Chapter 8 - Chapter 9

Danny consoled her. As soon as the first two lessons were over every student headed to the cafeteria for a snack. She was confused broken and lonely. She thought maybe Hazel had said those words to her earlier because of the incident that happened when Max confronted her in front of her friends because of his money.

Perhaps Hazel believed Max's words. But they were true anyway. She's not a rich kid. She doesn't belong in Hazel's class. She was just a fit inner.

In the cafeteria everyone had their snacks happily together with their friends sharing jokes and laughter here and there and she just stood there with her white tray of two chocolate donuts, a yoghurt and crispy cookies.

She then spotted Hazel and her friends who looked at her and burst into laugher after giving her quick glimpses all the time.

"She really is so broke. I mean look at her." She heard Lyn talk and they broke into another laugh. They were gossiping about her. Infact they were bad mouthing her.

She was almost crying when she felt a soft hand touch her arm firmly. It was Danny.

"Are you okay?" She saw a concerned look through his eyes. At least he was the only person that gave a shit about her in the school.

"A little." She sniffed while wiping the tiny tears that formed through her eyes.

This broke Danny's heart. He badly wanted to help and he didn't know how.

"Come on. Let's go sit." He intertwined his fingers into her right arm and carefully pulled her to a near table.

"But where? All the seats and tables are occupied." She was even afraid to settle down for she didn't even wanna be in that hall anyway.

"No they are not. I mean look at there.." he pointed where Hazel was. "There are two empty seats available."

"But that's Hazel's block."

"So what?" Danny scoffed.

"Danny..." she pulled her hand out of his breaking his heart a little with her move. "Early this morning she made it clear that I should stay out of her life."

"Who cares what she said?"

"I do. Because I respect her privacy."

"No. No you don't. You're afraid of her. Now let's go sit so that she could frankly explain to the both of us why she raised her voice at you this morning or...imma have to drag you there by myself. And it's not gonna be an easy drag."

Dawn noticed that he wasn't joking about the fact that he was gonna drag her She had to comply with the man's rules. After all the saying goes... it's a man's world.

"Fine." She let out a sigh.

"Good." He winked.

They both approached Hazel and her gang's table with Danny leading the way.

Dawn could tell Hazel wasn't happy to see her presence and she was disgusted by her being there.

"Danny..." Hazel spoke joyously. "I'm so glad you came. I reserved a seat for you and the other one for Dwight." she concluded as she sipped in her Expresso milk coffee.

"Oh...that was good of you Hazel." He put his tray on the table and pulled out a chair. "Dawn come sit."

His move infuriated Hazel that she rose from her seat.

"What do you think you're doing Danny?" she raised his voice at him creating attention.

"Dawn will sit next to me." He confidently replied.

"But that's meant to be Dwight's seat." Krystal clarified not understanding why Danny was being such a pain in the arse at that time.

"But Dwight's not here yet." Danny added.

"So..where is he?" Lyn was ever confused.

"He's busy today practising for a match so he won't join us today. So I place Dawn on his chair." Danny was tired of the girls asking him endless questions. He was just there to prove to Hazel that he can be friends with anyone he likes without her having to decide for his life.

"Don't you even think about it Dawn. Don't you put your filthy butt on Dwight's seat." Hazel warned her. Dawn's presence just irritated the shit out of her. And most especially now she was becoming overly annoying.

"Hazel stop it! Why are you all of a sudden being mean to Dawn? I thought u guys were close?" Danny defended Dawn who was shaking out if fear because of Hazel's wrath.

He couldn't get why Hazel was hostile towards Dawn. It just didn't make sense to him.

Hazel let out a sarcastic laugh. She just didn't get why Danny was being so protective of an impostor.

"You really don't wanna know why Danny."

"I wanna know. Tell me." He demanded pointing his hands at his chest.

Hazel stepped closer to him with her hands crossed on her chest.

"Why don't you ask her yourself? She's the warning I was telling you about?"

"Why would you warn me about Dawn?"It just didn't make sense. Hazel was losing it and Danny was thinking maybe she was going mad.

"Because she's spam. So fake." Hazel clamoured as she eyed Dawn from top to bottom.

"Meaning?" Danny shook his head still not understanding a thing.

"She..." Hazel pointed a finger at her while looking at Danny. "Is no rich girl. She's just a die hard wanna be who wanted to be close to us so that she could finally get her main source of joy."

"And what is her main source of joy exactly?" Danny asked.

"Money of course. Danny... she's a pretentious bitch. She's gonna make you broke soon. More of like a bad omen."

"Hazel...I still don't get you." Danny walked towards Dawn and hugged her.

"Dawn lied to all of us. She doesn't live in Old Town Calabasas next to Kim Kardashian. She lives in Ariella Drive 91302. Her mother is a divorcee to be and not a Victoria Secrets ambassador. Instead she's just a cashier at Trader Joe's supermarket." Hazel's heart was content once she spilled all the beans making everyone gasp.

Dawn heard the other students from the hall murmur and gasp while giving her ugly stares. Her self esteem was shutting down and she couldn't let everyone see her vulnerability.

The whispers people made made her brave enough to pull out of Danny's hug and drop her tray vigorously on the table. She wiped her tears and with valour she faced Hazel.

"I may not be as rich as you are but atleast I don't look down people like you do because am rich at heart." Her bravery awed Danny and it impressed him enough that she didn't wanna stop her from confronting the bitch that caused all this chaos.

"Hmm...lame." Hazel scoffed while rolling her hair. "It still doesn't make any difference you're a low life sucker."

Those words made Dawn furious and she almost struck her with her slap when Danny interceded and held her tight to stop the fight.

"And you are an annoying good for nothing blonde thick minded whore." Dawn was really infuriated.

The other students watched the two now ex friends argue while others recorded their argument.

"I regret the day that I invited you into our lives." Hazel yelled.

"And I regret the day that I met you." Dawn fired back. It hurt her to know that Hazel's true colors finally showed up. Her mom was right. They weren't true friends and the fact that they criticized her and mocked her for knowing her true whereabouts was truly painful.

"You know what?" Hazel crossed her arms. "It's so sad to see you this bitter. You really are so poor.. gosh you make me sick." She saw Dawn as pathetic. There's no way that they were ever gonna be friends again ever again.

"I hate you Hazel." Even though she didn't mean what she said.

"And I hate you more."Dawn noticed that she meant her words."Perhaps there's a reason as to why your dad left your mother for a mistress."

Everyone gasped. They didn't know that for sure.

Dawn managed to slip away from Danny's arms and immediately gave Hazel a cold flashy slap.

"Don't mess with my family!" Dawn warned her while pointing a finger at her.

Hazel still couldn't believe that she let Dawn slap her. How dare she anyway?

"So the truth hurts doesn't it?" Hazel wanted to fight back but her friends pulled her back.

"Hazel...let's go that's enough."Paige dragged her arm back.

"It's not yet over Dawn. You just created your worst enemy!" Dawn watched Hazel speak while she was still cupping her right cheek from the slap she gave her. She grabbed her purse and her friends escorted her out of the cafeteria.

Their friendship was now over. They had become the worst enemies all because of social status.
