Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Journey to Ronin Begins

Strange, after all this time to be dreaming about that. This wouldn't have happened if it weren't for the sudden reminder of who she really was in this place. "By the way what kind of dream was that? You looked really restless." Doctor An asks. "It's nothing, just a memory I wish I could forget." Kila answers as she sat by the front window gazing up at the sky. Doctor An watches her thoughtfully, it was perhaps another thing she didn't want to say, "you sure do have a lot of secrets for a little girl such as yourself." He says.

That much she could admit, if anyone in this world knew her true burdens it would cause chaos. Especially the one secret where in actual fact that she was just another soul living in the actual body. This was not her life at all but since she long accepted her death in her old world she gotten quite used to being Kilang Ba'er, the loser daughter of Jin Ba'er. "Aren't you gonna sleep?" Doctor An asks as he brings over a pillow they left out for the night, and handed it to her.

"Yeah, it is best that I sleep at a good time, thanks." she says. Doctor An blinks at her in shock, "what?" She asks. "No, it's just I didn't expect that." He mutters as his smiles. Kila frowns, did he think she was incapable of manners? Kila turns her gaze back to the window as Doctor An laid on the floor nearby. She stares at him, "what are you doing?" She wonders. "What does it look like? I'm going to bed." He answers crossing his arms as he lays and then closes his eyes.

"But there are rooms." She says with a frown. "...." There was no answer, did he perhaps fall asleep already? Seriously this guy, his actions are quite unique, was it because she's been secluded for so long that she was maybe the strange one here? Well she was thankful for his company that was for sure. As she thought this she could feel her eyelids growing heavy as she finally slips into a dreamless sleep.

The Next Morning...

Doctor An and Kila were already in the carriage heading towards Ronin, "so we would want to cut through Swampy Forest to get to Cove Valley, across Firey Desert somehow through Monster Keep, and then to Ronin." Kila holds the map in her hands and lowers it to glance at Doctor An. His face was as white as a ghost, "this is truely a bad idea. Every part of me is screaming that this is nuts." He says. "I mean don't all those names scare you even a little?" he asks.

Names on a map didn't scare her, after all they were just names, "I fear death that come expectantly more." She says. Doctor An groans, "I feel as though you have an interesting back story to the things that you say." He says as he grabs the map from her hands to look at it. He taps the paper, "this route makes more since, it's less hassle." He says. She peers at the map and shakes her head, "not a chance, if we take your path it will be two more days added." She says. He shrugs, "even so it's less dangerous." He says.

Kila grabs the map rolls it up and stuffs it in a bag on the carriage, "we're taking the original path wether you like to or not. Taking this path will only take us five days. While your path will take us seven. The extra two days added could cause us to miss a person who has information." Kila says. Doctor An rubs his temple, "or it could lead us to information." he adds. "all the better to get there two days ahead then." She says.

It seems he wasn't going to win this debate so he sighs and gives up, she was one stubborn girl. Not only that he couldn't help but realize that she was right. It was irritating but he couldn't argue anymore, no matter how much he will not like this dangerous journey he couldn't refute. Damn. It looks like he will be risking his life even more now, but it's what he gets for following after a person just because he thinks they're interesting.

Kila realizes that he finally accepted fate, which made it easier on her. No matter what this was the better route, "if you're scared you don't need to leave the carriage at any time during our journey." She points out in hopes it will make him feel better. Doctor An glares at her, "what kind of man do you think I am? I'm not so useless to let a woman do all the dirty work." He says. Kila stares at him in surprise at his determined face and then chuckles. "I see, the brave Doctor An. I'm glad to hear it." She says.

"It's the first time I heard you laugh." He tells her. He wonder what she looked like with a smile on her face. Even with the burns he could tell she had really pretty features. It was too bad she wouldn't remove that viel again, he doubt he'd get another chance to see it, the first two times were purely out of luck. "So the first place we will be entering is Swampy Forest, that's another day so luckily there's a village nearby." He says as she once again pulled the map out.

"Do you know anything about the village and forest?" She asks. He places his finger on his chin as if to think, "well if I remember a bit. there's a legend that the villagers feared the forest but cannot leave. Not sure what that's all about or why they were so scared, maybe there's some kind of beast there or perhaps there's some kind of dark magic going on." He says. Right, this was a world filled with magic of all kinds, when she first entered this place she never would have known what mana was if it weren't for her memories of the body she entered.

"I see, that's it huh? Well guess we'll find out once we enter the village." She says. The carriage is now seen riding a pathy road that leads to Lumi Village the same one on their map. Even the sun was just now rising, what will our characters face when entering this village, and what was the mystery of the so called legends?
