"Let's get going." Darian muttered for the umpteenth time, taking the package from Jaxon as they walked back to the car. "I'm driving." He stated simply, there was no dispute about that, he just wanted to inform them.
"Jaxon and I will take the backseat then." Leon spoke up without hesitation, already moving.
Darian's glare cut him off. "What?"
Jaxon swallowed nervously, knowing that he had to cut off their escalating argument or they would never leave. Also, he was terrified of being in the back seat all alone with Leon, at least Darian could be trusted to keep his hands to himself.
"I want to ride shotgun." He was quick to say.
Darian smugly opened the passenger side door so that Jaxon could go in, going around to get in the driver's seat.
Leon glanced at them both, a faint smile on his face as he slipped into the back seat.
Leaving Pine Creek didn't take too long and the car ride was mostly quiet, the places they passed by providing enough noise to fill up the space of the silent ride.
Jaxon was busying himself with the view outside his window, still trying to gather his wits around him.
Agnes had made pumpkin pie and honey muffins for them, he had carefully kept that. It would be for much later, he had eaten breakfast already and he was sure the others had done the same.
Twisting his hands nervously, he drew in a shaky breath, he could do this, he just had to act… normal.
How did one act normal again?
Darian barely noticed Jaxon's nervous state, his hands full with trying to keep his eyes on the road and Leon at the same time because he knew that the werewolf was up to no good.
Leon did nothing, however, busy scrolling through his phone, it just made Darian more anxious.
As soon as they got to the outskirts of Pine Creek, Darian's fears took shape. He had begun to forget to worry, Leon had seemed content to just browse on his phone and he'd rather turn his attention to Jaxon anyway.
He did not notice Leon put away his phone and scooch closer to him, not till the sneaky werewolf had made his move.
One moment he was driving down the mostly empty road and the next he was swerving dangerously to the left, a lump in his throat but it wasn't from the fear of losing control of the wheel.
Leon had slipped his hands under Darian's shirt, long tapered fingers sliding past the tattoos on the side of his body to brush over his abs.
It was with evident difficulty that Darian regained control of the car once more, Leon moving back to his previous position, looking as innocent as ever.
Jaxon dragged his gaze from the window when the car suddenly swerved, worry splashed across his features. "What's wrong?" He asked in a panicky voice.
Darian averted his face slightly to not give away the fact that he was flustered, it was his fault for taking his attention off the annoying were.
"Nothing, I'm sorry about that, I just got distracted." He made up a vague excuse, glaring at Leon through the rear view mirror.
Leon hid a small smirk, returning to scrolling through his phone like he had not just tried to crash the car.
Jaxon went back to sightseeing, he couldn't remember the last time he left Pine Creek after coming back from college.
Besides he liked how quiett the car was, it was soothing and relaxing, he almost wished he had a book for the ride, he wasn't about to make them stop the car to get a book he would probably end up not reading.
The view was far nicer anyway, tall trees with the occasional farm and gas station.
Darian furrowed his brow, his hands wrapping tighter around the wheels, his reaction to Leon touching him had been so unexpected, he forgot he was driving for the briefest of moments.
He would blame it on shock, his nervous system probably went haywire from the shock of being touched without warning. Nothing else could explain why Leo's fingers seemed to electrocute him, leaving behind a tingling sensation.
He returned to his vigorous watch of Leon but the werewolf knew better than to make a move when he was so alert, lazily scrolling through his phone like he had all of the time in the world.
Maybe he did.
Darian still had to worry about the road though so it didn't take too long for him to forget to keep an eye on Leon and naturally, Leon made his move.
He didn't get to sit with Jaxie, he wasn't going to sit back while Darian enjoyed his time either.
This time, there were other cars on the road and Darian cursed when he felt a quick hand slip under his shirt again, fingers raking down his body.
Jaxon let out a sound of surprise when the car swerved dangerously for the second time, giving Darian a really concerned look now. "Are you sure you're okay?"
Darian closed his eyes briefly, trying to regain his composure. "Yeah, it won't happen again."
Jaxon threw a concerned look behind him at Leon as well this time, suspicion dancing in his eyes. "Sure." He agreed grudgingly, it was odd that Leon was making no comments on the swerving unless of course he was the reason behind them.
Leon just crossed his legs, the drive might not be so bad afterall.
The third time was the charm, Leon made his move again, Darian was distracted again, this time by Jaxon pointing out something to them, it was the perfect opportunity.
Darian flicked his eye at the rear view mirror just as he did but Leon unfortunately didn't see it.
He made to slip his hand in Darian's shirt again but the other was faster this time, catching his hand and keeping it in place.
Jaxon was still going on, talking about a particularly pretty tree they had gone past.
The panic in Leon's eyes was evident but there was no way to pull back his hand without attracting Jaxie's attention, Darian held on far too tightly, his panic intensified when Darian slowly brought his hand lower down on his body, the dark-haired's bigger hand covering his.
Shit.
