For the next five years of Cypher's life, he trains through his mother's teachings under the ideals of becoming greater than his father and to uproot him in the process. Cypher learned the basic concepts of mana orb creation and its different variants, which enhances the core concepts of the magic system. The passing years weren't spent neglecting his father, though. Cypher had learned that on top of the replica items sent with the notification of a child's birth, but something called birthing gifts as well. Birthing gifts are special items given as recognition to show the distant connection to their legion, The New Kings. Cypher's also learned about the name and age of Martyr's child through his mother, Cain Martyr, Cypher then made it his mission to find him and have him join his legion.
Cypher released an internal sigh as the first minute of the carriage ride to the academy was already marked with three massive annoyances. Cipher's carriage decided to enter held four women, three of which agreed that their code of life would state that your ability to annoy is what scales your relativity. Their conversations weren't kind, nor did they exclude Cypher; their discussions first were led by a mutual attraction towards Cypher through all three of them. Then as Cypher saw no need to reciprocate their emotions, they quickly turned on his mixed appearance and didn't attempt to spare his orange hair. Cypher again saw no need to return any of their insults and merely calmed his eyes, which seemed to quiet them down.
Though it didn't stop them from throwing their insults under their breath; the carriage ride would last half of the day and he couldn't deal with this much longer. So Cypher decided to spit the women simply by picking one of them to conversate with and ignore the other, one of the women had kept quiet during their insults and simply just laughed at their word but never joined them. this was the one he decided upon, "My names Cypher Gourd, what's your?" The female looked at him after realizing his words where aimed at her and she responded in kind, "Anna Ri." Just as he thought the others seemed more furious than before but still avoid making their words to vocal.
The carriage ride ends with the sound of distance murmur coming into focus, the door to the carriage is thrown open. The sight of a woman in her late thirties stares into the carriage; after a few moments, she walks away, telling everyone to get out. Cypher was the first to exist, being met with the sight of a large crowd split into men and women. Cypher walks towards to male group, not needing to decipher where he's supposed to go. Walking into the crowd, Cypher began looking around, deciding to talk to the person next to him. The man next to him stood about the same height as Cypher, the man's hair being solid black. Cypher directs his voice towards him, "Hey, my name Cypher Gourd."
The man turns around, showing Cypher his face, "Oh hey, my name is Cain Martyr. You said your last name was Gourd?" Cypher stood still but didn't hesitate in his response, "Yeah." At which point the two held conversation between each other and strangled their familial connections never came up. Eventually, attention is called towards a center stage where Cypher, guessed to be the leader or headmaster of the academy stood, before the speech began, Cypher asked Cain if he wished to be a part of his legion, of which Cain agrees.
The speech begins with a simple explanation of how the different years work with nothing of interest or note being explained. However, something that did catch Cypher attention was presenting the evaluation that was to take place two hours after midnight. The headmaster introduced himself as Circe, then quickly making his way to the stage, he tells everyone to enjoy themselves and find the dorm buildings themselves. Cypher and Cain both seemed amused by the headmaster's personality; Cypher looks over at Cain, who begins walking towards what seemed like the academy's main building. Cypher follows suit, thinking of the events to come.
During the transition to the main building, Cain managed to slip Cypher sight; though the thought did come to him, Cypher decided against searching for Cain, instead choosing to look for the dorms to find a bed to sleep off the aggravation that was still held within him. The largest building, the main one, was surrounded by two adjacent buildings labeled as dorms. Cypher walked within the dormouse, and looking around; he realized just how big this place was; a stagnant sigh was held by chains falling from the roof of the building marking the building he entered as the first through the three-year area. Cypher decided to get a general layout of the place, finding five floors with the lower ones with few exceptions claimed.
Cypher decided that if he had to stay on the upper floors, he might remain in the highest. Finding a dorm on the fifth floor proved easy, and picking out one of the six rooms to sleep in was just as taxing. As he had already planned, Cypher lays down on the bed, closing his eyes and waiting for sleep to take him. The hours would pass, with no dream having taken place. Cypher shifts within the fabric lining his body, sitting up and, with a quick option getting on his feet, stretching. As he makes his way down the stairs, the dorm's doors are still gaping open, showing the pale light of the moon.
Seeing this, Cypher decides to head towards the main building, hoping the evaluation didn't already take place. Looking up at the moon, it showed itself being about one or two hours before midnight. Seeing this, Cypher's nerves calmed down; pushing open the doors to the building, he was met with the sound of laughter and the general noise of constant conversation. Looking around, Cypher could make out the frame of Cain and began to make his way towards him. As he approaches him notices a crowd gathered around him, some seeming as if they were in anguish.
As Cain's view grew clear, he saw what seemed to be money placed on the table they were surrounded by and a lot of it at that. As Cypher got close to Cain, he saw the creation of five mana orbs in chaotic placements get destroyed by a set of orbs being placed directing with the previous set. At that point, the man standing in front of Cain screams and grabs his hair, cursing himself and Cain. Cain's face twisted into a crooked smile with his hand pulling at the stacks of golden coins towards the already large pill. At that point, Cain seems to notice Cypher and speaks out, "Oh, hey Cypher." After that quick action, he looks to return to that table, asking who wants to play next.
The people around the table seem to all look around, but three people do call out, exclaiming their willingness, in Cain's eyes, to lose their money. Cypher looks at another game that leads in Cain's Victory before finally asking what's going on; Cain explains that it's a game he made. A fair one, he stats, and one that can easily have a value placed on it. The explanation confirmed what Cypher thought, and seeing how the game interested him; he asked Cain if he could go next. At which point, Cain smiles at him and agrees.
