Chapter 3 - •Vaan•

Vaan was quite a reckless teen, he barely showed up to class, would neglect his responsibilities and just overall be careless about such things... Even when it came to his life.

He would barely take any situation seriously as he was basically the definition of "Live while you're young".

He would literally live as if he was going to die the next day, which let's be honest.. would probably end up happening if he continued his reckless ways.

April 18th, Wednesday, 2051.

It was just another normal day, The birds were chirping and leaves were gently rustling against each other as the wind pierced through them as it hit a window with a gust.

"Shawty's like a melody in my head-"

The hell was that?

Was that an alarm? If so then why on earth would someone have that as their alarm?

A groan is heard in the distance as a male brunette with green highlights extended an arm to stop his alarm.

"Ugh, what time is it?" The male groaned out as he glanced up, barely being able to see as his hair had covered his eyes due to him just waking up.

[ 12:14 P.M. ]

"Why the hell did my alarm wake me up so early?" Vaan closed his eyes as he stretched.

Pfft- early? this was early for him?

It was a school day and he had already missed most of his classes, but he didn't seem to care.

In fact, that was the farthest thing from his mind.

His eyes widened as realization struck him.

"V-Vollyball practice!" Vaan said, panic slowly taking over him as he rushed to grab his volleyball bag and clothes.

He got himself ready in a rush as he quickly scurried to his school volleyball gym.

That was one of the only things he actually cared about.

Volleyball.

As he entered the building he was soon met with his coach's disappointed eyes as he shook his head glancing at his wristwatch.

"Late as usual, but just in time for my announcement." His coach stated.

Vaan put his bag down as he joined the rest of his team with listening to what their coach had to say.

"We have a big match coming up and we need to practice with one of the best schools out there, well to be more specific, H.I.S.Y.M. so we're staying the night at their school with their volleyball team." The coach explained as most of the boys got excited.

Vaan was quite excited too you could say...

But there was always this one thing that disturbed him in the back of his head.

From all the years he's played volleyball, he's always been second place when it came to boy's high school volleyball players..

He was never once able to be in first place.

And it was always the same name.. That same stupid name, that always somehow found a way to surpass him.

This situation wouldn't be bugging him as much if he knew who it was.

But that was part of the problem.

He didn't.

In fact, he had never heard of him in his life.

Which is crazy to think. How can you be number one, but barely even be heard of.

Honestly, Vaan thought he was hallucinating, the boy in first place just felt like he was a mystery.. almost as if he was but a mere shadow.

Vaan's train of thought was soon cut off by his teammates tapping his shoulders as a way to try to gain his attention.

"Dude, you've been spaced out for a couple minutes now." His teammate said worriedly. "Come on, we need to practice."

Vaan soon followed behind them, putting those thoughts in the back of his head once again.

-----

The team had finally arrived at the other school after a long day.

The sun was already being hidden behind clouds as it slowly exchanged places behind the moon.

As the team and their coach walked in, they were met with a man in his middle Ages gave them all a welcoming smile.

That same man who Vaan assumed to be the coach of this school's male volleyball team had a group of guys behind him.

Each team had barely even greeted each other as it seemed to be that they were all just here for a match.

H.I.S.Y.M.'s coach proudly introduced each of his members proudly.

Vaan was barely paying attention to his little introduction, but his ears soon perked up because of what he heard next.

"And here we have our setter also know as our lovely number one player in the boy's high school category." The coach said proudly as he pointed towards a male with silver hair while the boy he was referring to couldn't help but smirk slightly and accidentally let out a low chuckle.

-----

Vaan's P.O.V

He's number one?! The hell? who even is that kid?

What type of stupid team name is H.I.S.Y.M anyways?

What does that sh*t even stand for?

'How I set your mother?'

-----

Vaan's thoughts were soon cut off once again by his coach, only this time it was a double effort as both coaches spoke.

"You boys can head to the rooms where you'll be sleeping now, each group separately of course." The coaches stated. "Aaron, show them the way."

The coach said as he pointed towards a guy from H.I.S.Y.M. ordering him to lead the way.

-----

Vaan walked into the room the team was sharing as he slowly layed down on one of the sleeping bags placed on the floor.

Before he even knew it, he had fallen asleep.

I guess he was tired without even noticing it.

He slept, but that barely lasted a couple hours as he soon woke up feeling like he just came back from the desert.

April 19th, Thursday, 2051.

He blinked as his eyes tried to adjust to the darkness in the room, it wasn't exactly night time, it was really early in the morning.

4:00 A.M perhaps?

The only light coming from the moon as it shined through the window.

He debated in his head whether or not he should wake someone up to ask for where the kitchen was of some sort, or at least a place he can get some water.

But he soon just came to the decision that he could handle it himself and he'd somehow be able to find it sooner or later.

As Vaan walked down the hallway looking for anything that looked remotely close to a kitchen, he had heard a creek which made him stop in his tracks as turn his head towards where the sound came from.

Shortly after that creek came a click.

Vaan thought this was just his head messing with him until-

Click.

He heard it again..

There's no way he was imagining this so he went to check out what was making these rather curious noises.

As he did, he was met face to face with a long wooden door that was slightly open.

Curiosity had gotten the best of him at that moment and without any hesitation, he opened it.

Only to be met with the same silver haired boy from before 'Mr. number one' looking like a dear in headlights once he noticed that someone had walked in.

Vaan didn't know much about what he just caught him doing, but he knew for sure that this guy wasn't supposed to be in this room.

The light from the laptop that layed on the desk illuminated the boys facial features.

Vaan glanced around as the boy struggled to come up with something to say in this situation.

From what Vaan could observe, this was an office. The coach's office perhaps?

Vaan couldn't stop the smirk from creeping up on his face when realization dawned on him as to what he might have just caught.

Vaan immediately took long strides towards the desk where the laptop was and quickly turned it to face him for him to be able to read it, barely giving the boy behind the desk any time to react.

Vaan's eyebrows scrunched together quickly as he figured out what was happening and what that boy was doing here in the first place.

He couldn't believe his eyes as he skimmed through what was written on the screen. It was as if all his unanswered questions had been answered right before him just by what was in front of him.

He was enraged. He... He didn't even know how to describe what he was feeling, but either way, he knew he couldn't keep himself from acting on it recklessly.

He couldn't handle the anger that came out of him as he immediately lashed out on the guy.

He completely pounced on top of him as the other boy tried to dodge him.

Vaan was never paying attention to his surroundings during this, but he had knocked an item over as he was swinging at the male beneath him at the moment.

He threw the silver-head against something large, but the male had taken him down with him.

The fight had come to an abrupt stop when they heard an absolutely treacherous noise ring through their ears.

"What the hell is that?!" The silver headed male spoke for the first time.

Vaan was about to make a snarky remark but the air had felt completely different as he got slightly dizzy.

He adjusted his eyes once again, but this time it wasn't dark.. in fact this time he was adjusting his eyes only to be met with a completely new and unfamiliar environment.

Before he could even process anything he heard a thud-

Then another.

Both had only a couple seconds between each thud.

Vaan barely paid attention to those thuds as he was too in shock at what was happening.

Confusion was written all over his face as he tried to figure out what type of situation he had gotten himself into, was it even himself that got him in this situation? He did have a clue as to what was happening.

As his eyes slowly adjusted, he was met with a once again unfamiliar thing.

But no, this time it wasn't his surroundings.

This time, it was words.
