Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Necro

The last thing I remember was the sensation of falling from the sky and landing in a strange place. However, I quickly realized it was just a dream and attempted to regain consciousness by opening my eyes.

As I lifted my head and scanned my surroundings, I noticed that I was lying on the floor of an old, dilapidated building. I stood up and surveyed the area, concluding that I was most likely on the seventh or eighth floor. The only oddities were that I was in my teenage body and the deafening noise in the distance, indicating the presence of other humans.

Wondering how to proceed, I began exploring the area to find a way down. I cautiously navigated through the abandoned office's disarray and dust surroundings, hoping to avoid any potential danger.

Suddenly, a loud noise startled me, and my heart began to race. Although the sound seemed to come from nearby, I couldn't discern its source, causing me to break out in a sweat. Despite my fear, I mustered up the courage to ask, "Who's there?"

The noise ceased abruptly, and I let out a sigh of relief. However, the fear lingered as I continued searching for a way out.

Minutes later, the sound returned, louder and closer than before. Trembling, I searched for something to defend myself, desperately trying to remain calm. I peered out from a large hole in the wall, but the height made me dizzy, causing me to stumble.

'So what now?'

I searched frantically for the source of the noise, but my efforts were in vain until I noticed something peculiar: a viscous liquid was slowly rising and coalescing into a strange shape. The thing appeared in front of a large hole, covering the only source of light and plunging the area into darkness. I slowly retreated until my back was against a wall, and I could go no further.

Suddenly, the liquid transformed into a humanoid figure that was entirely black. Its disfigured head, hands, and feet gave it a grotesque appearance, and it stood six feet tall. I grabbed the nearest object and hurled it at the creature, but to my surprise, it didn't even flinch. My subsequent attempts to fend it off were equally ineffective.

My mind raced as I realized that this was no ordinary human but an unknown creature, and I had no idea how to defend myself against it. As it drew closer, I pushed myself further against the wall, throwing whatever I could at it, but it was futile. "Go away, you shitty dickhead!" I yelled, hoping for a miracle.

With each passing moment, the creature inched closer until I could feel its breath on my face. I closed my eyes, accepting my fate as my life came to an abrupt end.

"Fuck! This won't be a threat if this thing is just a human being. I very much know how to defend myself, but this is not the case! This is an unknown creature! If I get close, I'll probably die." I exclaimed as I consumed my last breath.

I just closed my eyes as I felt this creature approaching me, realizing that it it would be futile to struggle, and it would be easier to accept that this life of mine has ended abruptly.

'Tsk! How unfortunate. '

Aurken's POV

"Aurken! Where are you going?" Blae shouted from afar. She's the vice-captain of this raid.

"Don't mind me!" I shouted. "I saw someone there in the building. I'll check it first."

We lack enough men in this district, so at any cost, we have to find people. After all, it is for the survival of us all.

I started running towards the building where I saw the man. As I got closer and closer, I gradually heard a familiar sound. We hunters both love and hate to hear.

'A Kuishinbo'

Damn it! I accelerated my pace to the sound source, and it led me to an abandoned building. I looked up in a large damaged hole in a wall on the seventh floor of the building and saw a person being driven into a corner by a kuishinbo.

I immediately rushed and climbed up to save the person, but is it too late?

"Dr. Quazano sat beside me and remarked, "It's a good thing you saw him right away."

I smiled in response, "Yes, had I been a few seconds late, he could have been devoured. I'm relieved I made it on time." I let out a deep sigh and then turned to look at the young man in front of me. "Is he alright, sir?" I asked.

Dr. Quazano replied, "Yes, he's fine. He probably just passed out due to fear." He paused and looked at me before continuing, "Anyway, do you plan to include him in the Marauders?"

I nodded eagerly, "Of course! I know he's young, but the earlier we train them, the better. We need fresh blood."

However, he interrupted me, "He is necroless."

I asked, puzzled, "What does that mean?"

Dr. Quazano explained, "It means he doesn't have any necro in his body. I examined his entire body, and not a single necro was found."

I exclaimed in disbelief, "But how can that be? Can someone survive in this world without necro?"

Dr. Quazano elaborated, "While it's true that necro is necessary for survival, it's not the only factor that determines one's strength. We have an element called quark, which is like a building block for the soul. Strange quarks combine with regular quarks to form necros. The more necro one has, the stronger they are. However, even if one has a large number of quarks, without the combination of a strange quark, it won't amount to much. And that's the case with the young man in front of us. He doesn't have any necro, but he has a substantial number of quarks, which means he has the potential to be strong."

I nodded, trying to understand this complicated concept. "So, how can he become stronger without necro?"

Dr. Quazano replied, "He needs to cultivate and meditate his soul to control or increase his quarks. Training the soul is an essential part of training necro. By doing so, he can still become a formidable warrior."

I asked, "But what about the fact that necro is necessary for rebirth? How can he be reborn without necro?"

Dr. Quazano replied, "We don't know yet. This is the first time we've encountered someone without necro. It's possible that he is not a reborn, but we can't say for sure."

I nodded, realizing the gravity of the situation. "I see. I may not understand all the details, but I know that necro is our source of power, and that means everything in this world."

"Let me explain it furthermore, there are two common types of reborn, the first type is being reborn as an infant from a mother, the other one is reborn as they were in their past life. Those kinds of reports have little to average amount of necros" He looked at me. "Are you? You've been reborn as a newborn child, right?"

"Yes, because I am a first-class reborn, so I guess I have average?" I scratched my head because I am quite unsure. "And I can't afford to purchase any necro enhancer or cultivate anything to enhance my soul power, so let's leave it like that." I giggled.

"Yes, however, there is also another type of reborn, which are very rare."

I remained silent and listened to everything he said.

"This type produces humans with massive amounts of necros in their body. In this case, one is being reborn with half of their actual age. I only knew five people being reborn like this; the first one is Reeve Giraudus."

"What the? Reeve Giraudus? The Vasilia?" The Vasilia, Vasillia means 'king' Reeve Giraudus is the king of the new world, the strongest reborn ever lived.

"Yes, the reason for his immense power is his ability to control the excessive amount of necros present in his body."

"I don't get it. What kind of connection are you saying to the patient's situation." I insist.

"Too hasty Aurken, I just gave you an overview for you to understand the third type I mentioned. In the process of being reborn with half of one's actual age, it can drain one's necro if the necro of a reborn is not enough. This is why reborns of this class are extremely talented considering just the fact that they were able to provide the necessary amount of necro in their reborn state, which means they have massive amounts of necro. "

I'm not that smart , but I totally get the gist of what he is saying. "So basically, what you're trying to say, doc is-"

He cut me off again. "Yes, there's a huge possibility that what you brought here was a third-class reborn that ran out of necro during the reborn state." He stopped for a moment. "However, it's just a theory. This is the first time this has happened, so I can't conclude yet."

"We'll know that when he wakes up, so let's just wait." I nod at what he said and said, "Yes."
