Chapter 19 - Chapter 19

Augustine's pov

There she was, sick to her stomach and I knew I'm the reason why. I saw how nervous she was, how confused she was and it's making me so happy.

I know I shouldn't find joy in her suffering, watching her lose the train of her thoughts when I'm around but I couldn't help it. I wish I could just wrap her around my protective wings and whisk her away private with me.

I did that…I kidnapped her not too long ago, but…

I sighed helplessly, her violent vomiting is really distracting me. And the reek of that bile veiled this entire hallway.

Oh, Jade….I crooned inside my head, you really are a mess, aren't you.

Please, pass out already. I don't want to see you like this any longer.

….and there you go. My wish granted. Your knees wobbled unable to support your weight. Your head was so heavy and you are so dizzy, everything swirled, and spun until the world around you is a blur dimming slowly until it wrapped itself around you.

You passed out and I felt relieved that you did.

This is my cue, I'm supposed to walk up to you and lift you into my arms like your personal prince charming and I have no problem filling the part. I will do a good job at it, and I will mount you on my steed and take you away.

Lift.

Damn, you're so light. I know this is the second time I carried you in my arms but I still couldn't believe how weightless you are. Do you even eat, Jade? Or your metabolism is just naturally high? I don't blame you, you're still young, your body is working overtime.

I took you to the clinic, and laid you in bed. I could've left but why would I do that? I made a promise to protect you and right now seemed like the perfect time. You're alone, and sick in this tiny room. You need me.

You need me to watch you while you rest and sleep.

Oh? You're walking up now. Soft moans scaping through your lips and, oh, how I love the sound of that. Your eyes fluttered and those long black lashes are so dashing. You looked beautiful even covered in your own vomit.

Your eyes swayed to me, I'm the first person you saw when you woke up and it took you a second to realized it was me.

"Augustine?" You murmured my name with such softness, with hidden affection like you were almost embarrassed. That's okay, Jade. You don't have to be embarrass when you whisper my name. I like it when you do, there's no shame in it.

Your cheeks heated and I could tell you're nervous again.

I will save you the trouble of talking. "You're sick. I need to take you home."

Before she can answer, there this boy again. God dammit, why is he here? I swear to my employer; this boy is starting to get on my nerves. I'm about ready to kill him if only I could find an excuse to do so.

This arrogant punk thinks he's Jade's boyfriend, prancing in here thinking he owns her.

I bit my lip as I looked at him, waiting for that confrontation. I could sense all that hormones raging in him. He can't stand me as much as I can't stand him.

Okay, the feeling is mutual. That's a relief.

"What the hell is he doing here?" He asked confrontationally.
