Vacation was over and it was time to attend the academy. I was extremely excited as it was another step towards my dream coming true. I met up with Emily and we walked together to New Horizons Academy. It was the top academy out of the five hero training academies. I was so elated to hear that I was going to be a student there when I heard the news. Each academy allows twenty students to join to be heroes in training. With my scores, I was in the top ten with the highest average score so I am going to be in the Alpha class. Unfortunately, Blake would be in the same class as me. At least Emily will be there with me.
We arrived in the hall where orientation would be occurring. It looks like we were the last to arrive until Blake stormed in and brushed me while doing so. The orientation would soon start. "Ahem, testing one, testing one-two. Okay, it's working." Soon all of our attention was given to the man on stage testing his mic. "Good morning students. Welcome to New Horizons Academy. Our motto here is to surpass our limits and rise soar into new horizons. While you will be attending this academy you will be tested so you can grow physically and mentally. You shall improve your powers here and learn how to make them hero worthy.
Now let's introduce this year's New Horizon's trinity. The top three students in the sixth year. First, we'll have Shu Notari the leader of the trinity with his superhuman powers. Next is Lila Jackson with her wind-based powers. Last but definitely not least will be Jim Kokuwi with his beastly powers. These three students are the elite of this academy and are respected but nearly all of the students who attend this facility. "Woah, I can tell they're strong just by looking at them. I'll do my best to become a trinity member once I become a sixth-year student.
"Excuse me!" A familiar voice from the crowd grasped everyone's attention. "You say they are the best this academy has to offer but how would I know that for myself. I challenge the leader of the trinity and if I win I demand I become an official member of the trinity." The man on stage and the entirety of the trinity laughed. "You, a first-year would like to challenge the leader of the trinity. No first-year has ever had the guts to do so in all my years being a teacher here but if you are sure you'd like to do so then fine once Shu is ok with it." "I don't mind putting a mouthy first year in his place. Plus, I haven't had my morning exercise yet anyways."
The match became official. Everyone crowded the area where the match would take place, which was the courtyard. Students were excited to witness a first year with so much arrogance get beaten by one of the best this year had to offer. The match started and what happened I could barely believe. Shu dashed towards him almost instantly using his power and tried to punch the first year. For some reason, the punch didn't connect and the first year slammed Shu into the floor and put him into a headlock. The first year rendered Shu motionless and soon everyone became silent. The first year actually won and it was definitely not a fluke.
"My name is Oda Nakiri and I am the student with this year's highest average. I've come up from ruthless training and was excited to attend this school until now. I thought this school produce warriors of pride but after challenging the best this school had to offer, I'm very disappointed. This school is just a necessary thing for me to do to get my hero license. I will be the strongest hero and if anyone wants to challenge me go ahead but I'll make sure I'll humiliate you just like Trinity's leader here. That's all I have to say. Oh and about being the leader of Trinity, I don't even want to be a part of such a weak group." "They're five years apart and he still won." "I wonder what his power is." "I don't wanna fight him at all if that's what he did to Trinity's leader."
Everyone was shocked but Blake. "I'm so glad you're here Oda. You see I thought the entire first-years was beneath me since I came number two in the average score but I guess you're my match. I'm not stupid to fight you after what you did to Trinity's leader but just know this. I will surpass you eventually and then I'll put an end to your very high ego. I refuse to lose to anyone but you while I'm here." "You sure do talk the talk but let's see if you can walk the walk pal." "I'm sure I can Oda. Anyways is this orientation finished?"
"There was supposed to be a speech from the leader of Trinity but unfortunately that won't be happening anymore. Well, then when you hear your name come to the stage and your assigned teacher will guide you to your classrooms." Blake, Oda, Emily, and I grouped up with a shady-looking teacher in a classroom named 1-A. We picked out our desks and then soon left the room the obtain our uniforms. It was a white dress shirt with a red tie and placket pants. The teacher then told us that seniors wore black ties to distinguish the age gap. The whole time I glanced over at Oda as he would be my target as he is clearly the strongest of us rookies.
The entire time he had headphones in his ears and stared into the sky. He ignored everyone and played on his phone during the tour around the campus. After a while, the tour ended and I knew how I would spend my day. I planned to use the gym and run around the field at lunch and then take a shower in the bathroom before lunch ends. I already enjoyed being in the academy and it wasn't my official first day yet. Blake followed Oda around. It was strange to see Blake respecting someone so quickly. I thought he would have fought Oda for number one almost instantly but he handled being number two quite well, at least better than I thought.
