Chapter 15 - Special Baby

Looking at her enthusiastic and admiring face, Horace smiled a little and made a shushing gesture. Arnia instantly took back her hands and she mimicked his actions of shushing.

Horace softly muttered to Arnia, "Check if there is any milk bottle in the stroller."

Arnia nodded her head and once again knelt down to check everything in the stroller and found a small bottle which had some milk in it. She breathed and stood up and shook the bottle in front of his face to show her 'achievement' of finding a bottle.

Horace did not understand if the baby in his hands was younger or the woman in front of him was. Receiving such a look, Arnia scratched the back of her head in embarrassment as she smiled sheepishly.

What could she do? She was just happy that she found a milk bottle. If they did not find any, what would they do with the baby?

Even if they don't know how to handle a baby, they still know that feeding some milk is enough for the hungry baby and if there is no food, the baby would not stop crying no matter how much anyone played with it.

She thus really felt like an achievement to find that bottle and was really excited to show it off in front of him. Horace shook his head and took the bottle from her hands and slowly placed the tip in the baby's little mouth.

The baby clearly was very hungry as he eagerly took in the bottle with his little hands and slurped down the milk at a very fast speed which shocked both Horace and Arnia.

They suddenly felt pity looking at the baby being so hungry. How could any adults leave such a small baby like this alone in a street? If they did not find the baby now, he would be hungry for who knows how long.

This baby doesn't even know to search for his own food or to feed himself. All he knows is to just cry if he is hungry.

In such an abandoned street, if no one comes here, who would attend to him, even if he cries for a few more hours?

Arnia softly placed her hand on his small head and patted without much pressure so that she would not disturb him drinking his milk. Horace too felt the same emotions as her and gently patted the baby's back.

Once the baby finished the bottle, he slowly drifted off into his dreamland and Horace took the bottle out of his mouth and gave it to Arnia.

Arnia took the bottle and screwed its cap and placed it back into the stroller. Subconsciously, both of them did not want to place the baby back into the stroller and started walking as Horace held the baby in his arms and Arnia pushed the stroller.

They don't know for how long the baby was in the stroller. Hence they don't want the baby to go back into the stroller yet. Looking at the peaceful face of the sleeping baby, Horace and Arnia smiled and felt happy for unknown reasons.

They were always scared of kids because Arnia couldn't help but scare them unknowingly while Horace doesn't know how to play with them as he was very silent who knew nothing about holding a conversation.

Hence, in both their lives, this baby holds a special place as he was the first one who was not scared by Arnia or by listening to the silent words of Horace.

They thus formed a special affinity with this kid in their hearts without knowing anything as they felt that subconsciously.

They also slowed down their pace and walked slowly. On one hand they doesn't want to disturb the baby's sleep by walking faster while on the other hand, they also doesn't want to part ways with the baby too soon.

Even after so many such simple tricks, they had finally reached the police station where they entered and told the police officers about the baby and the location they found him.

The police asked a few more details and they answered all the questions truthfully and waited for sometime while holding the baby.

Apparently the parents of the baby had already come to the police station to complain about the baby being missing. Hence now that the baby was found, they called the parents and they too came without much delay as they were waiting for the news while searching on all the streets for the baby by themselves.
