Chapter 1 - The access Key.

Saburo Reiji sat on his computer, awaiting for a key from Raze Framework. A game company that produced award winning games, he was bursting at the seems with excitement as he counted down the remaining hours till he received the key in his email inbox.

Eventhough he had stayed up all night since he won the key, he still had several hours till it arrived he still checked the inbox subconsciously on his phone from time to time. Saburo looked around for things to pass the time.

He finally got up and decided to use the toilet, he still checked his email inbox even-whilst on the toilet. He acted childish for his age but who could blame him. Raze Framework only ever gave out a 100 keys for users to test their games in development, their rarity meant that it was a big deal if you ever won one.

Only given out in events, Saburo had entered one of the events on a whim, so imagine his suprise when he won a key.

Saburo a man in his 20s (more specfically 25) loved gaming it was his favourite past-times, his skills however were for the most part laughable.

He lived alone, to which his parents thought was worrisome. A man of his age should be looking to start a family right? That was their train of though for the most part, but it was the least of Saburo's worries. He thought of relationships as a weight which he didn't need to hold him down.

Plus he had tried dating in the past, for the most part to appease his parents. You can guess how that turned out, he was still single and his confidence in his dating skills were as low as ever.

It didn't help that he mostly used his job income to finance his hobby, many wouldn't call it a high income job after all, he worked in retail as a game shop employee which didn't help with his suitability for a partner.

He finished up with his toilet break, whilst he was washing his hands he looked at himself in the mirror.

He wasn't much to look at in terms of the looks department. His hair was a mess, he hadn't yet brushed his teeth nor got around to changing clothes. To which he decided he should get around to doing. After a few minutes spent refreshing himself. He went over to his fridge to grab himself a snack, opening it to find nothing much in it.

He decided to check his kitchen cupboard in which he kept his emergency snacks. He proceeded to move out three bags of crisps/chips, and made his way back to his room. As he sat down he checked through his phone and noticed he had received a message, it was from work....

"Ah sh*t, forgot about work."

He immediately called his boss's work number.

"Hello" was the reply from the other end of the phone.

"Hello it's Saburo." Pretending to sound like he was under the weather.

"Oh hello Saburo, did you receive that message i sent you notifying you about your shift? Since you may have to work overtime."

"Yes I did. Unfortunately i came down with a flu bug. I probably won't be able to make it in today."

Sigh was the reply from the other end before replying. "That is unfortunate, Thank you for calling me i will look for someone else to take over your shift."

"I am really sorry." as he pretended to cough. "I will make sure to go to the doctor tommrow."

"Make sure you do. I hope you get better." was the reply before they hung up.

"Damn am good." as Saburo smiled at himself at his achievement, he took a little bow as if he had an audience. His acting skills were truly exemplary.

He then hurriedly went on his social media to gloat at his friends at his luck at getting an acess key from Raze Framework. He then went online to pass the time playing a few games, such as 'Labrine Quest' which was mostly a maze game, with weapons involved.

The goal was either to be the last person alive or find the exit. The game was easy to learn but hard to master. The maze themsleves weren't easy to navigate as the walls moved, constantly changing.

He played with a friend but his bad mechanics was a hindrance for both of them. Saburo understood the game well, it's just his mechanics just weren't good enough. He either reacted too slow or didn't plan far enough ahead.

It would lead to him throwing out profanity at others though he was the one at fault. In the end he decided to switch games in defeat, though he performed poorly he still enjoyed himself, by this time three hours had passed.

"4 more to go." He whispered to himself in excitement.

He decided to switch to a fast paced shooter, where he spent his time blaming others for his poor performance, by this time his friends that he played with were used to his excuses and his personality so they were unhindered by his loud out-bursts, infact his out loud personality made it fun to play with him.

Time passed by as Saburo took glances at the clock. Wishing it to go even faster, three and a half hours passed by in a haze. It was around 9:30pm so there was only 30 more minutes before he received the acess 'key'. He closed down the game he was playing and bid his online friends goodbye.

He decided to watch a 25 minute game walkthrough to pass the time left, he brought up his email inbox on his phone. As he watched his eyes took quick glances at his email inbox on his phone. When the walkthrough finally ended he checked the time to see, there was only 4 minutes left. He then closed down the video and went to his email on his computer as he counted down the time.

When it hit 10pm he started constantly clicking the 'refresh' on his email site, till a link appeared from Raze Framework. Saburo felt his heart-beat quicken with excitement. Finally the 'key' had arrived.
