Chapter 9 - Staff Skills Notes

In order to ensure the continued assurance of service quality in the Evaidas Guild, annual audits were conducted to ensure that all staff skills and productivity were up to standard. The standard was high. It was up to the Guild Master to ensure that these standards were met, and to immediately work towards correcting any deficiencies.

Most employees were permanently assigned to one specific job, but there were others assigned to a range of work within their department. There were also a few members of staff who were assigned to multiple departments on a rotating basis, those who had talent but did not know yet where to work best in. Travis had to ensure that the employees being rotated were actually fit for such duties to maintain efficiency in all departments.

To this end, he kept a record book of all his employees, their skills, and any relevant information regarding their work ethic, health and other important notes. These were updated each year after the audits, or when new information is presented regarding an employee's health. For example, his newest and youngest member, one sixteen-year-old Darla Imni:

Reception Duties:

Exceeds expectations given her age, familiar with range of reception duties. Keeps professional attitude when interacting with unruly adventurers. By the book, unwilling to go against protocol. Due to her age, unfamiliar with a range of quests and their specifications. Reliant on framework guide books rather than colleagues to field questions.

Janitorial Duties:

Shows competence with range of cleaning tools. Willing to work hard, though impatience causes her to miss key details, otherwise sufficiently thorough. Familiar with cleaning techniques, though shows clear disapproval of menial labour. Assign to other duties instead.

Warehousing Duties:

Good knowledge of warehouse maintenance, acceptable immediate knowledge of storage requirements for small range of materials. Insufficient physical strength due to lack of physical training, unacceptable lack of knowledge on proper lifting posture and technique. Unwilling to seek help unless offered. Assign small labour tasks, keep notice and pay attention to physical strain. Pair with Liam Smith for storeroom duties.

Accounting Duties:

Exceptional numeracy skill. Strong work ethic, very efficient with accounting work, though insufficiently cautious regarding double-and-triple-checking work to ensure minimal accounting errors. Encourage practising diligence in making additional checks. Pair with Lisa for accounting work.

Medical Duties:

Competent with basic medical techniques, though shows clear discomfort with blood and wounds, perhaps due to age. Assign to other duties.

Stable Duties:

Shows clear unfamiliarity with animalistic behaviours, lacking in animal-raising and animal-handling experience. Also shows clear dislike for animals, notable comments regarding odour. Assign to other duties.

End of Cycle Comments (Cycle 311 of Triparte):

As a young, intelligent and female employee, Darla takes great pride in her position and is eager to prove her competence, independence and reliability. Generally shows a strong work ethic. Keeps professional behaviour when age, lack of experience and gender are pointed out. Shows competence and preference for administrative and especially accounting duties, shows dislike for tasks requiring menial labour, particularly regarding stables and animals.

Following this report, he had promoted her to an Adventurer Promotions Handler. She was doing quite fine there, last he checked.
