Chapter 6 - Duels part 2

Suddenly more electricity had manifested outside his body. He dashed around the field at higher speeds than I've ever seen. He was on par with Emily when it came to speed. "So, he isn't all talk after all," he said while returning to a battle stance. "So, this is his true power. I knew he was interesting. Maybe he can be useful in the future." Oda thought. "So, he can increase his just like you Emily." "Yeah. This is the result of our training." "I see." Blake landed his first successful hit in a while and soon hope was restored as the one-sided match turned into a fight of equals.

"You think you're the only one with tricks up their sleeve. Dimensional scan!" Soon a purple circle with a radius of a kilometer spawned around Todd. "You might be faster but you'll have to enter this domain to attack me," he stated. Blake went in for another blow this time to the face but Todd caught Blake's fist and countered with a punch of his own. "I was moving so fast but yet he countered me effortlessly. It must have to do with that purple ring around him. I'll just have to move even faster." He used his speed to execute a series of punches and kicks but each was blocked.

"Okay, I'll admit it. Fighting you is fun." "Your character isn't the best but I have to say you had me up backed into a corner. All I could do earlier is block. Guess I'll turn this fight up a notch." Blake rushed in to land a critical blow but before he could raise his hands to strike Todd used a pocket dimension to warp his punch Blake straight in his face. From there Blake couldn't get close to Todd. Each time he tried Todd would warp his limbs to connect blows from a distance. "What do I do now? I was at top speed but couldn't get close. Somehow, I have to get closer to him."

Then an idea came to mind. He spread his lightning and electricity across the field. "Thanks for giving me an idea Todd. Without battling you I wouldn't have come up with this ability." He advanced once more and blocked all of Todd's attacks but when he attacked his attack went straight through him. "What the hell!" "You made me use my trump card. I call it warped mass." I instantly understood what he did. He basically transported his physical body to another dimension without transporting his appearance, creating a hollow state making him permeable.

Relentlessly he attacked but each passed through making Blake vulnerable to counters and trust me Todd didn't waste those openings. "Damn it! I can't keep getting attacked or I'll pass out from the pain. There has to be a limit to that permeability. I've got an idea. He rushed but this time his leg work allowed him to maneuver without creating an opening and relentlessly attacking until Todd was forced to block. "I see so that's how it is." He did it once more this time he ended up connecting a blow. "Your permeability has a limit. Its cooldown is the duration of how much you used it so you used it right before I attacked so little cooldown time." Todd applauded him for figuring it out.

Both of them were breathing heavily and it came down to the next blow. Todd warped punched relentlessly but using the electric field to detect his movements Blake dodged each and went on the attack. He timed each attack to counter the permeability and soon the decisive blow was dealt. Blake landed a devastating kick on Todd but Todd countered with a crucial blow to Blake's stomach. They both fell to the ground and eventually both advanced each other. They both struggled to move and when they were right in front of each other they both punched each other and Todd was rendered unconscious while Blake was on his knees.

The spectacular match had come to an end. Everyone applauded while Oda entered the battlefield. "Kudos for winning. You're officially my right-hand man now. "He carried Blake to the infirmary. I came to Todd's aide and put him on my back and headed to the school's nurse. I sat with them for a while to make sure they were ok. "Hi Kankuro, shouldn't you be in class?" "I stuck by to make sure you recovered well. Plus, everyone is just on their phones since Mister Shinzo isn't teaching us today." "I'm sorry Kankuro," he began breaking down into tears, "I couldn't beat Blake so I doubt I can knock some respect into Oda. I failed I'm sorry."

"Sorry for what?" Oda said walking into the room. "You think just because you lost that gives you the right to cry. In this world, failure teaches us more than success. Also, how do you expect to knock some sense into me if you're acting this way? It's pathetic to see you crying especially when I was planning to say I respect you." He put back on his headphones and then left the room. "He's right. I should be working my ass off so next time I fight Blake I'll win." "That's the spirit. I'll be sure to work harder as well." I left the room and awaiting me was Emily.

"Kankuro, you've gotten stronger but you still lost." "Yeah, these students are on a different level than me. So, I'm going to train harder than ever before." "I'll be doing the same. I can't let my brother outshine me. After his big match with Todd, everyone is saying he has the potential to beat Oda. "If anyone could, it would definitely be him." "Well, it's soon time to leave school so let's get our stuff and head home." "What about your brother?" "He'll come home after he's fully better." "Okay then. Let's go!"

As soon as I got home, I trained with my dad. I had a rough start after losing to Yumeko. I even meditated and unlocked a new power. It allowed me to sense everything around me just like Blake and Todd. I practiced maintaining it while asleep and by morning I got used to it. I was another step closer to becoming the number one hero and I was elated. The next day I spent my free time in the gym and on the field working out to build stamina and improve my physique. Blake and Todd found respect for each other and stayed out of their way as much as possible.
