The group then walks for a few minutes going through many massive steel doors that would probably stand up well even against a plasma cutter before a bored Colonel Rico says "Tell me the summarized version of this combat drone of yours."
"First off Colonel it's not a drone, the biomechanics team has made a tremendous breakthrough using a new type of metal we found that can "grow and evolve" it mimics a living being."
"Simply put we used this (living metal) to create a skeleton, then used the same living metal combined with nanotechnology to compose the (cells) and (body) or the frame and organs of the Android. This gives the Android a one of a kind regeneration capability to self repair as long as it's not completely destroyed down to the molecular level. The (brain) is a photon based quantum computer that is inter-linked with each nanobot, this gives it unparalleled processing capabilities."
"The (living metal) itself produces energy naturally and that powers the Android allowing it to be 100% autonomous from the burden of needing any type of fuel or external energy to recharge." Asclepius didn't actually know much about the Android and was just spouting off the cursory information he remembered.
The Colonel doesn't actually care about what he's hearing because he has never bothered to keep up with technology. He just learned what was required do his job. He is the type that leaves the thinking to those who are smart enough to get paid for thinking.
As such he stopped listening almost right away and soon they reach a more open area with a large hanger door that had a metal sign above it reading biomechanics. Asclepius undergoes a retina scan before the doors open up and they are inside a small workshop roughly 2400 square feet in size.
Along the way the team that was responsible for what was titled "Project Eve" had swiftly assembled and they were standing by waiting. Every member of the biomechanics team has some kind of robotic augmentation to the extent that it was impossible to even spot a normal looking human. A blend of robotic arms, legs, eyes and shiny chrome skull plates set the team apart from what could be considered (normal). This wasn't counting the extra robotic limbs and tubes some of the team members had sprouting from various parts of their body.
All around the workshop were drones, mechs, androids and metallic exoskeletons of all shapes and sizes scattered about almost haphazardly, besides that there were also all kinds of tools and wrenches, smelters and other equipment that seemed to have been custom made further cluttering up the area.
The smell of oil and metal hung so thick in the air that any normal human being would be left feeling greasy while at the same time there was no doubt the taste of metal would be left behind simply from breathing this viscous mixture of air, fuel and oil.
As Asclepius leads the way, the Colonel and his escort enter the workshop, Asclepius pulls out a small rebreather from one of his lab coat pockets and puts it over his face. Seeing this the Colonels disdain grows by a full measure for the doctor. Then he takes a look at the group assembled before him and the first thing he thinks is that this trip was definitely a waste of his time.
The biomechanic team reminded him of the Technopaganism cult. A religious group that believed that almost anything mechanical had a soul or spark as they called it. They worshiped something they called the "Machine God".
This cult plagued the Imperium by constantly dabbling in all manor of technology which usually didn't matter simply because most believers had no real ability to do anything. Some of the dumber or more desperate ones however caused a lot of problems. For example: a common issue with the cult was they would constantly blow themselves up in some failed project. Or they would mess up the power grid and end up dying by electrocution, but not before causing a blackout somewhere.
Nobody would care if the collateral damage didn't involve other people and their property but it almost always did. From the Imperium's view there was no official stance on Technopaganists. They were somewhere between a domestic terrorist organization and a official religion depending on who was asked.
Despite that there were a few who had real ability and made significant contributions towards humanity. These rare few were known as Technomancers. Due to their talent, the peculiarities that accompanied them were often overlooked and those who showed some promise early on were often drafted into the military. Thus the Colonel had no doubt the group in front of him was a cabal of Technomancers. Which only further annoyed him, as he had no care for machines beyond their practical use. Plus if these machine loving fanatics wanted to blow themselves up, the least they could do was take a few xenos to hell with them in his opinion.
"Where is this drone at?" The Colonel asked acidly while glaring at the assembled workers. Asclepius speaks up after a short moment later when nobody moved or responded. "Colonel Rico has heard about (Eve), and would like to know more information about your work."
"Why?" A man steps forward who appears to be more machine than human asks with a voice that sounds like it came from a loud speaker. His head was covered in metal with what looked like input ports where his ears should have been, both eyes were replaced with circular optics that glowed yellow. The lower half of his face was hidden by something that looked like a rebreather, on his neck was two tubes that ran down into his robes. From his back was a mechanical third arm that resembled a scorpions tail with how it hovered above him and at it's end there was a closed barb. The rest of him was hidden by the large black robe that he was wearing.
The pungent air in the room started to change to a burnt ozone smell after the man stepped forward and the clicking of different weapon systems cycling online could be heard...
