Jaxon couldn't believe it too, the entirety of yesterday felt like a dream, well after the picnic with Darian that is.
He had somehow managed to sleep the entire afternoon away, waking up slightly when Darian decided that it was time for them to return back to the Pack House.
He vaguely remembered Darian picking him up because somehow he was falling fast asleep, waking up only to sleepily eat dinner, after which he slept off once more.
The best part of it all was the fact that he did not feel even a bit tired like he was accustomed to feeling when he woke up each morning, instead he felt well rested.
"It's probably from overdosing on Mae's sleeping potions." He said jokingly as he entered the room.
Mae whipped around in horror at this, Shana giving him a look of disgust. "Plant juice can't do that." She said convincingly.
Mae's attention was caught by this, her initial horrified expression changing into one of betrayal and wrath. "What did you call my potions?"
"Mom!" Ruby called from where she stood on a high sturdy shelf, her voice high and excited. "Look at me!"
With those words, she leapt off the shelf, sending the three adults present into panic mode.
She landed on the bed though, Shana stopping her before she bounced off the bed.
"What is this about overdosing on my potions?" Mae narrowed her eyes after making sure that her daughter wasn't hurt.
"I was just joking." Jaxie clarified quickly because Mae was looking like she would like to smack him. "I even forgot to take them yesterday."
"Wow." Mae muttered with wide eyes, looking over Jaxon like she expected to see the side effects of him overdosing.
"I'll take Ruby down to the clinic, the others there keep begging me to bring her on a visit." Shana spoke up, getting up with Ruby and brushing down her tilted clothes and ruffled hair.
"Say bye to Uncle Jaxie now." She directed.
Ruby nodded seriously, calmer now after receiving a light scolding from her Ma. "Bye Uncle Jaxie." She mumbled, spreading out her arms as an invitation for a hug.
Jaxon stepped forward, crouching so that she could properly hug him, a big smile on his face when she patted his head.
Still with that serious expression of hers, she went back to Shana and held out her hand like she was the older one.
"Are you okay?" Mae asked quietly after her mate and daughter had left.
Jaxon stepped forward to the opened suitcases to continue packing from where Shana and Mae had left off from. "Yeah." He replied absently, busying himself so that he didn't have to look Mae in the face.
Mae made a face at this but shrugged, she had been the one to stop her mate from interfering in her brother's love life, it wouldn't be right if she ended up doing just that.
"I brought a fresh supply of potions, seeing as you'll be away from the Pack for a while." She beamed.
Jaxon looked surprised at this, all the tension bleeding out of his stiff shoulders as the conversation went back into familiar territory. "Thanks."
"I'll need to do a routine check up so go clean up while I finish up here." She shooed him, taking the shirt he had been folding from his hands.
Packing up the rest of Jaxon's things didn't take long and Mae retired to the living room when she was done, to wait for him to finish up in the bathroom.
She wasn't surprised to see that he was yet to pack for a trip that was that morning, it was exactly something that he would do.
She thankfully didn't have to wait long because she was sure that Shana and Ruby would wait for her and she didn't want to keep them waiting.
The check up session was short and she was immensely pleased that his sleeping conditions seemed to be improving.
"I don't have to remind you to not forget to take your potions… as a matter of fact," She cut herself up, already preparing to leave. "I'll just tell Darian and Leon, at least I can trust those two with that."
Jaxon pouted at this, looking affronted. "What do you mean by that?" He grumbled.
Mae was unruffled by his act. "You just literally told me that you forgot to take them yesterday." She reminded him.
"Alright, I walked right into that one." He grudgingly accepted, letting her hug him before she left.
Afterwards, it was just him and he made sure to pack up the new supply of sleeping potions just as Mae had severely warned him to.
His apartment was quiet for the first time since he woke and he couldn't decide which he liked better but having a full house sweetened you up in ways you didn't even know was possible.
With at least a couple hours before he would have to meet up with the Alpha and the two Head Warriors for their trip, he decided to use the time to clean up his apartment, he would be gone for a good while soon.
It was odd to wake up and not have work as the first thought in his mind, it was even more mindblowing to find out that he had not thought about work for the past couple days now, there was simply no time to.
He started from the kitchen, putting on an apron so that he didn't stain his fresh change of clothes.
He cleaned methodically, putting on music to create the perfect atmosphere, he still wore his knitted sweaters, although the one he currently had on was far lighter.
The material was so loosely woven so if he hadn't worn an undershirt, his bare skin would have been on display. He wore this over shorts instead, summer was already here, it was only going to get hotter.
After he was done, he sat down for a bit to catch his breath, taking a drink of water then it hit him, so hard that he choked on water.
He was going to be in a car alone with Darian and Leon for their hours long drive, fuck!
