Chapter 9 - Great man

How could she expect a sick man to fight for someone else by placing himself in danger? She really felt horrible at the thought that she shouted at him as 'good for nothing' in front of everyone.

Being 'sick' is not his fault anyway.

As she is busy being guilty, Horace did not notice anything as he just came out of a shock himself. He simply shook his head and said, "I am fine. Do you want any other book?"

He was worried that the scene he just witnessed may happen even if he tried to change her fate once she tried to take another book from this shelf. It is better for him to help her than leaving her alone and giving a chance to hurt herself.

The woman felt more terrible that the man whom she called a good for nothing is trying to help her more in spite of being so sick.

She immediately shook her head as she said frantically, "No no. I think you should sit down and rest for a while. I will take care of the books here. I can take a book by myself. I don't need your help. I don't need your help."

Being frantic she did not realize that she was repeating her words while shaking her hands profusely.

Horace looked at her strangely and felt more scared than before. 'Did this woman go crazy even though her head is not hurt? Is this power of mine really this useless?'

He had his own strange ideas while the woman had her own strange ones. Both of them could not read the thoughts of the other.

Horace simply said, "I think I should give you the book first. Once I give the book you need I will take a rest myself."

He thought that since she wouldn't listen to him, he would bait her by giving what she wanted first. If he says that he would leave after he takes the book, she would definitely allow him to do so as she wants him to leave, right?

Though he thought that his actions were logical, he was still scared that this crazy woman may come up with any new ideas instead of going along with the flow of a normal human being.

Luckily for him, the woman agreed this time easily, "Okay, then please take this book out and then immediately go to rest."

She pointed at the book for which she actually came here. That is the book that Horace pointed her to go in this direction to get it.

Since he wouldn't leave if she did not leave first, she thought of taking that book and taking him away faster so he could have his 'rest'.

Horace looked at the book and sighed in relief. If she really took the book that she wanted, then she would surely leave after taking it, right? That is the only thought that he had at this moment.

He immediately bent over to take the book as softly as he could because he is still scared that the shelf may fall even if it is not the woman who is taking the book out.

He already once tried to save her. If he makes any mistake, he has to save both her and himself too.

But he is scared that if his fingers are locked too then how could he snap them. It would bring a great disaster to himself. He would place himself in danger for this woman? Tch.

Horace suddenly felt that he is really a great man for trying to save an unknown woman and placing himself in such a grave danger.

He tried to slow down his movements more than before after being scared. But these actions were not missed from the eyes of the woman.

She had 'understood' his actions very 'well'.

'He is so sick that he can't even take a book out but he is still helping me take it out? How great this man is?' She admired him more and more while also pitied him more and more.

Thus she also felt more guilty towards him when she reminded herself of her rude actions towards him.

Once Horace took the book out, she immediately grabbed the book as fast as she could and held both the books in her left hand. She then proceeded to use her right hand to grab his arm and pulled him away from the book shelf.

Horace was surprised by her sudden and bold action. 'Shouldn't a woman be more conservative than this?' Being lonely for so long, he thought that her actions were really bold as soon as she touched him.
