Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Swampy Forest: Part lll

"What the hell are we going to do? Those birds are all over the forest now." Doctor An says. The two of them had managed to hide in some bushes nearby but now they were surrounded by murderous meat eating birds. Kila glances about, fighting these birds were not a good idea, especially since there was so many. It seems that this time they were stuck, and there was nothing she could do about it. Hours go by and neither of them knew the time of day anymore. "The birds haven't moved an inch, damn I really have to wizz." Doctor An complains. "

The two of them began to feel sleepy as the hours flew by, as soon as Kila finally nods out some kind of melody swept through the air. She blinks, at flirst thinking that she was hearing things. But the melody was as clear as day, Kila peeks out the bush and noticed that the soft tune was putting the Tebirds to sleep. She turns and shakes Doctor An awake, he groans and wakes, "what is it?" He ask. "Listen." She says. He stares at her, "I don't hear anything." He says. The melody had long stopped but that was not what Kila was pointing out, "wait, I don't hear anything." He says again this time peeking out of the bush to survey the area.

"What's going on, they're asleep." He says with a confused look on his face. "Not sure, all I can tell you is that there was some kind of music playing and then they were asleep." She answers with a shrug. Doctor An frowns, "music? How strange, do you think it's the child saving us?" He asks. That was a good question, this would be proof that the child still lives. And to be able to sound out such a beautiful melody, this child was a genius. "We should get going before they wake up." She says as they made their ways past the sleeping birds as quietly as possible. Whoever it was that played such beatiful music didn't show their face, it was as if it never happened.

After a few more hours of trekking throught the dark swamp, they still had no clue what they were looking for, nothing since the Tebirds popped out and there was no signs of the person who played that melody. "Perhaps you dreamed it, and those birds went to sleep on their own?" Doctor An points out. Kila shakes her head, "no, there was definitely music coming from this direction." She says as they sat to take a break. If it had beed the child, they would have been scared to be wandering the forest by themselves and would have revealed themselves by now. "Man I'm dying here. No water or anything to eat, we don't even know if this is our first or second day" Doctor An complains.

"Alright, I'll go search for a water resource." Kila says turning in to head deeper into the forest, "..." She pauses and turns back to look at him, "don't wander off." She says. Doctor An frowns, "do I look that curious to you? No worries there, see if I'll be leaving this spot. Unlike you." He says sitting on a nearby rock. Kila rolls her eyes, "do you want to keep complaining about starving or dying of thirst?" She asks pointedly. He pouts, "I get it, jeesh." He says not saying another word. "I'll be taking the map we drew, remember don't move." She says leaving him.

Kila had already reached a few kilometers from where they were camping and still haven't laid eyes on water or any animals to be their next meal. Even the fog was growing thicker, she slows to a stop, the thicker the fog, the more dangerous. Kila sqauts to get a closer look at the ground, not a single print. She glances about, not even a landmark in sight. everything was covered in the fog's thickness. She was going to have to risk staying where she was, it was always best no to stray far from a path that one's walked already. Especially if one couldn't see. For all she knew, she's been walking a circle this whole time.

This was probably the best time to use a bit of her mana she possessed, a little light won't really help her situation but it could light her area a bit. Kila draws a circle around herself, makes a symbol using her hands and closes her eyes, then blows the tip of her finger tips to ignite a flame above them. Tracing the circle she creates a flame that couldn't hurt her if she wanted to step out of it, but if an enemy entered they'd go through a stabbing and burning pain. As if caught on fire, it wasn't a spell that could kill, but if she's lucky, there wasn't a creature out there that this small spell couldn't work on.

Meanwhile : Doctor An

What's taking her so long? it's already been a long time since she left, and his stomach was already making so much noise it was even riling up nearby beasts probably. He probably should have demanded to go with her, and if he moved from this spot; he's likely to get lost, chewed up by a monster or even worse. What if that's what happened? But wait, he's seen Kila in action before, but that doesn't mean she could beat every creature out there. As he paces the ground, his worry increases.
