Synopsis
Delyth; The girl who took her power as a beautiful young lady for granted. The girl who would use her looks to get what she wanted, to be able to get away with things she shouldn't be able to. Sylvie; The girl who took her anger out on the innocent, the girl who didn't stop to appreciate what was giving her fresh air to breathe. Vaan; The boy who was too reckless to see the big picture, too reckless to comprehend the real meaning to not be scared of death, too reckless to care for other's well-being. Solon; The boy who used his intelligence as a weapon. The boy who instead of using his mind to help society, used it for his own gain. Those are all completely different people. But if they were really so different from each other then why were they put together to survive in such a situation? How did they even end up in this place? Stuck in a stupid video game. With a system they were yet to understand. A system that would bring back their worst memories and tell them to face it, a system that would force enemies to become frenemies, a system where the only way out and back to having normal lives is by completing challenges and gaining points. Challenges that seem all too targeted against each of them. Little do they know, they were put in this situation for a reason. What is this reason you may ask? Well that's for me to know, and for you to find out. Each character has done something, taken something for granted, something that they will soon come to realize it's real meaning. Their abilities inside of the game each have a meaning, a meaning that might make sense if they knew what each of their names meant. Accompany these four different teenagers as they try to figure out why they were put in this situation and why they're forced to work together despite the tension between some of them. All you need to know is the one thing they all have in common, the reason they are here in the first place is the first message they saw as realization dawned on them as they entered the game. "You're going to have to Face Your Mistakes if you want to make it out of this game alive."

Chapter 1 - •Delyth•

[ 𝙽𝚊𝚖𝚎: 𝙳𝚎𝚕𝚢𝚝𝚑.

𝙼𝚎𝚊𝚗𝚒𝚗𝚐: 𝙿𝚛𝚎𝚝𝚝𝚢 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚋𝚕𝚎𝚜𝚜𝚎𝚍 ]

April 18th, Wednesday, 2051.

Delyth slowly opened her eyes as her face was gently caressed by a ray of sunlight. The light danced on her green-grey irises as her pupils slightly dilated due to her finally gaining consciousness after being asleep for 8 hours.

Delyth barely got to stretch before a voice was heard calling out from downstairs.

"Del! don't forget you have school today, make sure to get ready!" Her mother called out.

Del quickly looked at the clock hanging on her wall, in a panic, realization hit her.

[ 7:46 A.M. ]

"Sh*t! I'm going to be late again, damn it!" Delyth said as she jumped off her bed, almost falling face first into her carpet as she did so.

Delyth rushed into the bathroom, quickly getting ready.

She barely had any time to think before she practically threw herself down the stairs.

She had already gotten two strikes at school as it is. She couldn't afford getting a third because that meant she had to stay after school on the weekends cleaning after everyone.

Her mother couldn't even process the gust of wind that just passed in front of her, as her daughter quickly dashed for the door.

As Delyth arrived at her school she immediately ran into class, checking her watch as she did so.

[ 7:59 A.M. ]

Damn, only one minute left to waste, she somehow managed to make it from her house to class in a matter of minutes. The Flash must be shaking right now-

Delyth scurried into her seat as her teacher walked into the room only seconds after her.

It's crazy how even in the year 2051 the government still didn't have Artificial Intelligence teach classes instead of actual people.

Maybe it was because of the wisdom a person can hold.

Delyth wasn't complaining about this of course, in fact she actually quite liked it as it was at her favor.

As the school day ended, everyone had left the classroom except for her teacher of course, and her?

This wasn't the first time she stayed back after hours.

"Delyth, we need to address your grades regarding this class." The teacher adjusted his glasses as he glanced at her.

Delyth slowly approached her superior as she was constructing a plan in her head.

"Yeah, I've noticed my grades dropped drastically, but I feel like we can make an exception." Delyth replied, honey in her voice.

Her teacher looked at her expectantly. "Oh, really? and how do you suppose we do that?"

"I think actions speak louder than words." Delyth said as she slowly stepped closer.

-----

Delyth walked with her friends towards a café nearby.

"Hey, are you guys going to the party tonight?" One of the girls asked.

Most of them agreed whilst others mentioned they had things to tend to.

"Hm? Party? What party? I never heard anything about that." Delyth asked curiously.

"Oh, Of course you didn't hear about it" The friend from before rolled her eyes then a smirk crept up on her face. "You were too busy...ahem.. talking.. with the teacher."

"Oh shut it, we were just talking about my grades." Delyth tried defending herself.

"mhm~ that's what they all say." The friend said as the others giggled. "Anyways to answer your question, Jax is hosting a party tonight at 9. You gonna come?"

"Yeah, I'll try, but we all know how my mother can be sometimes." Delyth replied slightly disappointed.

The conversation was cut short as they arrived at the local café.

The girls all placed their orders, as Delyth went last.

"I'll have a caramel macchiato with.. extra whip cream if you may." Delyth said winking towards the male that was taking her order.

The male looked taken aback by her approach.

She can't stop can she?

Was this how she was on the daily?

Delyth almost walked back to her group of friends until she remembered something.

"Oh- by the way, there doesn't seem to be a discount I can get, right?" Delyth turned towards the same guy, fluttering her eyelashes.

