Chapter 6 - Chapter 5

"Miss, your lunch is ready." A young waiter stepped outside, calling out to me in a courteous voice. Looking up from the interesting chapter book that I bought from Victorian Books -a little book store on a small street that I walked down half an hour ago.

The book is a historical romance that has an eye-catching cover, and I bought it thinking it felt right to read at a beautiful lunch place. The restaurant was along a waterway, with a pleasant outside venue, a perfect reading place that I took advantage of.

"Thank you, I'll be there in a minute." I looked at the young man, with a small smile, before picking up my purse that had my gun, wallet, and my new book inside. In case I came across the Mafia King, I didn't want to be unarmed. Stepping inside the bright open restaurant, I made my way to the table I reserved earlier, a tall table in the center of the restaurant, only a two-seater.

Sitting down, smiling as soon as my food was set down. Thanking the new server, I started eating my salad with chicken, occasionally taking small sips of my sweet iced tea, with a chocolate chip cookie to the side. While I was eating, I felt a set of eyes on me, never looking away, and I could tell the person was to the right of me.

After finishing the meal, I pulled out my book to start reading again, since I was waiting on my check. I was only reading the book for a distraction while waiting to see if the person would pop up. And just as I thought, a man walked in my direction, taking a seat in the chair across from me, waiting for my acknowledgment.

I was wearing a cute t-shirt and lightly ripped jeans, with a pair of black ankle boots, sunglasses on top of my head, and jewelry that I bought at a vendor shop, earlier this morning. It was an Emerald matching set; a bracelet and a pretty necklace pendant that had a wolf scene, with little emerald stone chips. I thought it was unique, and since it's my birthstone, I decided to add more to my collection.

"You want something?" I peeked over the page I was reading, then glanced over at the waitress who was watching us, occasionally murmuring something to the people standing near her. The man grunted, seeing me distracted, and I gave him my attention for a grand total of a minute, before dropping my focus back to my book, but I couldn't read a single sentence.

Since I was trying to think why the waitress was muttering. Until he spoke.

"You seem familiar, have we met before?" Hearing the familiar voice, I looked straight into his bright teal eyes, and my heart skipped a beat when I saw him again. 'It hasn't even been a day, and we've already met!' I grumbled to myself.

I was lucky to wear contacts today and a blond wig, even though I wanted to stay in bed because my side was throbbing. Setting down my book, I stared at the Mafia King. The young man, was in a black suit, with a blue button-up, and the top three buttons left open, revealing his chest bone.

"I don't think so. Maybe I remind you of somebody, I get that a lot." I smiled lightly, trying to get some of the attention off of me, with a light laugh. "We might as well introduce each other then. My name is Grace Allen." I lied with a straight face, as I held out my hand and he immediately grasped it, shaking it twice in a polite manner.

When our hands touched, there was a little spark between our hands. It wasn't uncomfortable, rather it was surprisingly comforting, and I paused to look at him strangely, before releasing my grip, and resting my hand in my lap, after putting my book into my purse.

"I'm Jacob King, the CEO of Kings Inc., I'm sorry to interrupt your lunch, I was just curious if you were somebody I knew. I can pay if you want?" He looked at me intensely, and I kept my emotions in check. As much as I wanted to blush I wouldn't give him the advantage, it was already risky meeting him, and I wasn't here to find a playboy.

"It's fine, I have to get going. It was nice meeting you, Mr. King." I smile gently and then waved over to the server, and as I paid my bill, I gave her a tip, since she had to deal with this man later.

Of all places in Manchester, we had to meet, it was here at a small restaurant.

I stood up and walked out of the restaurant, keeping my chin up, looking up to the sky, hoping, never to see him again. However, it seemed that fate decided to fail me on that, on multiple occasions.

"It was her," I mumbled in an amazed tone while walking back to my table. I walked over to her table out of curiosity and was answered, whether she knew it or not. I was having lunch with my second in command when I caught her scent.

I watched her for a couple of minutes before curiosity got the best of me. Which left made my Beta confused as he was giving me details that I asked for earlier, but I just got up and walked over.

When I walked up, I was kinda expecting her to fangirl over me since that is what other people do, but she just shrugged me off, sitting there in her world reading her romance book.

When she finally looked up, I knew it was her by the way she held her ground. That cool aura that would make anybody get on their knees, as she was dominating, only a few people could master it. She wore hazel contacts and a blond wig, but there was a brown strand hanging out that the sunlight caught.

When she introduced herself, I knew she felt the spark between us when our hands came together, because she glanced up at me strangely, before pulling back. Aware that the whole restaurant was watching us, making her slightly uneasy, I let her leave.

