Chapter 7 - Chapter 6: Research Guild

I decided to go with what Olivia says. After all, I have no other option. I'm new to this world, and Olivia's offer is to become part of the research guild. It's a perfect opportunity to learn new things.

A man in a white lab gown with long hair nods as he checked my paper, "Hmm, I think we found a genius in you Vander."

I just smirked in agreement.

As part of registration in their guild, they made me answer series of exams, it's kind of an IQ test, and they also tested my response to different real-life situations. I wonder what's next?

"Uhmm, is there anything else after this?" I asked.

"Hmm, there's supposed to be another test, but you have are an exception since you got a perfect score in the exam, and you also have ostensibly no necro inside your body which should be necessary for the next test." He replied as he led me to another hallway with many rooms on both sides.

'Room 104.'

After a while, we stopped in a room.

"This is your room" He smiled at me. "If you have questions, just approach one of the staff here, you will recognize them if they wear red collars."

He seems to be a staff, but why isn't he wearing red collars?

"It seems like it's too fast, I thought it would be hard to get in here."

"Why? Don't you want to? You're smart Vander, your knowledge is beyond my comprehension, considering that you literally just woke up from 'deep sleep'." He even nods in amazement. "You're a precious subject, especially your case; the mysterious reason why you don't have any necro, perhaps we can find something about you that can help us fight kuishinbos."

But I don't feel right, though. I'm getting praised for something I didn't work for - Oh wait! It's still me, but it's a different me? Geez.

"Besides, you wouldn't want to sleep outside knowing that anytime you can die right? It would be best for you to stay here here where you will be protected."

"You're right, it's not that I don't have any other choice, but for me, staying here is the best choice life could possibly offer. Right, Mr?" I offered my hands to him as if I'm meeting one of my business partners. After all, courtesy is one of the businessmen should practice.

"Zyrus Valencia"

"You can call me Zyrus," He replied as he reached out his hand.

"Pleasure to work with you sir Zyrus," I replied while reaching out his hand.

"Nice! You have the brains, you also have the courtesy, congratulations Mr. Vander." He smiled in response as he pulled a remote-like object from the pocket of his lab gown.

He seems to have put some code or something before handing it over to me.

"This will be your key in your room, remember not to give this key to anyone else except me unless it's extremely necessary. Tomorrow you will wake up at 6:00 in the morning for our briefing on rules and responsibilities. Make sure to get in time to maintain a good impression okay? " I nodded in response. "Good, then see you tomorrow, for now, I'll be leaving." He immediately turned around and raised his hand to me. Suddenly, he disappeared like a bubble.

'Is this a good decision? Well, hope so "┐ (∵) ┌

"So? How was your first stay?" Olivia suddenly approached me while I was walking to go nowhere.

"Hey! There you are." I smiled at her. "Well, I have to say thank you! The room is so freaking good, I did not expect."

I saw her eyes widen because she was so close to me. "So a VIP eh?" She smiled at me.

"VIP? I thought I just got a membership, why VIP?"

"What is the name of our captain?" She suddenly mentioned.

I turned to her in surprise.

"Uhmm, Zyrus Valencia? Is he our captain? Hahaha, why did you ask?"

"That's the reason why you got into the VIP."

"Huh?" (* _ *)

"Sir Zyrus is also known as Mr. Metous, short for meticulous, though he is just a captain of the research guild, he is a triple S rank vanguard and a part of Glorious 5 of Lumiere City.

"Triple S rank? Glorious 5?" I was surprised, though I have a faint idea what was that about. But of course, I should clarify it first.

"Hmm well, I'm not sure how to explain that, but the reason why I'm saying this is, despite being in the weakest guild here in the city, Sir Meto is a very powerful and cautious person who never fails to secure his work. He is also well-trained, courteous, and a very prim person. "

"And?"

"And because of that, his standards are high, but once you meet that, you'll benefit from it a lot. In your case, you already met one of his standards. "

"And what is that?"

"Courtesy"

I see, good thing courtesy is something that I practiced a long time ago. It's already part of me, considering that some of my traits remained even after all years that passed.

I checked my watch I got in the room. I guess they're giving it to me, but anyway, it's still 5:30. I just preceded too much only in case something comes up, I won't be late.

"If you respect the person you will know his name, and you asking for his name is already an act of courtesy." She even explained. She turned slightly to me and smiled. "Aren't you wondering why sir captain doesn't have a nameplate on his clothes? That's mainly because he wants to test new applicants and people who enter this place if they show respect to him by asking his name."

"Hmm, I see, so I guess that's the second test, right?"

"Right and just so you know, passing the first test is extremely hard, but the second test is harder."

"Why is that? I thought you are already part of the guild if you passed the first test."

"Well, there you go." I noticed that while talking, Olivia suddenly turned around. I do not know where we are going, I also did not say, but I guess she's leading me to the right place?

"You might pass the first test easily, but once you have entered, if you haven't passed the second test, your room will be programmed to have such a hard condition making you think that this place is a fuckin' hell." She said as she glanced back at me.

"But there's a catch, once you have endured it for one month, your room will be programmed with a better condition like your room."

I shook my head off and smirked. "Such a weird rule."

She pointed her finger, "Well, that's what makes this guild extra special. We are all disciplined here." She smiled while her head is "Anyhow, I never thought you could pass that at first because you didn't look like a man of courtesy."

"Did I mention that I used to be a businessman? A very successful one to be precise, it's a must for every businessman to be courteous, guess I brought that habit up here."

"By the way, sir Xyrus he's such a weird but interesting person." I just mentioned it out of nowhere.

"Yep, and make sure you are in a good relationship with him."