"Uh-uh I'll see what I can do." The male said, flustered.

A female waitress was looking at the scene before her with an indescribable look on her face. "Disgusting" The female mumbled under her breath as she glared daggers into Delyth's back.

"Woah Del, how'd you get that drink for free? I swear one day you're gonna have to teach me your ways." One of Delyth's friends stated with an eyebrow raised.

Delyth just smirked slightly as they all walked back.

-----

"Mom, I'm home!" Delyth yelled into her house as she entered.

"Oh- Hunny, how was your day?" Her mother asked.

"It was okay." Delyth replied remembering the incidents of today. "Bye the way, mom, there's this party a friend of mine is holding and I was wondering if-"

Delyth started but was immediately cut off by her mother. "Absolutely not! What do you expect to do with your life if you're always just going to parties?!"

There she goes again...

This wasn't the first time this happened with Delyth, this was a typical reaction from her mother.

After her mother had finished her 'stupid' lecture as Delyth would say, Delyth went into her room left with only her thoughts.

Delyth's thoughts were cut off by a cold night breeze.

Her eyes trailed to the side as she looked up to see where the wind came from only to be met with her open window.

She must have forgotten to close it this morning-

Wait..

Window?

An idea popped into Delyth's head as her eyes grew wide.

'If my birth giver isn't going to let me go, who says I can't go on my own terms?' Delyth thought as a smirk creeped upon her face.

Delyth slowly opened her door as she peeked out of it, only to see her mother sitting on the couch watching T.V.

She quickly closed the door back again as she searched for shirts or any type of cloths she could tie together to possibly make a rope that can be long enough to reach the ground from the window.

Her smirk grew as her eyes landed on a pile of blanket sheets on the floor.

"Perfect" She said.

She soon tied everything together and now it was time for action.

She had called her friends to drive by and pick her up as if they were her getaway car.

-----

April 19th, Thursday, 2051.

Delyth had lost track of time while she was at the party and completely forgot to head home.

She knew she had f*cked up when she saw the blazing inferno in the sky.

It was already morning and she still wasn't home.

She panicked as she quickly grabbed her belongings and completely booked it towards her house, not even having time to say goodbye.

She arrived back home praying that her mother hadn't noticed she was gone yet.

As she slowly opened the door, she wished she were blind as to not see what was standing before her.

Her mother was standing at the doorway completely furious.

If a person could be the definition of a death glare, it would be her mother right at this moment.

Delyth was tempted to close the door and turn around as if nothing happened.

But she knew better than that right?

Wrong.

Delyth did a complete 180° as she immediately tried to book it.

But she was quickly held back as a hand grabbed her by the hair.

Well.. Sh*t..

So that plan went down the drain quickly.

This situation was basically that quote... What was it again? Oh-

'Don't run away from your problems, kids. If you can't face them you can always eat cake-'

Or uh... something like that.

"Where have you been young lady?!" Her mother started, venom dripping from her voice.

Delyth was praying for herself for her to be able to get out of this alive.

I'll spare you the details because let's just say... It wasn't pretty. *Shivers*

-----

Delyth was in the basement of her house as one of the many punishments she received from the woman who suffered for 9 months just to give birth to her.

She was being forced to clean this dusty place.

Delyth winced as she saw a mouse run by from the corner of her eye.

As Delyth was cleaning, something had caught her eye.

Behind all the dust and spider webs there was a slight glimmer behind a sheet.

She slowly approached this curious as to what it was and why was it covered by a white cloth.

As she faced it she took a deep breath as she held on to the corner of the cloth.

She ripped it off quickly, soon regretting her choice as dust filled her lungs.

She immediately started coughing. Putting a hand up to over her mouth from inhaling any more dust, she tilted her head to the side as she saw some sort of machine? computer? She didn't know exactly what this was, but it looked old.

It slightly resembled an Arcade Machine from way back when.

Out of everything in this basement, this... 'Machine' was in the best shape.

She couldn't help her curiosity as she examined the machine.

"Hm? No plugs- or cables-" Delyth mumbled as she got closer, tracing her hand across it's many different designs and symbols. "How does this even work?"

Delyth's eyebrows scrunched up as she was trying to figure out how this machine function.

She didn't even realize her hand had been wandering unconsciously until it was too late.

She had clicked something.

*Buzz*

The machine started vibrating and before she could even react a loud screech was heard coming from it.

It was hard for her ears to comprehend.

If there was a way she could describe it, it's like nails dragging across a chalk board, but 20× worse.

She had closed her eyes tightly as her hands flew to cover her ears.

Soon... The Screeching stopped.

The air had changed...

Something felt different.

Delyth was too scared to open her eyes up again, but she had somehow plucked courage out of nowhere and opened her eyes.

As she blinked her eyes open she found herself to be in a completely unfamiliar area...

After a couple of seconds, but what seemed like hours to Delyth, something appeared in front of her.

It took up most of her vision space as she tried to focus as to what it was.

It was as if there was a title screen right in front of her- but that's impossible right?- that wouldn't make sense.

Well to be fair, none of this was making sense to her at the moment.

Delyth's eyes took a second to adjust before she started reading what was in front of her.
