Chapter 6 - Smelly Uncle

Huh? That was weird. They are definitely hiding something from me. "*Sigh* anyways I need to check to see if Shiro has a suit for the party. Guess I'll call him after making dinner." Daiken said to himself as he continued to finish making the twin's favorite food. Adding in extra meat for Aika and extra noodles with chopped vegetables for Haru. Daiken put the three bowls on the dining/kitchen table.

He put some udon noddles into one of the smallest bowl and put some Miso soup into another one and place them both on top of a tiny serving tray which fit the two bowls perfectly. He then proceeded to a small cabinet, opening it there were a few incense sticks in a glass and flowers around the insides of the cabinet. In the center of it all was a picture of a beautiful woman. In a golden frame was a woman wearing a bright bubble gum pink dress, she wore a yellow sunhat which had a crimson red ribbon around it. The lady had kind eyes and tan skin to compliment them. She had an amazing duchenne smile which was highlighted by her light make up and rosy pink lips. Placing the two bowls next to the picture Daiken put his hand together and said "Hi mom. I made your favorite: Miso soup and udon noodles. You always said that you liked my Miso soup. Hehe" tearing up Daiken continued although he knew his voice was cracking "Did you know today was the first time that the twins kept something from me. Aoi's mother woke up today after a few days when she was unconscious. Isn't that amazing? He even started to cry when he found out. For a well built guy he sure is a crybaby." Daiken chuckled when he finished that sentence. "I miss you everyday mum. Everywhere I go it reminds me of how loving you were to me. I miss you dearly. I really hope your doing well up there. An-"

As Daiken was about to finish talking to his mother the door bell rang. "Speak of the devil" Daiken told himself as he slowly strode to the door only to find out that his imoto was already at the door standing on top of a chair looking through the peep hole. "ah Aniki. I came since I saw you talking to mother." climbing down from the chair she spoke in a quite voice as she continued. "He came back. Doesn't seem like he's drunk. So shall I call Haru?" She asked her big brother. Shaking his head sideways he said "Wait till I call you guys don't come ok?" Daiken continued as he motioned towards the door. "Wait for my signal." Nodding Aika went to her's and Haru's shared room to wait with Haru until Daiken's signal to come out.

'After mother died none of our relatives were willing to look after me, Aika and Haru. The main reason being that neither of us knew who out father was and because mother was despised by them. They hated us too, me, Aika and Haru because we were "Children of a criminal" or something like that. It was whispered around. "orphans who were born from a criminal and an idiot" was a common saying among them.

With a caution Daiken held the door's nob. Turning his head he saw that the twins were watching him from the far corner of the hall way. Giving him an encouraging thumbs up, Daiken proceeded with caution. slowly turning the door nob a small part of a large silhouetted figure showed through. "Jeez Dai~ken what is taking you so longggg?" Said the rough, scratchy, loud voice on the other side of the door.

As soon as the door was completely open Daiken ran as fast as he could to his twin siblings, carrying them he dashed with Aika around his arm and Haru on his shoulder to the garden and locked the back door. Right behind him a was a huge tall black figure that was chasing him until the door got slammed onto his face. "what the he~ll Daiken?!" the voice inside the house said "Why do you always do this?"

'But there was one person who did not care we came from. He treated the three of us like his own. He's a man who worked a nine-to-five hour job. He likes drinking, going on long drives in his Honda Accord and long baths at the bath house. When he comes home he either smells of booze, soap or mildew.

"I am not going to open this door until you have a bath and wash your clothes." Daiken said as he slowly and carefully put Aika and Haru down onto the ground. "Haru can you run to the convenience and get some milk for me please? We are almost out." Daiken said as he reached into his pocket to get some money out. "B-bu-but A-An-Aniki" Haru said stammering. "Listen Haru we have to help you get rid of your stammering and shyness ok?" Daiken continued while giving Haru head pats. Taking the money slowly from his big brother's hand he sprinted slowly towards the market area.

"Aika follow him" Daiken said putting a hand on his younger sister. "Make sure nothing happens." Nodding Aika went the direction that her twin went in. As Daiken was watching until his siblings were out of sight there was a knock on the door. "Hey Daiken. I'm done can you come in now?" the man on the other side spoke. "Are you sure? Did you wash the clothes too?" Daiken questioned the man. "Gosh you and your mom are the same. Yes I washed the clothes and wiped the bathroom as well." The man said with a sigh at the end. "Ok" Daikenn replied opening the door. Closing the door behind him he saw a man dressed in light gray loose pants and a white T-shirt. "Jeez. where's Haru and Aika?"

'Although this man works in a company, he comes home after days. He stays in the company because of his type of job. When he comes home he smells quite bad since when ever the day comes that he stays at the company is irregular he always forgets to take a change of clothes and to have a bath.'

"Haru went to buy milk. Aika is following him." Daiken said to the tall, wet haired man who had a permanent scar on his right eye. "Uncle Fumiaki are you ok with noodles and meat? Or is there anything else you would like to eat?" Daiken continued as he walked to the kitchen. "I didn't think you would come home today so I only cooked for Aika, Haru and me." He said apologetically.

'He is uncle Fumiaki. My mother's step baby brother. She loved him as if he was her own brother. Although he wasn't related to my mother by blood he tried his best to give the three of us the love and support that we needed from parents. He gave us both the motherly and the fatherly love equally to us until I was old enough.'

"It's fine son. I ate before coming home." Patting Daiken's head Fumiaki went to the living room and turned on the T.V right when the door opened which releived Haru and Aika. "We're back~" they said as they came in. "My babies are back!" Fumiaki said as he bolted to the twins and carried them while hugging them super tightly. "U-uncle Fu-fumi ca-can-can't breath" Aika said pushing away uncle Fumi's grasp.

'Uncle Fumi showed us a different kind of love. He taught me that love doesn't have to come only from people related to you by blood. Even blood relatives didn't care nor love us.'

"Aika, Haru and uncle Fumi sit and eat first. Daiken said putting an extra bowl for his uncle. "But I told you I alre-" he was interrupted by the growling of his stomach. Chuckling Daiken motioned to the table. Sitting down and giving their thanks they ate.

'Love is the feeling what comes from the heart and acceptance is a part of it.'

"So Daiken how's volleyball? And how's that guy Shirogane doing?" Fumiaki said trying to make up a conversation with the kids. Noticing that he has a tiny hint of red in his face he quickly gets up from his seat and starts to wash the dishes. "Volleyball's good. I sure am going to miss him...I mean it" Daiken said neverously and prayed that his uncle didn't him say that. He quickly wiped the plate, bowls and other utensils that he used and the ones that were in the small, cramped, gray sink. He dried his hands with a tissue. "Well I'm done. I have some stuff to prepare for tomorrow. See you in the morning. Good night." Daiken said in a hurry as he sprinted to his room before giving his family a quick bow.

'Acceptance...It's sometimes a big thing to people based on the kind. Uncle loves us but...'
