I kept on running and running until I almost entirely ran out of breath. When I realized that I'm somehow far enough, I decided to stop and looked around, realizing that I'm already in the middle of the battlefield. My eyes wandered around all over, and everything seems so realistic,
'I wonder what technology they are using?' I asked myself.
I looked back, expecting to see the guy with spiky hair behind me. But I was wrong, he's nowhere to be found, and I don't even know what happened to him. I would want to leave him behind, but this is training, a simulation for real-life scenarios. If this is real, then I can't just let that guy who 'saved' my life die because of me.
'But what can I do?'
I was lost in my thoughts when suddenly, a woman wearing seemingly heavy armor with brown wings and a large sword behind her appeared in front of me. She seems to be as tall as me, and she's quite a beauty with her brown eyes, blonde hair, and charming poise. I was taken aback by her swiftness. Her speed generated a wind wave that frightened me.
She pointed her swords in front of me, "Who are you? What are you doing here?"
"Hi, my name is Vander. I ran from there to escape a horde of kusihinbos." I replied with a worried expression etched on my face while pointing in the direction where I came from.
"So Kisona is there?" She asked. I remained silent because I don't know who the hell is Kisona.
"The guy with spiky hair." She added.
"Oh yes! He's there, I thought he's with me, but right now I think he's fighting the horde of kuishinbos there." I said so casually. He's strong, so maybe he can fight all of th-
"What the fuck is he doing?" She looked in the direction where Kisona should be, and she rushed towards that direction.
"Wait for me!" I shouted.
I once again ran very fast to follow that woman. As I slowly come closer, I see numbers of kuishinbo jumping and moving swiftly from one place to another. That woman and Kisona seem to be fighting them.
'Should I go?' I asked myself. But what can I do? I am useless, I am not like them, I don't have any wea-
Wait! is that a weapon? I don't know, but it looks like the weapon that Charlanders use since a dead soldier is nearby. I picked up the sword, it isn't as big as the woman earlier, I think I can lift this one. The moment I picked it, a bright glow flashed in my eyes. It seems to have responded with my touch. I noticed something odd on the sword's pommel. Some numbers seem to have been rolling on it, and after a few seconds, these numbers moving stopped and showed five zeroes with three dots after.
What do these numbers could mean?
*Sylve's POV"
"What the hell happened?" That was weird. I thought he had no necro. "Did you see that, Leon?"
"Yes, I did not expect that." He said as he rubs his chin as if he's thinking deeply.
"He is pretty lucky to find such a good weapon, but that thing's capability will depend on someone's necro count. The sword glowed, and not just glowed but it glowed brightly as soon as he touched it. What happened?"
"I wish I knew but, I really had no idea," Leon answered calmly.
That's weird as fuck, it's been known that he has no necro, but that sword is a 'Lightbane,' a sword specially made for Charlanders where its strength depends on the owner's necro. A lightbane, if touched by a new owner, will react and glow respectively to the amount of its owner's necro. Lightbane has its own necro counter, it will determine its owner's strength and will adjust accordingly. The more the necro, the stronger the sword will get. However, it has only a limit of up to 500 necro count. If there are lots of necros, it will shine very bright. If there is little to average amount of necro, its glow is somehow can be similar to a torch.
But this guy, Vander, the lightbane's glow is somewhat similar to Leons's, no maybe even brighter than that, which means he has a necro? And not just necro but lots of those.
"Leon, let's keep a close eye on him."
"Yep I figured that out already."
From the screen, we will keep on monitoring Vander for three days. The good thing is this could be interesting, we won't get bored...hopefully.
Vander rushed from his current position, following Lucia and Kisona.
'Hmm nothing changed with his speed, perhaps the sword is broken?'
Kisona and Lucia are currently fighting almost twenty kuishinbos. Out of all the trainees before, no one could help them succeed or even survive fighting them except Leon, who was once a charlander trainee who quitted after failing the practical exams.
On the other hand, Vander has no necro but is said to have the wits comparable to the guild captain. I wonder how brains can sometimes overcome brawns, or is it even possible?
"What the hell are you doing here?" Kisona asked Vander, who had just arrived
"I don't know, but maybe I could help?" Vander answered as he holds his sword and gestured a fighting form.
"What could you possibly do with such a feeble body?" Lucia butted in while staring at Vander from top to bottom as if analyzing him.
