Elgard's voice quivered as he explained all that he knew to Licht, which was not much generally speaking. Licht frowned at the trembling man; he hadn't really expected much from him but that didn't make it any less disappointing when experiencing it in real-time.
"How disappointing," Licht said as he used his fingers to rub his forehead. 'Has anyone suspicious entered the radius yet?' Licht asked telepathically.
'Uhh...not yet. No sign of life.' Draywein replied lazily. He was draped over a branch in the forest half asleep. He felt at ease because Licht was more than 50 meters away. 'I swear, if you aren't doing your job properly, I'll make a meal out of you. You useless dragon.'
Draywein bolted straight up, 'Whaaat?~ I wouldn't dare slack off...' he trailed off. Licht is about to reply when he interrupted by Elgard.
"We had a deal remember? So now I'm forgiven?" Elgard replied as he sighed and smirked inwardly. 'At the end of the day, a kid is still a kid.'
"Well, I have no further use for you," Licht began which caused Elgard to smirk outwardly as he turned his face to the ground. "I might as well just end you right now."
Elgard's head whipped up, "-what?"
"What do you mean 'what'? Do you think that the minute amount of information you gave me, is enough to save your pathetic life?" Licht scoffed as he kicked the kneeling Elgard in the chest, breaking some ribs in the process.
Elgard fell to the floor, gurgling, as he choked on his own blood. "B-but...our deal. W-we h-had...a d-deal. You p-promised." He gurgled out desperately. Licht walked closer and crouched right in front of Elgard, "Do you remember who tried to kill my family? As for the deal, I said I 'might' consider, so don't go making promises for me." Licht jeered putting an emphasis on the word 'might'.
Elgard yelled through his blood, "W-we had....dea..." He repeats, put Licht paid that no mind. Licht had thoughts of his own, "I will kill you painlessly for one thing. So be grateful." He stated confidently, he found it weird that Ains would tell a guy like Elgard when he would come. 'He would obviously try to run a day...' Licht's train of thought trails off.
'Draywein!!! You good for nothing!!! Try and ask me for food, just you try!' Licht yelled at Draywein telepathically as he heard rapid thuds in the dark night. Licht takes a leap backward. And just enough for the blade to graze him.
Licht clicks his tongue as he watched his cut slowly close. He glances at the already broken window and spots a somewhat bulky figure, all clad in black. All that was visible was narrowed eyes which were zoned in on Licht.
"So, would you be Ains?" Licht asked as he began the system for the selection of a weapon. The weapon chosen was one Licht had always wanted to try in actual battle, a scythe. Licht twirled the weapon skillfully, and with one swipe decapitated Elgard.
Ains watched at the child, who was barely 4 feet, decapitate a grown man like it was nothing. He grasped his dual daggers tight and prepared himself for the unexpected. Still, it angered him to think that a child stole the kill he had been hoping for for months.
Licht, with his scythe, sliced through the walls, making a hole big enough for him to pass through. It was still small though. "I heard from someone that you were trying to kill me? May I ask why?"
Ains gritted his teeth, "I have nothing to say but I only do as the Master wills it." He replied reluctantly. Licht was now taking slow steps towards his opponent, and they were now less than two meters apart.
"And is your supposed Master Alastair Alderman?" Ains chokes on his breath as he hears Licht's words. There was hardly anyone who knew of Alastair, the fallen noble. Because of his horrible attitude, and distasteful habit of treating human life like candy, he was banished from the Alderman family. Though Ains followed Alastair faithfully because they both shared the same belief.
Humans were the scum of the earth.
They were both trying to fulfill their dreams, when humans.... well, the rest is history. The cliché 'humans betrayed me' story.
"Did your family actually even try to erase all traces of Alastair in relation to their family? I mean, it felt too easy." Earlier he had gone to his father's study, and in one of his files on the table had all the noble families close to the Hershold line. And amongst these files, each member of each family was listed. Alive or not, banished or not. With that, it was easy to figure it all out.
A noble family isn't stupid enough to target another noble. It would be taken as a declaration of war, soo.....
"Are you going to keep standing?" Licht called out as he used the metal grip to land a blow on Ains' abdomen, he didn't want to end the battle so fast. Ains was startled, but with Licht's warning, he had enough time to reinforce his body with magic.
Licht held his scythe proudly, with his blade to the ground. The blade made of gods-knows-what shone a metallic hue of blue. The handle lazily held by the ever-stoic Licht, "I hope this battle is worth it. Though I'm sure I'll win." His luck was maxed out after all.
Ains put his guard up and crouched, with his blades placed in a cross in front of him. One thought crossed his mind at that moment, 'This child is a threat.'
