Chapter 24 - Psychic Guidance

Morning came, and Eva leapt out of her bed. "Finally!" She said. After she got her classes over with, she went back to the recreational office. "Alright, Ms. Eva…" The staff lady began. Eva sat eagerly. "I wasn't able to find an organization in this area that holds services for your particular needs. But, there is a well respected psychic that, to be honest, I got a reading or two from myself." "Is this psychic good?" Eva wondered. "Oh, she's phenomenal! Her name is "Lady Mystique." The first time I saw her, I got goosebumps all over!" She laughed. "When can I see her?" "Well, classes are over, so I don't see why you can't go now. I'll call over an escort!" After a few minutes, the escort arrived. He drove Eva for quite a while, until they arrived at a tiny house on a hill. On it, there was a sign that read, "Get Your Readings Here! There's No Turning Back."

As the escort drove off, Eva shyly walked up the hill. It was a little past sunset, and she passed by an adorable little garden that was filled with butterflies. As she got closer, she noticed the house decked out with crystals and little fairy statues. There was a pleasant, but unusual scent coming out of the door. As she opened it, she saw an old lady doing dishes. The golden glow of the setting sun revealed her refined wrinkles and her calm demeanor. She looked over at Eva. "I was expecting you." She said with a smile.

"Hi. I'm-" "Eva. Yes, I know." Eva grew wide- eyed. "Are you ready to get your reading done?" Ms. Mystique asked. Eva nodded politely. "Then come this way, please." She said as she led her down a narrow hallway and into a dark room. Beyond the veil was a small, dimly lit table. Eva could make out the faint glow of large crystals that stood like statues all over the room. There was the faint smell of a soothing incense, and calm music was playing in the background. "Where's your crystal ball?" Eva asked as she sat down. Ms. Mystique let out a wholehearted laugh. "I'm not that sort of psychic, dear. More like a medium." "What's the difference?" "A psychic is like a charlatan. I'm the real deal." She said with a grin. "So then." Ms. Mystique said with a loud voice. "Let's begin."

As she guided Eva through a meditation, the voices grew louder. "I better be careful not to give anything away, or else, this would just be a waste of time." Eva thought. "There's clutter in your mind?" She asked Eva. "Oh, uh-yes." "Then breathe in, even more deeply." They sat quietly for a few minutes until Ms. Mystique's eyes grew wide. "You. You possess a very strong energy. A divine one. God is with you." She began. "That's kind of vague…" Eva thought. "You come from Spain, I see." "What?!" Eva thought. "You travelled from afar with your family for a better life, but alas, your life ended in ruins." "Wait a minute. What is she telling me that the orphanage couldn't have revealed to her? I'm gonna give them a piece of my mind when this is over." Eva thought angrily. "Who's Leo?" She asked curiously. "What? I-I never told anyone about him!" "Ahh…I see. You have an angel for a friend. Wait a minute…" Ms. Mystique began to look solemn. Then she said; he is God, isn't he? And you are a Goddess…" "What's going on here? Who told you about Leo?!" Eva asked as she hastily rose up from her chair; half out of anger, half out of fear.

"Calm down, sweet child. Nobody told me anything about you." Ms. Mystique assured her. "I told you I'm the real deal, didn't I?" As Eva began to tremble, she took in a deep breath and sat back down. "So…God is the one talking to me?" Eva asked quietly. "Yes." Ms. Mystique said. "But there is nothing to fear. This Leo, he's in love with you…" "Then, why did he abandon me when I needed him most?!" Eva demanded. "My dear, he never left your side. I sense his presence even now. Grieving over what is being done to you." "Why am I here, then?" Eva asked. "Are you really here?" "Huh?" "You're dreaming, Eva." "What-what do you mean dreaming?" Eva began to panic. "After you left the hospital; after that tragic plane crash, what really happened was that you and your friends were arrested and interrogated by the President. Leo then made his appearance and announced that he was God. That the world was ending, and that your sacrifice in a dream is what would ultimately save it." Memories of everything that really happened flashed through Eva's mind. She began to hyperventilate. "Are you alright, dear?" Ms. Mystique asked. "No, this can't be happening…" Eva said as she ran out. "Good luck, Eva." Ms. Mystique said as she blew out a candle.

Eva found herself running through a thunderstorm. "The plane crash! Everyone said my family died in a car accident. And Leo! She knew about him! It's true!" Eva said as she stopped to catch her breath. She fell to her knees, looked up into the heavens and cried out, "Leo! Save me!" Suddenly, across the street, she saw a glorified Leo standing under a glowing tree. "Leo!" Eva said as she frantically got up. She ran across the street, managing to dodge a car, and fell into his arms. Eva blacked out.
