Chapter 1 - Prologue

"What?! After investing 1.5 billion dollars, only 900 million made it back to me!" I exclaimed, my anger boiling over as I glared at Klaus, the Marketing Head of my company. The room was tense, and the air is thick with my frustration.

Klaus tried to explain, "Sir, Druid Corporation's supply chain from Greece was disrupted, causing delays and losses."

I couldn't accept excuses. My company's financial health was at risk, and I had to act fast. I slammed my fist onto the table, causing papers to fly everywhere. "I don't want excuses. I want my money back!" I bellowed, my voice echoing through the room.

I picked up the papers and threw them at Klaus, demanding that he contact Druid Corporation immediately. I gave them a week to return my investment, or I would take their entire company as collateral.

As I looked out the window, the once clear blue sky now felt suffocating. My mind raced, calculating the losses and the risks. If I didn't act quickly, my company would suffer a severe setback.

But even as I thought about the worst-case scenario, I knew that bankruptcy was not an option. The company had to survive, no matter the cost.

I paced around the room with my mind racing, and my emotions threatening to overwhelm me. But I had to keep my cool. I had to come up with a solution, no matter how unorthodox.

As I took a deep breath and sat down, I knew that I had to be bold. I had to take risks, even if it meant making an aggressive move that could end up costing me millions more.

But as I leaned back in my chair, I knew that it was worth it. My company's survival was at stake, and I would do whatever it takes to keep things afloat.

After a few thoughts in mind, I immediately grabbed my phone and called my secretary.

"Lucy, make an appointment for me on Thursday, I would like to have a meeting with the Board of Directors of my three other companies, tell them attendance is a must, no excuses."

"Got it, sir!" She nodded and walked out the door.

Yes, I have three more companies. How I got it? The answer lies all in my mind. I enslave my brain, grasp and control it. Use it to its utmost potential. Today's society is used to being enslaved by our brains, and what it says is what we do, without further scrutinizing if it will be for the betterment of our life. That is when the toxicity starts to emerge within us.

I started running a small-time business, selling things here and there. I educated myself because I grew up without a recognized parent and relative. I raised myself on the street. I know the importance of education, so no matter what hardships I go through, I studied without asking for help from anyone. I have a brain, and I use that. I am smart, so I used whatever skills I have to graduate. Whatever the means, I just want my life to be good. When I was 18, I started working for a small company.

I was 25 when I became the CEO of the company I worked for and was called the youngest millionaire in all of Asia. How? Not only am I smart, but I am a genius; my mind works in a very unique way. Even I cannot explain, but people who encountered me call me a genius, and I think that explains it.

'In a world where money is everything.'

'I want to stand on top.'

While I was deep in my thoughts, the door in front of me suddenly opened, and someone bulged in. "Sir! The CEO of the Druid Corps agreed to your conditions."

'Just as I suspected.'

I looked at him in his eyes and grinned, "In that case, arrange the papers for me."

Not only did the Druid Corps go bankrupt, but there must also be some sort of reason. There's no way in hell that they will accept my offer. In exchange for their 600 million debt, they will give me the company worth 2.3 billion.

'Wait, Greece?' I stood up as I realized something.

I once again grabbed my phone and contacted my secretary. "Lucy! Check all my ties and connections with Greek companies, then send them to my e-mail, ASAP!"

'Damn! This should be a trap! '

I was walking hysterically while thinking of something. I do have lots of connections in Greece since they have the most successful shipping company in the world, and Druid Corps is a shipping company. There's no doubt that I have a good relationship with Maxer, their CEO, but it's not coming into pieces! Supplies can't go bankrupt in Greece, so why? My whole body is shaking, it just doesn't feel right. My strength is slowly being depleted, my thoughts are draining me, I can't even lift my fingers.

There must be a- - -

As I finally grasped what was happening, the sky slowly transformed to a hue of black.

The bright day turned to an eerie night, my watch showed twelve-five, yet something felt off track. In desperation, I let out a piercing cry as though my veins would burst and the world would know. But in return, the darkness grew evermore, engulfing all, leaving me with nothing to show. Trembling, I was rooted to the spot, unable to fathom what lay ahead. It seemed like the god of darkness had triumphed, as the light of Ra had now fled.

A void enveloped my very soul, no sight, no sound, no thought to grasp. A consuming sensation that took its toll, devouring my being, an endless clasp. I strained to see a glimmer of light, in hopes that this nightmare would soon end. But alas, the darkness was infinite, an abyss that had no beginning nor end.

I shut my eyes, hoping for relief, from this ghastly and ominous feel. But all I found was a haunting belief.

That the darkness was all that was real.
