Tetsuo Naru's POV
"Hey, Tetsuo? Can I ask you something?" Tatsumi asked, placing the book she was reading on her lap as she turns to look at me.
"Sure, what is it?"
"I've been meaning to ask this for a while now but I haven't got the chance to ask you." Tatsumi paused as she shifted her gaze, staring outside the window. The sun just set and it's rays in the horizon are letting off a red-ish orange hue in the sky, lighting up the clouds. "Why are you here?"
"Hmm? You mean why was I born?" I answered, clueless as to what she meant. I don't know if there's a line or sentence she read in the book that made her start philosophizing, asking questions like why I'm born. "Well, I believe that I was born because of a special reason like everyone else. You see, people aren't born for nothing, they are born because they have this special thing to do. These special things that we must do may be either for ourselves or for others. So, to simplify it, as I said earlier, I was born because there is something that I need to do." A smirk forms on my face as I look at Tatsumi, raising my eyebrows, waiting for her praise for the philosophical answer I gave for her question.
I was amazed after hearing what I said, this is the first time I ever said anything so philosophy like. I should apply as a philosophy teacher! I mean, if that's what they do.
"What the heck are you babbling on about?" Tatsumi asked as she looked at me, a mix of disgust and confusion forming on her face.
"W-well you asked why was I born, r-right?"
"You idiot!" Tatsumi said as she threw the book she was reading at me, hitting me on my nose. "That's not what I meant!"
"Ow!" I jolted, rubbing my nose. "Then what did you meant?"
"What I mean is---" Tatsumi stopped as she looked outside her window again, letting out a sigh before continuing. "What I meant was, what are you doing here? What are you doing in my life. You just suddenly appeared through that door, always stopping me from ending my life. I don't even know you but still, you kept on visiting me everyday, and everyday you're always on time, stopping me from ending my life." Tatsumi stopped as her eyes grew wide, as if something came to her mind. She suddenly turned her attention to me, turning her whole body around. "ARE YOU A STALKER!?" She yelled out, grabbing her pillow, using it to cover herself from me.
"WHAT!?" I yelled out in surprise, surprised that she came to that conclusion out of the blue. "HOW THE HECK DID YOU CAME TO THAT CONCLUSION!?"
"WELL ALL SIGNS POINT TO IT!!! YOU'RE ALWAYS ARRIVING ON TIME TO STOP ME! AND THE FACT THAT I DON'T KNOW YOU BUT YOU STILL KEPT COMING HERE!!!"
"THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT I'M A STALKER!!!"
"WELL WHAT DOES IT MEAN THEN!?" Tatsumi kept on screaming as she starts hitting me with her pillow, telling me to get out of her room as she kept screaming stalker.
"I'M NOT A STALKER!!!" I yelled back, grabbing the other pillow on her bed as I started hitting her back. Little did we know that two of us stopped yelling at each other and just started having a pillow fight.
Tatsumi started standing up on her bed as she kept on hitting me with her pillow while I placed the pillow I got in front of me, blocking the hits Tatsumi does with her pillow.
"Stalker! Stalker! Stalker! Stalker! STALKER!!!" Tatsumi yelled on repeat, saying them as she hits me with the pillow.
"How many times do I have to tell you!? I am not a stalker! And calling someone a stalker even though they are not a stalker is rude!"
"I don't care! Stalker! Stalker! Stalker! Stalker! Stalker! Stalk--- eep!" Tatsumi stopped as her feet slipped on the bed sheet, making her fall towards the windows. Her bed is 2 feet away from the windows, not far enough of a distance for her to miss crashing through them. The windows were closed so she won't fall down, but judging from the height she has standing on the bed along with the speed she is falling and the angle, the glass window will shatter, making her not only fall through but she will also receive cuts from the shattered window glass.
"Tatsumi!" I yelled out, throwing the pillow I was holding to the ground as I reach out my hands to grab her. The world suddenly went in slow motion as Tatsumi kept on falling towards the windows, and my heart beating loud as if every beat it lets out is a second that passes.
I was successful in grabbing her hand, stopping her from hitting the windows. The two of us were looking in each others eyes as my heart started beating faster, adrenaline kicking in as I feel the beat of my heart. I was breathing heavily as I have my left arm stretched out, my hand holding Tatsumi's hand, preventing her from crashing towards the windows. Tatsumi's head just inches away from the windows.
"Tetsu---oh!!!" Tatsumi's sentence was interrupted as her feet slipped once again on the bed sheet making her fall towards the floor on the other side of the bed near the windows, pulling my hand, making me fly towards her. Just as she was about to hit the floor, I came flying towards her, crashing my face against hers making a loud thud. And with that, I blacked out.
I don't know how long I was blacked out, but when I woke up, I was staring at the ceiling.
"You awake?" I heard a voice ask, it was Tatsumi's. "You know, you're a lot heavier than you look."
I slowly moved my head, trying to look for her. I don't know what's with me and always looking around for where voices are coming from, maybe it's my instincts?
As I moved my head, I felt this bouncy sensation, kind of like I'm lying on a soft cloud. I blink my eyes trying to understand what this sensation I am feeling on my head.
"It's soft, isn't it?" I heard Tatsumi's voice again. I turned my head to the side and there I saw her, lying besides me. "Aren't hospital beds soft?"
I felt my face turning red, blushing super mega ultra hard as her face was inches away from mine. Her face was so close that we nearly kissed!
"Gah!!!" I yelled out, jolting up and seeing that I was lying on Tatsumi's bed, besides her! Wait, did she carry me?
"Relax you big baby. I didn't touch you or something, you're still whole."
"W-why was your face so close to mine!?"
"How was I supposed to know that you would turn your head towards me!? And what do you mean why was my face so close to yours!? You were the one who kept on moving closer to my face when you were knocked out! I couldn't move away any further!"
I went silent as I strted processing what happened, Tatsumi's close face imprinted on my mind.
"Anyway, back to my question before we started pillow fighting, which we will never do again in the future! Thanks to that I now have this huge bump on my head!" Tatsumi said as she touched a bump her head. "Ow! Anyway, who are you? And why are you here?"
I stood still, motionless, thinking if I should answer honestly, thinking if I should answer her and tell her that Death sent me. "I-I.... I'm...." I can't seem to find the right words. My mouth shaking as I started thinking on how to answer her question.
Tatsumi looked at me as she waited for an answer. As I stood motionless, I felt my phone vibrate in my pockets. I took it out and I saw that Death sent me a message.
"Tell her. She won't freak out. Not that there is any reason for her to freak out or anything.
Love, Death."
I took a deep breath as I placed my phone back into my pocket.
"Well? Who are you? Why are you here?"
