Chapter 5 - Budgets

Every year, Travis made sure to review budget allocations for each guild department, and their submitted estimated incomes and expenses for the upcoming fiscal year. This was to ensure that each department had the funds to expand or to maintain their capital, supply and staff. They also needed to submit relevant information regarding what they wanted to purchase, from where and whom, and for what purpose.

It was a difficult and strenuous task that took a lot of planning and coordination, but it allowed Travis to make informed decisions regarding budget allocations. The funds were limited, so they had to go to the departments that would make the most out of them.

This, naturally, led to conflicts.

To Guild Master Travis Vorn, Evaidas Guild Branch, Department Administrator Theodore Blun, Triparte Guilds Financial Oversight Department, sends his greetings.

I write to request a revision of budget allocations for the upcoming fiscal year, specifically the budget allocation for my department.

The Triparte Guilds as an organisation receives more commissions every year. To effectively manage the ever-increasing inflow of commissions, our guilds must hire new staff, fund new projects, and scale its operations to manage more commissions. In doing this, my department, more than any other, faces the greatest need to expand in order to efficiently manage the finances of all the guilds across our kingdom. I have noted that my department will need at least twenty-five million (25,000,000) trinas for this fiscal year in order to expand in my department's capacity to do this, but your allocation has only allowed twenty million (20,000,000) trinas to our department. I urge you to reconsider the allotment and re-adjust as necessary.

Our guild has achieved an excellent reputation, and the greatest contributor to such a reputation is your administration. You have no doubt a sharp mind to have led the Evaidas Guild to its current state, and I am sure after serious reconsideration, you will allocate funds appropriately.

With kind regards,

Theodore Blun

Department Administrator, Evaidas Guild Branch, Triparte Guilds Financial Oversight Department

Travis scoffed. It would seem Administrator Blun thought he could worm his way into his good graces but showering him with compliments regarding his hard work and sharp mind.

Perhaps he wasn't clear enough in expressing that such behaviour was unacceptable and unbecoming of a man of Blun's station.
