Chapter 6 - ~5~

Instead of watching crimson rays cut through a canopy of bright green leaves she watched as small white flakes danced through the sky perfecting their art as they fall.

They've been walking for hours and haven't said one word to each other since.

"What if we're too late?" Prim asked.

"We will be" Said Dolion, "But soon enough we will be able to figure out whatever patter she's following. Then we'll be able to predict her every move"

"And what if she's not following a pattern?"

"Will you please stop questioning me?"

"Dolion, the last time I questioned you, I was right"

"Dumb luck"

"No, I used my brain unlike you and Alastar. Mazereth is dead. And has been for almost a year"

"That doesn't mean anything here"

"What do you mean?"

"Our laws are different from those on Earth. If someone dies, they go to another world. One that they have to fight their way out of. Most just give up and except their fate. But if you fight your way out of that world, then you are given one more chance at life"

"Benjamin..."

"I've hoped he would fight. But like you said...It's been almost a year. He's gone"

"So that's it? You just....Gave up on him?"

"Your one to talk. You gave up on him the moment you saw is body sprawled out on the dirt beneath you. It gave you nightmares and it changed you"

"How did you know that?"

"...Because it changed me too"

Prim shook her head. "That's different Dolion"

"I don't see how-"

"On Earth, whenever you die you don't get a second chance. Your just...dead. If I would've know about this other world I would have stayed here, In the Plane and waited...Waited for the day he would come back to us"

"Just face it Prim. He's not fighting for his life in the other world. He's given up as well. So why is so bad if we-"

"Because he's our brother!" Prim shouted.

Dolion froze in shock. He'd never seen Prim this upset before.

"It's not that big of a deal-"

"Is it not?!" She could feel the anger burning hot in her chest. "You gave up on him Dolion!"

Dolion could see her eyes growing wet with tears, he sighed as he pulled her close to him.

He held her for what felt like an eternity before he dared to speak again.

"You want the truth?" He whispered into her hair. "The truth is that I never truly gave up. I lost hope, yes, but I believe that one day...One day he can still make it back to us...To you"

"I'm sorry too" Prim's voice trembled. "I knew that his death...I knew that it effected you too. I was careless with my words..."

"Shhh" Dolion said stroking her silver hair.

Soon another long moment of silence passed by unnoticed.

"Prim..." He finally said.

"Hm..?"

"We can't keep arguing like this. We're not going to get anywhere. We can't act on emotion, remember"

"Mhm" Said Prim as she peeled herself away from his warm embrace. "I remember"
