Chapter 17 - Bye bye Baby 2

Once he stopped, he bent his torso and placed his hands on his knees to catch some breath.

Before he could take a full puff of air into his lungs, he was punched on his shoulders ruthlessly by the woman whom he just dragged away.

Once she remembered that the person whom she just punched was a 'patient', she immediately felt guilt and patted his back as if she was soothing the place she just punched which can make the pain fly away.

"Sorry, sorry. My hand just slipped. Ha ha it just slipped," She cheekily 'explained' the reason behind her actions which made Horace give her a look.

Who would even believe her ridiculous reason?

It doesn't matter if she punched too but shouldn't she know how much strength she has in her punch? "Can't you handle your strength when punching someone?" He asked her.

He was not a strong man to begin with. On the contrary, she was a woman who grew up training her body every single day from the time of her birth. How can it not hurt?

He was even scared if any of his bones were broken.

Arnia gave him an apologetic look and Horace shook his head and tried his best to stand straight while taking another whiff of air inside.

He rotated his hand in all directions to check if it was working fine or anything was broken. Arnia was speechless by his actions, "Is it that exaggerated?" Her mouth was wide open as she was dumbfounded by his actions.

"Just how weak are you? Why don't you come to my place and train everyday? It would be good for your body if you train it everyday." she suggested him out of goodwill.

She also wanted to say that he can train according to whatever disease he had but since he doesn't want to open up about his disease to anyone, she bit her lips and stopped herself from speaking further.

Horace stopped moving his hands further and shook his head at her question. He never was interested in training his body or growing stronger. What use would that even be?

If his strength grows, his power would increase a little. What would he do with his powers? Whatever he does, in the end he could feel nothing but regretful about not being able to do something more than what he had already done.

Those feelings that he had accumulated over the years are already enough for him. He was not interested in increasing such painful feelings anymore.

Only the person with power would know the burden of having power.

Arnia did not speak anything more when she saw the sadness in his eyes. Maybe his disease is so severe that he is not suitable to train his body at all?

She wanted to punch her own face when she thought that her words made him remember the pain of having a serious illness that he was trying to forget.

She thus decided to distract him from his disease and spoke hesitatingly, "Um, the kid should be leaving now, right?"

With her words, both of them turned around to look at the entrance of the police station. Though they could not see everything clearly, they are not far enough to not see anything either.

They could still see the kid sleeping in the stroller which was placed beside the car while the parents turned around to thank the police officers to bow towards them to thank one last time before leaving.

Horace and Arnia sighed and turned around to look at each other with their sad faces. They couldn't bear to bid their farewell to the kid whom they met a few minutes earlier.

"I miss him already," they both spoke in unison. When they found that the other person too spoke the same words and shared the same sentiment as themselves, they chuckled at each other.

They once again reluctantly turned towards the police station to take one last glance at the baby.

This was the first baby that got close to them in both their lives after all. They also know that once they parted ways now, they may never look at the baby later. In such a large world, how great chances would be to meet the baby again?
