Dawn was finally home with her mother after shopping food for dinner at a grocery store. Leslie didn't want to bother Dawn with her questions while driving home but she was eager to know what was up with her anyway.
"Mum..I called you a thousand times a while ago you weren't picking up. I was gonna ask you to come pick me up." Dawn complained while unpacking the vegetables from the paper bag.
"And I did come for you didn't I?" Leslie replied as she washed her hands from the sink tap.
"Yes...which makes me wonder how you knew I was gonna need you when you didn't pick up my calls." Dawn leaned against the counter.
How did she get there anyway? She practically saved her life from being shattered again.
"Max called me and told me that he already took his car back. Plus he also said his money was paid in cash."
Again with that Max. Dawn was tired of hearing his name already.
"Oh...he did tell you that?" She asked ironically.
"Yes! Which makes me wonder how you got the money." Dawn knew that this was her mother's chance of prying into her private life.
"Mum..I didn't pay him." Dawn shook her head.
"Then who did?" Leslie shook her head while picking a knife from the board.
"A friend of mine. Well, technically not my friend because he is not my friend he's Hazel's friend who decided to do the payment so now I can consider him my friend."
"That was a long introduction don't you think?" Leslie chuckled as she chopped onions on the board.
"Yeah. His name's Danny. Such a generous chap." Dawn tranced.
Leslie saw her facial expressions and knew that something was up. She had a crush on the Danny guy who settled her debt.
"Well,I just hope his intentions of helping you were pure too."
"Meaning?"
"Perhaps...he likes you.". Leslie winked at her making her blush.
"Mum...stop it. I just talked to him today for the first time."
"Still...it could be because he likes you." Leslie said as she wore her green apron and lit the fire.
"Stop it. He doesn't like me. He did it out of his own will." This conversation with her mother was embarrassing. She had to change the subject.
"Soo.... how's Victoria doing?"
"Good yeah I think. Don't you guys talk?"
"Nop. I've tried reaching her countless times she hasn't responded. Perhaps she's busy or something." Dawn frowned.
"Maybe."