"But I have brains," Vander answered confidently.
"Tsk," Lucia scoffed as she runs in the direction of the monsters.
Kisona just stared at Vander and rushed to one again fight kuishinbos.
Kuishinbos are really hard to deal with. They can be small or large or human size, but killing them would take some time since you can only hurt them using a sword specialized to kill them, called the ashsword. Materials used in creating ashsword comes from the ashes left by the kuishinbos when they are killed. The more ashes on your sword, the more effective it will be. Hurting kuishinbos is not enough. You need to find its core and destroy it before killing it totally. Different kuishinbos have different core locations, just looking for it is already hard but destroying is even harder.
Vander followed the two, but he wasn't able to catch up to them quickly. After arriving at least close to them, he hid in one of the pillars of an almost broken building. Vander seems to be waiting for timing, and when Kisona ran close to him, Vander shouted. "I have a plan! Care to listen?" Kisona stared at him and continued fighting without a response.
"Do you think we will listen to someone as weak as you?" Lucia shouted from above while she is fighting.
"At this point, this fight is getting us nowhere, kuishinbos are not being reduced, you guys are not immortals or something, you might be strong but your stamina soon will run out, no?"
Vander does have a point, he's really taking it seriously, and his response to the situation is very realistic, however...
"Let us hear, if it's plausible, we might consider it." Kisona replied.
"But how can you hear it, you're in the middle of a fight!"
"Go on, we can manage." Lucia said as both of them are still holding on against the kuishinbos.
"Kisona should lure them to this building, I believe among the both of you, he's faster, no?" Vander replied as he held himself against flying debris.
Amazing! He figured that out already after seeing them for a short amount of time. Kisona is faster than Lucia; however, the difference in their speed is only a small margin, and most of the time, it isn't even noticeable.
"Kisona should lure them to a building, and fight them all while destroying the building, I believe Kisona has the ability to escape the building before it collapses right? Meanwhile you Lucia, I think you have boots with speed booster that functions using fuel right? Use that to burn this building, or maybe if you have other ways to make this building explode once the kuishinbos are trap inside, then do it. I believe kuishinbos' movements should be restricted once they are trapped inside, right?"
"Why should we burn the building?" Kisona questioned.
Kisona and Lucia looked at each other as if they were communicating with telepathy.
"Because the the fire will burn them and the buildings that collapsed will crush them, if that happens, it will make it easier for you guys to find the core since kuishinbos' body will certainly adapt to what happened causing them to shapeshift in a gas making their cores transparent for a split second. I believe you can spot those cores within that short amount of time right?"
"Right, it's possible, we can do that for sure," Lucia replied, and it seems that she was convinced.
"Then I guess we should start it now?" Kisona smiled.
Amazing! Vander convinced the two of the highest rank and the most prideful charlanders, even if it's just a system, the original characteristics and traits of the real Lucia and Kisona were used in creating their duplicates.
Apart from that, I should also commend his excellent idea, it's on the spot. Kuishinbos are weak when they shapeshift, their cores are exposed for a short amount of time, and they also become slightly weak and slower for a short period. Vander's idea created a scenario where kuishinbos have to shapeshift, and that's pretty amazing. Even I wouldn't be able to think of that considering the situation.
'Can he really survive this world without a necro?' Hahahaha what I was thinking, this is just training. The strength of kuishinbos and charlanders in real life are nowhere near that.
Kisona began to rush towards different kuishinbos, attacking each of them, and he runs inside the building where Vander is currently standing. The building is slowly showing signs of collapsing, and Vander rushed to a place much farther than the building. On the other hand, Lucia is preparing her speed booster boots to blast it off on the building. A second later, Kisona swiftly came out of the building, and Lucia instantly blasted the entire structure off. Just a moment after the whole building caught on fire, nine transparent kuishinbos were spotted dispersing out of the building as it slowly transformed back to its original form.
Kisona and Lucia immediately attack each kuishinbos' cores at maximum speed. Vander saw how these kuishinbos turned into ashes.
This time, Vander thought kuishinbos are dead for sure, however-
"Hey ! Look!"
Kisona and Lucia let their guard down for a moment as they overlooked another kuishinbo that just came out of the building.
Both of them tried to reach out to Vander but
Is it too late?