Even though she was wearing makeup to look older, I knew immediately that it was my mate, my young beautiful mate.

"Alpha, there is no Grace Allen in the human records, she lied. We've also searched school records and there are a couple of options that you have to choose from, for the possible person she is. However, they're back at the headquarters, since Elena has been searching for the person this whole time." One of the wolves reported, closing his computer to eat the rest of his sandwich.

I nodded, knowing Elena was ready to chew me out, since she never liked to do the job of searching for somebody, that it's a job that's handed to the secretary when my beta is busy, or when I want her busy.

"I know where to find her. When she is brought to me, no harm should befall her, am I clear?" All three of them bowed their heads in respect, then away leaving me at the table. Watching the humans intermingle with each other, I got lost in a daze thinking about 'Grace Allen'.

"Fate is a strange thing. To think that my mate is two years younger than me. I believe there is something else that is being kept hidden, from her. Oh, moon, this is going to be fun." I mumbled quietly to myself, as I paid for my meal. Leaving the quiet restaurant, getting into a sports car waiting for me, with my beta behind the wheel.

"Father is demanding you to come home, also why are you there?" Matt called me on the second day, while I was walking down a busy tourist street. I took in a breath, knowing that they had my location now, only because I decided to bring my other phone on accident.

"I'll be home tomorrow, I just came here for a couple of things. So, in the meantime, stop calling me and leave me alone till I arrive home." I ordered, about to hang up, until the person changed and the once chipper brother of mine, was swapped out for an old man that spoke in a cold tone.

"You better not be there for the Mafia." He threatened, and I took a turn into the ally, because it had a beautiful venue, and also to get away from the walkway, as I was about to get in a serious conversation.

"I'm here for a break and plan on writing a report on this. Now that you already have my location, don't bother me. Also don't worry I'm under the name Grace Allen, besides, where is my bodyguard?" I heard the other end of the line go silent, either because was stunned by my tired tone, or the fact that he didn't know.

"He's on his way to your motel, and you have a subway ticket at noon. We'll need to talk." He returned in a demanding tone, ending the call before I could comment. I scoffed under my breath, as I walked down the well-decorated ally and bumped into the decorator.

"Would you like a picture?" He asked as he held up a camera, I nodded and let him do a full-blown photoshoot. I noticed not many people visited the place, which was heartbreaking, it was a hidden gem.

It was close to dinner time, as the sun was close to setting by the time we finished. I honestly had fun posing and smiling in this place, and he seemed to enjoy his work, elated that someone came across the place.

"Thank you. Will you send me those pictures? You can post them if you want." I walked off, after giving him an email, and then booked a reservation at a high-quality restaurant that was close to the river.

Watching the sun reflect off the water, I took a picture and started writing a report on my phone when I arrived at the restaurant, staying true to my words so I was covered on my alibi.

"You know, we just have a habit of running into each other, shall we have dinner together?" He walked in and stood next to me, greeting me with a charming smile. I looked up and raised an eyebrow, this makes it the third time we've bumped into each other, and I wasn't pleased.

It was like death was knocking on my door.

"It seems that someone is following me. Too bad I've made a reservation, or I would take your offer." He smiled, I knew I should have stayed quiet. He glanced at the waiter and looked like he was going to say something to him, and I was slightly panicking.

"I can arrange it to where you can eat with me." He smiled and watched me for a couple of minutes, gauging my reaction. Of course, he could, he was not only a major CEO but, also the Mafia King.

"I prefer a quiet dinner with nobody, speaking of which, my table is ready. Enjoy your evening Mr. King. I hope that we can end this habit of bumping into each other." I said in a cheerful voice, relieved as the waitress walked toward me. I smiled lightly at the man, before following her to my corner table.

Taking the seat that gave a view of the whole restaurant I watched Mr. King walk to the private suite, with him smirking along the way, as he caught me looking. I ordered the steak with sparkling water and opened up my phone to start on my report again, mostly getting the rough draft finished, leaving the final work for later.

Listening to the calming music in the background, I smiled and wrote more about my vacation, writing small details, about the people and the places I've been, omitting anything that included the mafia business.

When my steak came, I was told a man was looking for me. There was a reason why I went to a high-quality restaurant, so I could easily be found.

"Miss, may I have a seat?" I looked up to Jonathan, another good friend and someone that I was easygoing with. With a nod of my head he sat down and started reading my story, while I ate my steak, I watched him read my story with exaggerations and he made suggestions on some edits, but otherwise, he left it alone.

After a couple of minutes of silence, I watched Mr. King walk out of his reservation with three bodyguards following behind him, he winked in my direction and I returned it with a disgusted look and then nod in his direction, for people that were looking in my direction.
