Chapter 28 - Chapter 26: Fistfight

"Haa!"

"Ahh!"

The pair screamed at each other as Hakai threw a right vertical punch. However, Hachiman protected himself again from the strike with his outer forearm. The shockwave that followed was powerful enough to crumble a 440-meter building.

"Not bad!" Hachiman praised the worthy strike with a smile while still protecting himself. Hachiman grabbed him by the extended forearm with his other hand. Slowly pulling him in closer, he struck him with a one-inch liver palm. The shockwave carried through his back. He flew up and fell feet away from Hachiman.

"You're more a gorilla than just a monkey." Hakai taunted him, yet it felt like praise. Getting up, he held his liver in pain while getting up. The pair ran at each other with incredible speed and engaged in mixed martial arts hand-to-hand combat. Hakai flew up in the air and landed a powerful heel kick onto Hachiman's forearm. While in the air, he rotated himself a complete one-eighty and landed a powerful sidekick on Hachiman's hand. He again ran and leaped up into the air above Hachi, and while coming down, he used the built momentum and landed an ax kick. Due to the force, Hachiman used his forearms to shield himself from the attack. The effective rate and shockwave brought him down to his left knee.

"Bah!" He groaned a little as his left knee touched the ground. Then, quickly getting up, he found himself against the charging opponent. "a nukite strike?" Hachiman asked himself while the spear finger strike got closer. He luckily struck his forearm in front and used it to wrap it around Hakai's arm. Reaching his hand over his forearm, he grabbed it and brought him closer, pulling it back tightly. Hakai's chest arched back, bringing his chest forward towards Hachi. Pulling his fist up this face, he punched Hakai on the chest with as little force as not to harm him too much. The shockwave that followed knocked him to the ground on his back, creating a small crater in the ore.

"Gah!" Hakai groaned as his body settled from the impact. "Cheeky bastard." He said while he laid down. "I don't lose!" He told Hachiman while trying to get up and fight again.

"Sure," Hachiman said as he repeatedly punched him on the chest.

Boom!

He deepened the small crater. "How about now?" He asked the immobile Hakai.

"Not yet!" Hakai announced with pride while gripping the crater's edges, trying to get up.

"Fine, this should do," Hachiman said as he put his four fingers on Hakai's chest.

"One-inch punch?" Hakai asked him while showing his bloody grin.

"Goodnight," Hachiman told him with a small smile. Then, he struck him with a powerful one-inch punch. Hakai's eyes rolled back as his arms and legs flew up in the air, arching him forward. "Alright, that did it," Hachiman concluded the fight with minor scratches and little to zero wasted energy and stamina.

"Good job, Hakai." He praised his sleeping buddy while picking him up and transferring him back into his main shrine.

He jolted up as he had his whole upper body wrapped in bandages. Next to him was Miko, worried sick for his safety. "Goodmorningm Miko." He said while scratching his eyes.

"Haki-Kun!" She said while they looked a each other, one in a daze, the other relieved. "How are you feeling?" She asked him, leaning towards the futon.

"I feel okay!" He responded, full of energy.

"Are you sure?" She asked him again with a bit of worry.

"Hmm, hmm, don't worry. After all, I ain't going down that easy!" He patted his biceps in a showing of power.

"Don't worry about him. He's a coward who doesn't give up," Hachiman said while entering the room behind the two.

"Lord Hachiman!" Miko stood up in a show of respect to her master.

"Miko, sit down." He informed her with a soft expression.

"What would you know, gorilla!" Hakai shouted at him while pouting and turning away from him.

"Hey, I'm not a gorilla!" He fought back to maintain his image.

"Then, you're a monkey with gorilla strength!" Hakai said to him while still looking away.

"Not any better!" Hachi scolded him. "Well, whatever. I still won." Hachiman said as he sat next to Miko. "You will regret challenging me ever again." He said with a teasing smile.

"Hmm, remember those words, cuz' I will feed them right back to you." Hakai turned around to face him with determination spilling from his eyes.

Caught by surprise, Hachiman was taken back and understood severely to take what he had just said. Hakai, at one point, was a central God whom even Heaven and Hell sought in their ranks. However, seeking peace in eternity, he left behind everything and shouldered a kingdom full of uncertainties. Hachiman gulped a bit of saliva as he thought to himself. "I will be waiting." He said while looking at him.

"So, how's your chest?" Hachiman asked while pouring a hot glass of green tea for himself and the other two.

"No, my lord, let me do it," Miko said while rushing next to the hot pot of tea.

"It's fine. Let me pour him a cup," Hachiman assured her while still pouring. "Here, wimp." He said while handing Hakai the cup.

"Thanks, gorilla monkey," Hakai said, accepting the cup with a blank and funny expression.

"You suffered a complete severed and crushed ribcage," He said while sipping. "As we speak, the healing spells and that little soak I gave you in the Sacred fountain are slowly taking place." He said while Hakai's face paled.

"I didn't die?" He asked him with a tear stuck to his eye.

"Unfortunately, no." Hachiman teased him.

"You gorilla!" Hakai shouted, shaking him around.

"Hey, calm down, my tea," Hachiman said while holding the cup out, trying to avoid spills.

After some time, he managed to calm Hakai down, and the two sipped away at their teacups in tension.

"That was one hell of a spar," Hakai said while smiling behind the cup.

"Yeah, you're getting better and quickly adapting to this new energy," Hachiman said. "Keep up the good work." He said as the sun set behind the open window. "In no time, you'll be more powerful than in your glory days!" Hachi blurted without a second thought. The silence set in as the sunset, and the tension rose as Hakai looked up.

"Do you know anything of my glory days?" He asked the pair while twirling his thumbs around the cup, staring intensely into it, able to cut it just with that gaze.
