Chapter 8 - Fall

As Horace left, the woman kept on looking at his back. She was also equally puzzled by his words as much as he was.

She did not expect him to give her any explanation. In fact even if he gave her an explanation, shouldn't the explanation be something like, 'I wanted to help but you came before me' or 'I was too shocked by the scene that I took some time to react. Before I reacted you already entered'.

The woman really expected such lame excuses. She had seen many cowards who were scared to fight when they saw any such injustice but once the problem was solved they would give lame excuses or pretend to be haughty.

But this is the first time she had seen a man to directly accept that he did not help because he is really weak.

This truth would not give him any extra points from her though. For her, a man who did not even try to help someone when he saw someone bully them in front of his eyes is more weak than a coward.

Her lips just twitched as she turned away from him and placed her hand on a book at random to grab it and pull it outside. There are so many books in the rack and the book was locked in between the other books making it unable to easily slide outside.

When the book still did not budge, the woman took a serious look at it and pulled it using a little more strength than before.

Horace heard a little commotion from the place where he just left and around to take another glance at the woman. He found her exerting more pressure to pull a book which is stuck in between 2 bigger books.

Before he could say anything, She used so much energy that the entire rack was shaken up and all the books along with the rack fell on her.

By the time Horace reacted, the woman got an injury on her head which was bleeding profusely as she was stuck below a huge shelf filled with books.

Horace immediately closed his eyes and snapped his fingers. By the time he opened his eyes, he is back to the peaceful time when he is walking away from the woman.

He immediately turned over to find that the woman placed a hand on a book randomly. He instantly ran towards her while saying in a hurry, "Stop. Don't pull the book that is between the two fat books."

The woman froze in her spot and looked at the book on which she placed a hand on. The book is really in between two fat books as he said.

'How did he know that she would place her hand on this book when she herself didn't know about that?' she wondered to herself.

Under her puzzled eyes, Horace came to her and slowly turned the books around to give a little space in the middle so the book that was stuck earlier could be taken out easily.

He then easily pulled the book outside and safely put it in her hands. She grabbed the book while standing there in a daze.

Horace sighed in relief that a huge disaster could be prevented by this power of his.

Though he did not feel that this power is much useful to him, it is not a total waste either. It can be used in such situations where he could make decisions faster while having the ability to change the incident within those ten seconds too.

He was really scared earlier when he saw the blood that was oozing out of her forehead. Though he did not react for a second, luckily he still got time to change everything back. If the incident happened for more than ten seconds, then no matter what he did, this puny power of his would not have helped this woman in the least.

When he froze in his place earlier, his back was drenched with cold sweat in an instant. Now, even his forehead is covered with a thin layer of sweat, which made his pale skin shine under the lights in the library.

The woman was shocked looking at his sweat. He was clearly fine a few seconds back. He did nothing strenuous during these few seconds except taking a book outside. Why would this man sweat so much when he did absolutely nothing?

"Are you alright? Why are you sweating so much? Are you sick somewhere?" As she asked, she had thought of many possibilities.

Yes, he may be sick which would be the reason for his weak stature. If he is really sick, then him not coming forward to fight earlier would be absolutely justifiable.

The woman suddenly felt a little guilty for throwing disgusting looks at him for not coming to the rescue of the girl earlier without knowing his entire condition.
