Chapter 7 - Chapter 8

The next day at school everything was going normal. Dawn knew that she still had her friends especially after they defended her against Max the other day. She's never felt so secure and she was glad that she had her circle of friends to count on.

She went to her locker and she was busy arranging it and decided to lock it when she heard someone call her.

"Hi Dawn."

"Danny!" Dawn was perplexed to see Danny talk to her again. Most especially after Max embarrassed her...he should've walked away.

"How long have you been standing there?" Dawn was still surprised as she stretched her arms.

"A while." He smiled at her. "Actually for about 7 minutes now."

"Lol you counted." She hilariously giggled.

"Yap." He nodded and he decided to lead the way to class down the hallway.

"Didn't see you the other day at Hazel's Barbecue." Danny started the conversation.

"Didn't see you either. I guess it was crowded." She obviously didn't know how to respond back for she was scared that she'd say something inappropriate.

"Yeah. Crowded it was." Danny nodded in a smile. Seems like he couldn't stop smiling whenever he was around her.

"By the way I'd like to thank you for what you did to me the other day. I'm sorry I wasn't able to reach you in person though." She was shy.

"Oh...that was nothing. I'd do it again if I have the chance to help."

"That's so generous of you don't you think?" Dawn stopped walking and so did he.

"For you..." He inhaled sharply. "I wouldn't mind."

Those words melted Dawn inside. She found herself smiling uncontrollably. She didn't know why but she didn't wanna stop either.

She couldn't stop staring at his blue eyes when she knew she had to stop. He was way too charming for being just a casual friend. Geez...was he crushing on him? But why? It's so wrong absolutely wrong. Filthy rich boys like Danny would never go for simple girls like her.

"Can I...have your number?" Danny confidently asked stopping Dawn from trancing.

Yes!

Yes! Yes!

YES!

He asked the final question she'd always been waiting for.

"Of course!" She was excited but tried to hide her excitement. She saw him reach out for his phone from his pair of blue school trouser.

"818-577-6441."

"Saved it." Said Danny as he put his phone back in his trouser.

Then all of a sudden Hazel approached them and Dawn badly wanted to talk to him since she hadn't the whole day.

"Danny." Hazel called him out as she folded her navy blue blazer.

"Yes Hazel." Danny casually answered.

"I have to warn you about something." She didn't even take a look at Dawn who felt that something was a little bit off with Hazel that day.

"Hazel..." Dawn softly spoke. "Hi.."

Instead of rather responding back...Hazel glanced her from head to toe and rolled her eyes in disgust.

Dawn saw her do that and it tore her apart.

"Hi..."Hazel scoffed and switched her attention back to Danny.

"Warn me about what Hazel?" Danny was confused.

"What's going on Hazel? Is there going to be a fire in school?" Dawn desperately yielded for she couldn't understand what was going on.

"Stay out of this!" Hazel scolded her. Both Dawn and Danny couldn't believe their eyes.

"Hazel what's wrong with you?" Danny asked in a rather whispery voice trying to avoid any chaos at that time.

"No! What's wrong with you Danny?" Hazel was still infuriated with the fact that Danny associated himself with Dawn.

"You just shouted at your best friend." Danny pointed a finger at Dawn referring her as Hazel's best friend.

"She is not my best friend." Hazel emphasized on the word not with a scoff.

"Excuse me?" Dawn's eyes glistened with tears as she shook her head. What the hell was Hazel trying to say?

"That's right. You heard me correct. You are no longer my best friend and you are no longer welcomed in the nobled group. So stay out of my life and stay out of Danny's life too." Hazel barked at her and hurriedly left their sight leaving Dawn shattered.

How could she be so mean? Why did she have to say all those words?

She burst into tears in front of Danny and he felt compassion towards her.

"It's okay. She's just stressed out." He hugged her as they walked to class.
