Chapter 8 - The House

Cerene and Sharrie woke up, did their montage and went to go snooping once again. Their parents played their parts and acted as if each time that they ran into them, it was a different time. Almost as if it was the 'first time'. What really got the girls, was the weird and magical places that they would visit. Everytime they seperated, if was as if they were 'sent to another world'. After a constant repeat of the first day it happened they decided to discuss what was happening.

"Are you flipping kidding me?"

"Rene, I know you're upset, but calm down."

"I'm calm! I just... can't put my finger on what keeps happening." Cerene said pacing back and forth in her room. They are hiding something and I want to know what it is. We need to figure out what to do. What are we doing wrong?" Cerene said as she flopped down in the chair.

"I dunno. What happens to you when after we seperate?" Sharrie asked laying her head on Cerene's lap.

"Okay, so I get up, we get into disguise, and then we leave out of our room. Blah blah blah, we seperate. As I'm walking everything around me starts turning into a bunch of grass, trees and ponds. So, they're pretty, but a different kind of pretty. It's almost like I'm in a magical world where everything is brighter and looks unreal. At first, I didnt keep going, I turned back around because that just seemed weird and impoosible. But even though I was going in the direction that I came in, everything started to look like what was behind me. I even doubled back to make sure, but it was the exact same thing. So, I just kept walking and eventually I ended up coming to a pond. The water was soooo clear with like a tiny bit of blue. You could see straight to the bottom! There were these weird fish inside too. I got distracted by how pretty everything was and i ended up staying there for bit. I got back on track though. Then there was this-"

"Door" They said in unison.

"Same here. What color was yours?" Sharrie asked

"Blue with clouds." Cerene responded.

"Ohhhh mine was green." Said Sharrie.

"Ooooo nice! So, I went towards the door and knocked. Just in case it was a bathroom or something like that. I didn't get an answer, so I went in and found these huge steps. At first, I was thinking, why the heck would I go up a random pair of steps leading to who knows where. So I turned around and went to go back through the door but it was locked. So I started heading up the steps and I hear this loud boom sound. I look back and the steps are falling. I swear it was like something from one of my dreams. I started running up the stairs and this statue appears behind me and it's face contorts. It's eyes started bleeding and it's mouth opened all of the way. It's eyes rolled into the back of it's head and get this... it's floating."

"Noooo." Sharrie gasps.

"Yes! I was so terrified! I screamed and ran. That was honestly all that I could do. I stumbled a few times, but I made it out."

"Out? What do you mean?" Sharrie asked.

"Yeah. So, I got out. There was this weird hole at the top of the steps. When I jumped through, it closed behind me. I landed on a platform and it started to tilt forward. I slid down a little and jumped off. Landed on another platform and kept doing that until I got across the room. Got to the door, and I slipped. I fell down into like this weird slide and it took me to a large body of water. I swam for what seemed like days... And then, I just ended up in bed."

"Oh my gosh. I'm glad you're okay! Do you think it was real?!" Sharrie asked with concern in her voice.

"I don't know. I've been trying to figure that out since it happened. Maybe it was just a dream. It had to be a dream right? It just... felt so real." Cerene explained. Confusion clear in her voice.

"Yeah, it doesn't really make sense. Seems like we both wanted to know the secrets so badly that we keep dreaming about it." Sharrie and Cerene share a light giggle.

"What about you Sharr? What happened in your dream."

"Mine? Well, it started off the same as yours. I'm walking and then everything around me starts to change. The entire room turns into like some weird desert. I came to a green door and I opened it and went inside. The room was filled with sand. Sand hills and everything. I started walking for awhile and eventually I saw a weird desert oasis in the distance. I walked over to it and just before I got to it, I felt something underneath my feet rumble. I look down and I saw the sand moving. I didn't think much of it until the sand started slowing swirling. I started running but no matter where I ran, the sand got faster. I ran as fast as I could but I couldn't keep up! I started slipping in and everything turned into quicksand. I fell in and thought I was going to suffocate. I slipped through and fell out the other end. I was taken to an all black room. There was a white staircase but I couldn't see anything else aroud it. I walked towards it, then up it. After a little while I came to a giant court like setting where there were all of these statues that looked like a goats head with a person's body. All of there eyes were bleeding. They turned towards me and all of the statues starting chasing after me. I started backing up and fell down the steps."

"What?!?! Dear goodness Sharr! How the heck did you manage that?" Cerene busted out laughing

"I dunno" Sharrie starts laughing. "I just fell. So, I'm sitting there bouncing down the steps and I get to the bottom and the statues just didn't think they should keep chasing. I think they felt bad too." Sharrie laughs. "I got up, looked around, and there was a door. I went through it, and ended up in bed."

"Wow. That's a rough one. You okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine, Rene. It was just a little scary. After what we went through, we deserve to know their secrets! So let's get going." Sharrie said as she prepared herself.

Cerene nodded her head and she got up and prepared herself as well. What the girls didn't realise, was that they had gone through this before. A few times in fact. The house had them in a loop and they weren't able to get out. During those 'dreams' that they had, they were really just doing chores, eating, tending to hygiene needs and doing their daily duties. Eventually, they just stopped trying to figure out the secrets. Maybe it wasn't time. Hopefully they figured out a way around it soon. They deserve to know the truth.
