Chapter 7 - Chapter 6

Ahslin POV

I sat there mesmerised by his heartbeat and if I were to tell anyone, the devil has a heart they'll laugh and cast me out. I have found the answer to why we'd rather think of monsters as heartless; it's the easy way to quite a loud mind and killing is easier with that title held up high. It's funny sometimes when I think about the way in which father made us, with a heart big or small. They're in us carrying something precious in their gasp, along on a journey where we may never make it back. Lost in thought I boar ignorance to velvet skin stirring beneath my touch just like humans ignore the truth; they also inspired God. They failed to realise though father was the one who created and are a part of them, he also allowed all of us to be an entity separately. The feeling of warm lips pressed against my cheek brought me out of thought, Lucan condemning eyes pierce through my own looking into my soul. Though many would have called me captive it wasn't anything soft or childlike, I was his prey and had accepted the fate written with these very hands. Lucan eyes wondered around as though he was stuck in a dream; maybe it was both our wishes for this love or experience to be merely a dream, thought up by our wondering minds yet I remembered the pain of death's touch. My skin has mesmerized the burning sensation of his fingertips tracing, bending, shaping... His touch was one asking for freedom, help or hope.

"Are you going to ignore me?" Lucan raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow challenging me.

"I'll be the first won't I?" he chuckled in response.

"Oh little one, how courageous you are, why defy everything?" I smirked one riddled with evil and a sinister presence

"Isn't it obvious? Because everyone said I couldn't" a hearty laugh escaped from entrapped throat.

"An angel they labeled her based on beauty, what fools, they paid ignorance to the flames in her heart, sharp edges to her words yet they all gave into the sin lingering on her lips"

"It's a tragic story"

"in truth angels leave behind tragedy in their wake, evil seeks out pure and not all that's damaged can be recovered but humanity still seek them out instead of standing strong" our lips met in a warm embrace where they danced until lungs were robbed of air to long.

"Sometimes it seems you are the truly wise one" he just smiled shaking his head, "In truth it took pain to learn the lessons you know today"

We shared a kiss before he got ready for the day ahead, I looked on as his skin shimmer under the morning sun. It wasn't his sinful nature calling or whispering it was his heart reaching out from the depths he had buried it in and when prideful eyes met mine it sparked something inside each time. We weren't defying destiny alone but also God with our love yet we continued getting drunk on this new found poison. It is poison I drink greedily not caring for its destructive nature, he blinded me with his love in a way I never knew existed.

I groaned in frustration as my body and soul was at war; my body felt too tired to move yet my soul felt energetic and excited cause me to be a walking contradiction. My eyes stare at the ceiling as my mind wonders to nothing in particular. I got off my bed, did my morning routine before going back to bed. I had drifted into a peaceful slumber before my body jolt awake from shouting. Trembling hands pressed itself against a race chest, shakey breaths left my lips as my eyes adjust to the surround. Cleus stood in the doorway with a silly smile plastered on his face.

"Are you planning to stay in bed today?" He asked with a curious expression.

"No, just mentally preparing" he chuckled, "because of people like you, I have to mentally prepare for leaving my bed" he gave me a dismissive look before retreating.

I sighed know Cleus will be the death of me, on of these unlucky days. Why does he always try and give me a heart attack? my mind had no answers to this question. Stretching, I headed to the kitchen knowing he have already raided the pantry and took all the good snacks. He sat at the dining table devouring all my favorite snacks and beverages cause me to glare at him.

"Are you hungry?" my glare intensifies, " Do you want some?" he pushed a plate with a combination of snacks displayed on it.

"I want food" pouting with my best puppy eyes , I turned to him.

"Let's visit the King" Cleus said in a proper tone with a mischievous smirk.

I followed behind overjoyed to visit Layton knowing he's probably wishing for company. Layton's oversized mansion can be seen from miles away it's grim exterior served as a warning, keeping all wondering souls out. We entered its walls without problems as we navigate through the house. Cleus smile at me once seeing the kitchen and I felt true happiness. He order them to prepare breakfast for us, as we sat waiting Layton joined us. Layton complained about the amount of work he had to do as though he was a child procrastinating his chores.

"Ash, help me" he pouted resting his head on my shoulder.

"Can't" I mumbled emotionless.

"ohhh that's harsh" Cleus rubbed in my harsh comment.

Layton never hid his emotions from me, he wasn't ashamed to show his lust. He also never had a filter for his words, speaking exactly what his mind has processed. We spent the day in his office as he took his time scanning and signing documents. I've always thought it and how mortals think of hell with all its inhabitants as the very personification of evil. They are the unfortunate ones defined by their job instead of their personality, hated for something that needs to be done.

Someone once wrote, the hardest job is doing what you are told by the person everyone admires yet you still get labeled as evil, sinister or a liar. Layton did the works of father, he only exist to validate father's words and offers.
