"The movie is over now! Stop staring." Danny yelled at the other students whose eyes were still on Dawn glossing about her.
Dawn was worn out over the silly argument she had with Hazel. She threw herself on one of the chairs and bit one of her crispy cookie.
"Hey are you okay?" Danny was concerned after seeing her long face. He grabbed a chair and pulled it close to where she sat and sat down. He watched her run her fingers through her golden red hair that she let down wanting to touch her hair and feel its softness.
"Never been better." She replied in a tired tone.
Danny held her hands tightly and looked deep into her gorgeous emerald eyes for quite sometime. He was mesmerized by her looks. He found her features to be strikingly beautiful to the point he couldn't resist her.
"I'm here for you. I won't let anything bad happen to you. " He assured her squeezing his hands on hers. Dawn enjoyed this moment not wanting anything to ruin it at the point.
"Danny...please stop." She flinched from his touch. "You already heard everything Hazel said about me. I'm so fake. I don't deserve to be anywhere near people like you. You know... people who walk with credit cards worth millions." Hazel words hit her deep enough to cut her heart out. She let everything she said get into her head.
"So you're saying you don't wanna be near me?" Danny shook his head pulling his hands away from hers. His move disappointed her and she knew she had probably said something that offended him.
"No. That's not what I meant." She shook her head. "I mean don't you feel ashamed of me now? I mean look at me?"
"I don't care what people say or think about you. I like you for who you are and not because you don't own a rolls Royce." Him saying that melted her heart.
"Really?"
"Yes. And don't worry about Hazel. She's not the boss of me." Dawn felt that he meant every word he said cause he didn't break eye contact with her. For once in her life...she felt safe and protected inside Los Calabasas Highschool.
"But she said I should stay out of your life too."
"So you're saying you don't wanna be around me just because Hazel threatened you?"
"No. You don't get it. I mean...I don't want people to have the wrong impression that um...am...you know using you for your money." Dawn uttered softly as she ran through her hair again.
"I don't want them to call me names such as an impostor, a low life sucker etcetera etcetera." She went on sniffling.
"Oh I see." Danny chuckled as he put a strand of her hair behind her left ear and gazed deeply again into her eyes as if he was trying to read her thoughts.
She inhaled louder and heavier than usual. Her lungs were filled with a large volume of air like as if she was breathing her last.
She loved Danny's chocolate eyes. A lot. Especially his long lashes that were a bit longer than hers kinda made her envious. How could a man have long lashes like that?
"Dawn. He called out her name making her be aware of his presence.
"I'll always be here for you. I'll always protect you. Trust me...no one will call you names or make fun of you especially when am around. That I promise you." He then kissed her forehead.
Dawn didn't understand why he was being so nice to her but she didn't bother asking why though.
She felt appreciated for once in her life not for her outside personality but as a person.
"Thanks." She smiled calmly. He smiled back. The electric bell went off and they both had to rush to class for other lessons.
From that day...Danny built confidence in Dawn that struck her a lifetime.
