The next day I was training alone. I felt as if someone was watching me so I carried on with my training carefully. Then I felt a touch on my shoulders so I pushed off the person and went into my fighting stance. "That's interesting. Nobody catches on to me skulking unless I want them to." I was stunned by who was in front of me. "It was Akira Motonami, hero name is Zekken, the number one hero." I started shaking in my shoes. "For some reason, you look familiar," He had begun contemplating to himself. "Oh, you look like Kentaro." I had slightly overcome my shivering so I said, "I'm his son, sir."
There was a brief moment of silence. "Do you mind sparring with me?" he asked. "Sure," I responded. I used my power to levitate him in the sky and then drop him. I thought that would do it but before I knew it he was behind me and karate-chopped my neck rendering me unconscious. I had a dream where I thought of how he got behind me then I remembered his power. He had the ability to cancel the usage of powers in a certain vicinity at will and increase his attributes. He must have canceled my powers at the last minute then increase his speed then knocked me out.
"Wakey wakey, eggs and bakey." He ran cold water over my face forcing me to rouse from my sleep. "You were talking in your sleep so I can say you figured out how I beat you." He stared at me with an interesting look on his face. "You definitely are like your mother." "What do you mean?" I wondered. "Your mother had immense skills as a rookie. Despite she was still considered a rookie she made it to the top fifteen and you possess her prowess. You're going to be a great hero. I'm sure of it." His word brought a tear to my eye as I thanked him.
"Well, I have to continue my patrol around this vicinity. It was a fun time," he stopped himself as he remembered something, "I forgot I didn't get your name." "Kankuro Kamagichi, sir. Before you go can I have an autograph on my workout schedule book?" "Sure." He wrote to a promising upcoming hero in training, Kankuro Kamagichi from the number one hero, Akira Motonami. He left my view instantaneously and I could sense he was gone. The bliss moment would soon come to an end as the realization kicked in.
I had now seen the gap between us and it was immense. I didn't even know that someone could be so powerful. It got me thinking about how much my dad was holding back while we trained together. I punched the floor in pure frustration. "I promise to never give up until I can land a blow on him when he doesn't hold back. I will become the greatest hero!" From afar he was still watching me but careful to not make it obvious. "Kana, he's got your spirit and I'll make sure that he surpasses me. For because of my mistake, you lost your life."
Some time passed and I got over my mood. I took a look at the autograph once more then closed my eyes. I then was able to see the autograph and what it said with my eyes closed. I thought I was hallucinating but another branch of my power was awoken. I called it high-depth censors. It was weird at first but when I got the hang of it, I was able to turn it on and off at will. With this new ability, I found myself one step closer to my dream and goals. I rushed to Emily's house to show her the autograph at top speed. By the time I got there, my lungs were heating me.
It took a while to catch my breath as I ran three whole miles consistently. By the time I caught my breath, she was in the doorway looking at me with a look of concern on her face. "Are you ok?" "Water!" She went inside and got me a cup of water that saved my life. That's an exaggeration but it sure felt like it did. "I thought that u wanted to train alone today." she stated. "I was training alone but something amazing happened." "Did u unlock another branch to your power?" "I did, but that's not the point." I searched through my bag and showed her the autograph.
She was shocked. Never in a million years did she think I'd meet Akira so soon. Especially, since he was on patrol. "This is so cool. How did you get it?" "I was training then I sensed him, probably because of my new ability, and we fought. Well, I wouldn't call it a fight since he knocked me out in one blow." She looked sorry for me because of the look I had on my face. "That shows how much more I gotta train. Or else I won't be able to achieve my dream. From tomorrow I'll train till my body breaks. I'll get rid of the weakness I have so I can become who I want to be."
Her look of concern shifted to a look of pride as she was glad that I didn't take this loss as a sign that he couldn't be someone great. She agreed to train harder and she volunteered to help me train before the academy started. She even escorted me to the training area and trained till nightfall. We parted ways then I saw Blake walking past me. He stopped and gained my attention. "I hope you aren't making my sister weaker because weakness is contagious." "She's helping me get stronger so I can beat you. Also, she told me that after you beat me you declared me you're rival. So I have one question why make someone who is weak like me your rival."
"So I can make you my punching bag. Anyways smell ya later loser." He walked away and slammed the door. "He had to have recognized something about me when we battled or else he would have ignored me like the others. Either if what he said is true or not I know I refuse to lose to him again." I walked home without looking back. Meanwhile, Blake was contemplating in his room. "He barely had his power and still put up a better fight than the others. If he had more time with his power he would have definitely beaten me."
