Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

Augustine's Pov

Oh, no, no, no....what the hell am I thinking? I can't do this! I need to turn back around now.

I can't possibly be kidnapping human girls.

I breathed, I'm panicking...how can she do this to me? How can she turn me into a mess? I can't even think right now and I can't stand it when I don't think straight. I make a lot of mistakes.

I should turn around.

No, I need time to think. it's good to think right now. We are on top of the tower, the wind whipping hard over here. The wind helps me think.

I looked at her, her eyes lidded, her pulse steady, her breathing shallow. She looked so peaceful and innocent.

I can't possibly kill her, she doesn't deserve it. But if I erased her memory, she'll just keep seeing me and it's just a matter of time before the rest of the supernatural world become aware of her.

She needed my protection, her psychic ability is only going to get stronger and she'll see more angels, spirits, demons later. She'll start seeing the ugliness of the world that's beyond human.

I need to return her home.

I'm sorry. I panicked but I decided just now, I should be protecting her instead of killing her. My own kind may come after her, demons may find out about her, but this is what I needed to do.

My mind is made up as I carried her up in my arms and flew back to her home. My speed was fast, invisible to humans, we made it back to her home in less than a blink of an eye and dropped her back to her bed.

When she wakes up, this will all be nothing but a dream. Just like those other times when I was with her, when we made contacts. She knew them as vivid dreams and nothing else. I was a pigment of her imagination until we met at her school today.

Careful as I laid her back down gingerly on her bed, I spread the cover over her before I turned around and exited through her window, making sure I secured it this time so she may not have her suspicions. I've been careless before.

"You know, when you had me involved in your little escapades, I figured I needed to know what's going on."

I flinched, startled by the voice above me. It was Celena, her arms crossed to her chest, giving me that famous contemptuous glare of hers. She was sitting on the rooftop. I guess, she took it upon herself to investigate.

I looked up, my eyes narrowing at her. "What else did you want me to do? I can't involve anyone else. You're the only one I can trust."

"I that so?" She answered, her scornful glare disappearing. "You should just kill her and get it over with."

"I considered it, and I had went as far as hauling her with me, but I can't do it. I can't kill her, Celena. I don't have it in me."

She snorted and leaned back relaxing with her hands supporting her weight behind her. "Since when did you became a coward?"

I hurled myself to the rooftop to join her, sitting beside her. "I'm not a coward. There're people out there who don't deserve untimely death."

"But you are an angel of death. Killing is what you do. You kill without thinking."

"That may be, but...." My words dissolved in my throat, I can't seem to explain my reasons to her. "I'm trying to figure it out myself."

She sighed and gazed at me with soft concerned eyes. "You're treading a thin line here, Augustine. You know what happens when angels fall in love."

"Yes..." I breathed. "We lose our power and become human."
