Jade's pov
I don't know why he's acting like a boyfriend in charge of me. The nerves of him chasing Augustine away. James and I have no romantic relations with each other.
James's wide chest lifted as he let out a hard exhale. "Fine," he turned a reluctant gaze at Augustine and said, "thanks for bringing her here."
"You're welcome." Answered Augustine bemused, perhaps he was as confused with James possessiveness as I am.
"Let's go, Jade." Said James quickly ignoring Augustine as if he was blown by the wind and became inexistent. "Good thing, I brought my car today. I'll give you a ride home."
"No." Augustine interrupted, a slow smile drew up his lips. "I was about to take her home myself before you barged in rudely on us."
"What're you talking about?" James growled frowning.
He stepped toward Augustine, chest poked out, shoulders broadened. "Look transfer student....don't be putting the moves on Jade. You might be handsome, and you might smell like roses right now, but I've known her since we were children and I'll be damn if I let some fuck boy like you slither his way on her."
"...And it's okay if you did, just because you two were childhood friends?...Hmmm?" Augustine retorted, raising his eyebrows. He was not at all intimidated by James. "I believe our intentions are exactly the same."
"Guys stop. I can call my mom and she'll come pick me up."
They glared at each other, and for a moment, I thought James was going to throw his fist at Augustine. But he calmed down, like something clicked inside his head.
"Go back to the classroom, James." Said Augustine smoothly, hypnotically. "I will take care of her."
For some odd reason, everything about James came into sudden serene. A wave of tranquility washed over him, and he suddenly seemed relaxed. He did nothing more but turned his heel and marched his way out of the room without even saying good bye. Not a single word to me as he left, he didn't even look at me on his way out which was odd.
"Now, can I take you home?" Said Augustine after James had gone.
I stared at him with mixture of disbelief and disorientation.
My mouth opening and closing, trying to convey what I just witnessed. "What just happened?"
Augustine smiled as if there's nothing strange with what just happened. "I believed he just left and I'm about to take you home."
