Chereads / The Quest Giver / Chapter 13 - A Dungeon

Chapter 13 - A Dungeon

Both Jerry and Quast had nothing to do while waiting for quests, actually they did, but they both didn't want to work out, well maybe Jerry did, with having more points into physical related stats he felt that the exercises were easy.

After being tempted by exercising he decided to run some of his thoughts away, so he put on his shoes and earphones, the earphones were plugged into his phone that still had a headphone jack, unlike most of the new phones that his classmates had.

He said bye to his parents and said that he was going out to run, the parents weren't opposed to the idea at all and sent him off.

Being absorbed in his running he ran and ran, he breathed in through the nose and out through the mouth, well that was until he noticed how much he ran, 20 minutes had already passed and he was headed towards the forest, a thought was spared and he decided "Why not?" and ran to the place where he defeated the slimes today.

After some 10 more minutes of running he was in the beginning of the hiking path, he thought how fast he had arrived, just about three times slower than the bus "Maybe next time we shouldn't pay for the bus and instead run to here." Jerry thought to himself.

Navigating the path was an easy task and after some time walking he was back at the spot, it seemed a little bit elegiac with no one there.

Jerry looked at where he fought the first strong slime today and then to his first injury on his arm, it was covered by the sleeve of a hoodie, he was reliving the scenario in his head, but that didn't last long since he was quickly snapped out of his illusion when something in the corner of his eye caught his attention, something resembling a blue particle, Jerry's mind quickly jumped to the idea that something was behind the bushes and the trees.

Trusting his instincts he summoned the Metal Sword and slowly tip-toed to check what was behind the trees.

What was there was so unexpected that when he saw it, he stumbled back a bit, it was a blue coloured portal and as soon as eyes were laid on the thing a window instantaneously appeared infront.

[Enter Athrad's Dungeon]

[Difficulty : Easy]

[Time until close : 30 days]

[YES][NO]

As soon as he read that without giving it a second thought he automatically selected "NO", the little window dissapeared but the portal was still there.

"A dungeon?! Well atleast now I have something to tell Quast." stumped, Jerry accepted the things happening before him.

But Quast didn't need to be told because infront of him also appeared a window.

[{User : Jerry} revealed dungeon : Athrad's Dungeon]

[Athrad's Dungeon]

[Time until close : 30 days]

[Difficulty : Easy]

But something was different than the one Jerry had, namely under it stood a description.

[Athrad was a king of a small country long ago, the town and palace where Athrad died was located where this city stands, his dying wish was to make him a grand grave so that he could have it safe in the afterlife, his people followed the orders and built him a luxurious grave, after hunderds of years the said grave turned into (Athrad's Dungeon).]

Quast was scrolling through social medias on his phone when the thing appeared, of course the first reaction was surprise followed soon after with confusion, with his mind working very fast it all clicked at once, when suddenly another window appeared infront of Quast, but this time it was the chat with Jerry.

[Jerry]

[Today]

Jerry : [I have found something called {Athrad's Dungeon}, and I am genuinely confused... it's at our forest spot, by the way.] - Sent 3:47PM

[Think of message here...]

Quast responded as soon as he could

[Yeah.., something related to that appeared infront of me too, I'm gonna come to the forest in about an hour so we can investigate this.]

It was the middle of the day and Quast got on his bike and rode as fast as possible, of course he remembered to tell his parents that he was going out.

After approximately 40 minutes of stepping on the pedals the Quest Giver arrived infront of the hiking path, he sent Jerry a message alerting him that the location had been reached.

Jerry was looking at his phone when the message appeared infront of him, the phone was turned off and put into a pocket.

"'Bout damn time." Jerry complained and went along the path to greet Quast, the thought of guarding the dungeon entrance totally slipped his mind, but luckily for him it didn't have plans to dissapear for another 30 days.

Both of them waved at eachother and Quast pushed his bike to the spot while Jerry was focused on showing him the thing that he had found.

"Should we enter it?" a nervous kind of smile was on Jerry's face.

But Quast didn't have time to concentrate on what Jerry was saying, he was captured in a trance by the portal, he put a hand on his face and looked at his friend with a tense look on the face "Not, yet. You are not nearly strong enough." The reason all of these occurrences happened was because Quast's mind was racing with information about the dungeons.

Jerry gulped and raised a slightly shaking finger "Isn't th-" the question was cut off as an answer came "It may be easy, but there are a lot of enemies in there and you are still only level 7, it's okay.. there are still 30 days until it closes." a pause "I believe that you will be strong enough by then." with a serious look in his eyes Quast looked over to Jerry.

Both of them stood silent for a little while, just to go over things in their noggins.

"So what now?" the first one to speak was the person that found the dungeon.

"Well, if you want to do something useful while waiting for the quests to refill you can always workout." was the reply.

A finger was stretched out and a hand was put on a chin in a thinking manner, it was Jerry's hand. "I gotta give you that one." he said, acknowledging training as a thing that he should do.

After that whole spiel was over they both parted ways and returned home, that whole day Jerry trained as much as he could.

It was now late at night and Quast put his phone to charge, checked if he had everything for the school day tomorrow and then went to bed.
