"I wonder just how would the blood moon affect a werewolf? I know your kind gets stronger under the moon but this kind of moon is like a giant aphrodisiac hung in the sky. The energy it generates slowly drives every creature crazy as their adrenaline and libido rise. What you saw back there....was just stage one" she said, grinning wildly.
Now that he noticed it, her eyes were glowing with a strange sort of excitement and madness. He hurriedly ducked as he felt a slash come at his face. He jumped far from his position and landed on a tree. He heard a burst of loud laughter from inside the trees and he could tell it was her.
"I wouldn't go too far above if I were you. It makes it worse" he heard her voice and immediately felt a loud ring in his ears. His foot missed a step and fell from the tree, landing straight on his back. His body was resilient so he felt no pain from the fall. He growled and got up, staggering on his feet.
"A warrior truly is admirable, I mean, you're still standing. The second stage has already begun, kekekeke'' he heard her speak from beside his ear. He elongated his claws and slashed in the direction of her voice. Not feeling the impact of hitting skin, he looked to see she was no longer there.
Again, an intense ringing racked his head. He stumbled and fell to his knees, holding his ears in agony. On top of the loud ringing, he started to hear crazed screams and shouts from the direction of the pond. The gentle voice that was sucking him in before changed tempo, singing a fast beat song that pumped the blood in his veins. His warrior soul was surging. He growled, trying to reign it in.
"You poor thing...."
"What…...what is happening to me?" he asked with a hoarse voice. He was in incredible pains and worse, his pants felt tight.
"Oh my, you're going into heat already. Wow, that certainly is interesting" she giggled, squatting by his side. His prone form lay on the grass as he was unable to muster any more strength to cover his ears. All of it had been drained from him.
"What is this demonic ritual?"
The moment he said that he felt the whole environment change. The crazed red eyes that made him feel uncomfortable before now gave him a sense of grave danger like he was going to be devoured in a minute. He felt like he was imagining it because a second later, everything was back to normal. Well, he was still unable to move.
"The ritual of the blood moon is no demonic ritual. The vampires have a goddess they worship, who is the first vampire, Lady Urial Azriel de Luna. It was said she had the ability to make the moon weep blood and control the blood of her enemies no matter how far away they were. Her most favorite thing to do was sing and dance under the blood moon, praying for the prosperity of her people. This is a ritual to honor both her and the moon. I will not have you defile it"
Dimitri did not possess the energy to rebuff her so he just looked away. The bullcrap she was spouting would not fool him. For a ritual that controlled people, it was hypocritically held in high esteem.
"Are you not affected by the moon too?" he managed to ask. She cocked her head at him like she was confused by the question.
"Affected? Hmm? I do not know. I only feel the need to run around and dance with my people. Today is a festival. I want to enjoy it"
Dimitri felt stupid for even asking her as if she would even answer him. He closed his eyes and breathed in slowly. He had no choice but to summon his wolf to get out of such an embarrassing situation.
"Don't! Don't do it! You'll just excite it!" she yelled but it was too late. Grey fur emerged from his pale skin all over his body and his face began to contort. His fangs grew longer and so did his claws. He finally stood up and howled. She clicked her teeth and flew back. From somewhere in her black cloak, she brought out a black blade scimitar dagger with gold patterns in both the red handle and blade.
Dimitri's grey eyes turned golden in his wolf form, making him see everything clearer. He saw a thin blood-red mist envelope both his body and hers. He growled, not liking it one bit. Since what he did was a partial transformation instead of a full one, he didn't have much time before the effects of the moon would affect him again. He cursed her for halting his transformation.
She dashed at him, slashing her dagger in a swift upward motion. He blocked the slash with his claws and counter attacks with a fast slash too fast for the eyes to see. She disappeared right in front of him and his attacks hit a tree, slicing it to splinters.
She appears behind him, holding his neck and slamming him into the ground. Her scarlet eyes flashed for a second before she stomped on him on his stomach with two feet. Dimitri immediately spit out blood. He felt the strength drain from him.
"You need to relax. I don't want to hurt you"
"Bullshit! You're taking advantage of the fact that this ritual has made me weak! I'll kill you, vampire!" He climbed out of the large crater his body created when he was stomped on and dashed at her at light speed.
She clicked her tongue and met his charge head-on, holding her dagger in reverse handle. Dodging his slashes and kicks, she slices up his hands and legs, making more blood drain from his body.
However, almost immediately as those cuts appeared, they disappeared. The healing ability of the werewolves was always something to behold.
Suddenly, the two of them froze in their tracks like they were being held by some mysterious energy. Dimitri struggles against it while she just hangs limply in it. As a vampire, she must have known there was no fighting it.
They had just noticed that the moon above them had become a deeper shade of red. It almost looked like it was dripping blood. The red mist that Dimitri saw became thicker and wound around the both of them.
The mist started moving strangely like it was alive and slithered around their face. It charged for their noses and mouth, stunning them. He tried to fight against it but it was of no use.
After struggling for a long time, he lost consciousness and his body went limp.
The female vampire watched this with interest. He fought against the mist for so long yet still got overcome by it. She caught his body before it hit the ground and carried him up. She could still see the mist that enveloped their bodies.
"Blood bonded to a werewolf. Now that's interesting" she said, walking towards the direction of the city, her laughter echoing in the wind.
