Prim stared blankly out the kitchen window. It was odd seeing green again. It always seemed like winter lasted for an eternity in Nave. The lawns were always white and the trees were always bare. But now the yard was a bright green and the trees were even greener.
Her mother decided it was best if she stayed home from school today. Last night must have really scared her.
Maybe something really was wrong with her. Was it natural for someone to go through this? Is this supposed to be grief?
She sighed. She guessed she'd never know. It's not like she could tell anyone. No one would believe her...
But she was dying to tell someone...Anyone...
Suddenly loneliness clawed its way to the surface once again. She cursed breathlessly as her heart began to race and it grew harder and harder to breath. Her fingers curled around her throat, she shut her eyes, and tried to clear her mind.
When she opened them again the world was tinted blue and the clock on the wall had stopped.
She sighed and leaned back against the back of her chair. Strangely, the blue world gave her comfort. Something she scarcely felt in the real world.
She glanced around the room at everything. So different, yet still the same.
Then suddenly she yelped at the same moment her hands flew up over her ears.
The scream's of the fire alarms spread all throughout the house.
Her heart was racing once again as she leapt from her seat and raced out of the kitchen to find the reason behind their sudden cries.
First she checked the living room...Nothing.
The bathroom...Nothing.
Her little sister's bedroom...Nothing.
Her mother's bedroom...Nothing.
She hesitated outside of her bedroom door. She could smell it. The smoke...
"No no no!" She cried pushing open the door.
There, she saw a single white flame resting upon her writing desk in the corner of the room. It wasn't spreading, or growing...It was just there.
She covered her mouth and nose with her sleeve, grabbed a shoe from her closet and began stomping out the tiny flame.
Once the fire was gone, so was all of the smoke and so was the alarms. It was as if there was no fire to begin with.
She closed her eyes, and when she opened them again the world was no longer blue and a single square of parchment lay covering a black spot where the fire had once been.
When she picked it up tears filled her eyes. The first thing she noticed was his name.
Dolion Creed...
She had missed him so much. But she hand't truly realized how much until now.
She quickly pulled herself together and began reading the few words that were scribbled onto the paper.
"You need to come home. We thinks she's returned." Is all it read. She ran the tips of her fingers along the words on the page. He had pressed so hard with the pen he was writing with each letter was indented into the page. And his writing was rushed, she could tell.
Was he in trouble?
And If there was trouble in the Plane then why hasn't the girl reached out to her?
Could she be in trouble as well?
Prim tried once again to clear her mind. But it wasn't working. She was both exited and terrified. The last time she visited the Plane Benjamin died. She almost died!
But right now she had to concentrate. Her friend was in trouble and possibly the girl as well.
When she opened her eyes the world was still normal in front of her.
Dolion's letter crumbled in her fist.
She closed her eyes again..."Come on!" She shouted when nothing had happened.
She tried one more time...Nothing...
She was going to cry again. She could feel it. But she didn't want to cry anymore. Prim was so sick and tired of crying!
"Focus" Whispered a voice in the back of her mind.
Prim froze when she realized who this voice belonged to.
"Focus" She said again.
So Prim did as the girl had said, and tried once more.
But when she opened her eyes the world was not tinted blue. But instead the ground beneath her was covered in white, and all around her, a ruined village
