Both of them sat down and took out some waters and potato chips from the backpack and distributed the stuff.
"Say, what's this little hole in the medallion, or should I say a socket for a gemstone?" Jerry asked already knowing the answer.
"Seems like you already know, well if you get a gem that has any properties you can embed it in there and as you already know, it will give you the effects of the gemstone." Quast said knowing that Jerry already knew the answer.
"The similarities between the games we play are becoming more and more obvious, maybe this power has been spawned out of your mind and it bends to whatever you think of." Jerry supposed.
"No listen, what if.." Quast lifted his finger in the air "There was a little piece of the system in every human that is and was alive." Jerry was already drinking water when Quast continued "What if the inspiration for games and everything comes from the little pieces of the system in them? Damn this sounds like a conspiracy theory."
"Maybe." Jerry stopped drinking to say and then he fastened the cap back on the bottle and tried to throw it inside the backpack but he missed by just a little bit and it landed on the grass.
Quast took his phone out to see the time, it was only 2:34PM , he pocketed the phone before he opened the bag of chips and began eating, during the whole break both of them talked about worldly matters and if they could really change the world with the power of the system, of course they both knew that they could, but didn't want to do it because of how difficult it is and the risks it contains, but even if they were going to, changing the world was in the future and now was now.
When they were done with the break Jerry stood up while Quast remained seated on the ground looking at something on his phone, even though they were in a forest there was a little bit of network enough to connect to the internet using mobile data.
Because Quast had gotten interested with what was wrong in the world by his morals he decided to look at the news, yet there was nothing interesting.
"I feel refreshed, let's try another Mediocre quest!" Jerry said while flinging his sword around.
"The enemy doesn't have to be a goblin you know, I can also spawn you an enemy of equal power, like a wolf or something." Quast had put his phone away and stood up.
With a look of deplorability towards Quast, Jerry said "Hell no, I'd rather kill goblins than wolves."
"Fine, fine."

As expected there wasn't a random reward anymore.
"With this quest I'll level up." Jerry thought.
The goblin that had only one goal in life and that goal was to attack started running in Jerry's direction with both hands on the handle of the brand new wooden club.
Jerry had a plan in mind, and that was to use Slash on an unguarded spot of the goblin, the club crashed into the grassy ground and Jerry evaded just in time, the dirt was dented a little bit and had become firmer because of the strong hit from the goblin.
As Jerry was traversing his way to the spot where the goblin was defenseless he stopped and decided to hit the head, his Metal Sword started glowing and he aimed for the head, but the goblin was fast and it turned around with the wooden club for a guard.
When the sword made contact with the wood, a thought went through Jerry's mind, he instantly knew that the Slimy effect had activated and that combined with Slash destroyed the goblin's weapon, it now had mostly the handle remaining.
Jerry decided to grasp the moment where his enemy was still confused because of the sudden destruction of its weapon and he aimed for the throat as he swung, the quest was now completed and the goblin dropped only 10 coins this time, and a level had been gained.

"Let's gooo, level up!" Jerry shouted.
"We now have 30 coins, the stronger the enemies are the more coins they will drop, how much coins they drop depends on chance too." Quast added.
"Yeah, so coins aren't only from quests." and a nod. "Anyways, I'd like to level up to level 12 and then we can see what happens from there."
After that conversation was over 2 more goblins were defeated, and every time he fought, great care was put in to make sure that his new Slash skill had been charged so he could defeat them faster, it wasn't only Jerry that was inflicting damage though, since he was also hit by the goblins, but it didn't hurt as much anymore, because of the endurance he had gained from the accessory.
A sword could be seen slicing through the neck of a green creature as it dissapeared and a crystal was dropped from it.
His interface opened first, he had gained a level, it closed soon after and a new one appeared.

The monster core had a round gem like shape, it had a transparent white base with all kinds of colored streaks running under, a beautiful item, it reflected the light into Jerry's eyes as he picked it up.
This time Jerry was also recieving knowledge for what it could be used for.
"Didn't we just talk about embedding gems into accessories." the one who had defeated the goblin said while he was still recovering from the shock of the knowledge. "Seems like I can embed this into my medallion."
"Let's see for how much it sells first." the shop window was pulled up and they went to the Sell tab.

"Okay that's not that much." Jerry said. "Seems like I can also upgrade my Metal Sword with it." a smile grew on his face. "But I think I will combine it with my medallion."
"Ok." was the response.
He took the medallion in one hand and the gem in the other as he went to put it in the socket and in the next moment there was a shiny gem in the medallion, the information window opened .

Jerry felt tougher and he could control his muscles better instantly, the accessory continued hanging on his neck with the new monster core embedded in it, the light bouncing off of it into Quast's eyes.
