middle of the circle that formed around them and began to call something out.
"Can I have a volunteer?"
"Me!" "I'm over here!" "Choose me!" "Hey!"
People from the group were yelling out all over and the performer eventually pointed his finger over in Bec's direction. The people who were around him looked down, smiled and pushed him out a bit further where the other performers grabbed him and brought him into the central circle.
"We have our volunteer!"
The crowd cheered and the main performer picked him up before throwing him up in the air. He then felt a massive pressure coming from under him as we was launched through the air all around, going through the many things the performers had created. The final push of air pushed him above the buildings making him able to see farther then he'd ever been able to see before. It was beautiful and changed his perception on what was going to be possible with his life. He knew for a fact…That he wanted to learn magic.
