Chapter 5 - The True Vampire Bride Ch 1 Part 3

They all looked at each other and lightly laughed among themselves as if amused by my curiosity. The village chief shook his head to let me know it was nothing I did and gave me a dis-concerning look. Almost as if he had been waiting for this day to come. I sat there not knowing what to think. Their arrival had thrown everything off for me. I sat there with my mouth agape as I looked around, the other village council members were all looking at me with the same look as the chief. I just did not know what to think or how to feel about it. Was there some big village secret I did not know about? And if so, why was it kept from any of us?

Village chief: (Sighing heavily, he spoke as though he were speaking to one of his grandchildren…) "It is nothing of that sort. Apparently, you come from a bloodline that is extremely special among humans. Your bloodline has the blood of vampires in it that is dormant leaving you and your family members mortal."

My eyes widened at the information being told to me and I nearly stopped breathing. I could not seem to focus very well, as I fought the urge to cry with everything I had. Nothing felt real to me at this moment. It was as if I had been replaced by someone else. My best friend seemed clearly as distraught as I was as I tried hard to understand, the chief continued to explain.

Village Chief: "Apparently in order to help fix the issues between the humans and the vampires, a new queen of vampires has to be put back into place. It is the only way to restore the order that has been left in total chaos. That person…."

Kaida Endo: "Let me guess from your stares, it is me, right? My parents always said our line was important, but never told me what for or why. Dad died before letting me know much of anything and mom has always been to sick. It sure would have been nice to know certain things. Why is the important stuff always kept from those who really need to know? Answer me at least that much."

The village chief looked at me with eyes full of absolute regret, as if he had known the whole time about my family's special blood. Why is this happening and what exactly do they plan on doing as far as I am concerned. Hundreds of questions seemed to form in my mind as I tried to comprehend it all. As I sat pondering, the question in my mind was, "Am I the only one out of my siblings with this so-called special blood?" Slight dread filled me as my newfound role had suddenly dropped in my lap like an unwanted lead weight. My palms became sweaty, I felt my legs getting jittery, as my hands shook, the overwhelming urge to want to cry was getting harder to fight off. It became even harder to breathe each time one of them said my name out loud. Then the vampire lord I had initially spoke with began to speak to me as if he realized I was, to say the least, that I was completely overwhelmed.

Botan Date: (Turning to face Kaida's direction a little better, a flash of guilt on his face…) "Sorry to spring this on you so suddenly. And I am more than aware it is a lot to take in all at once, but rest assured, everything being spoken of here is true. And YOU are the key to setting things back to a proper order. Or at the very least, stopping anymore from being turned."

Kaida Endo: (Looking directly at Botan, anger spilled from every word…) "Why me, I have other siblings, is it only me? How are you so sure it is just me? I have other siblings you know. Several as a matter of fact."

The vampire lord looked perplexed for a few moments then spoke to the chief. Apparently, what I spoke had some merit to it. I mean after all, if our family line is the key, surely, I am not the only one, maybe one of the others could be it as well. He raised an eyebrow to what I said as he seemed to ponder what I had said. Looking to the others with a nod of his head.

Botan Date: "Your words are more than accurate. To prove which one it is, can you please have her siblings come to this meeting place to make sure of our statement. That way there is no misunderstandings whatsoever."

The chief looked puzzled only for a brief moment but nodded his head in agreement. Looking toward my friend Kaido, he gestured with his chin as if to say, "Go and bring them all here now." My friend got up, lightly bowed, and took off running. The only sound for the moment was the hoofs beating the ground from his horse. We all sat and discussed peaceful matters as we waited for my friend to return with my siblings. I sat barely joining in as my unwanted fate was drawing even closer now. My throat felt completely dry each time my name passed one of their lips. After an hour, my friend returned with my siblings. And for the briefest moment, Kaido' s face looked almost relieved. But that would not last long. With puzzled looks on their faces, I walked up to them beckoning them to follow me. I simply gave them "the do not ask questions" look as they followed me without any more questioning looks. We all then looked at the chief with slight hesitation, he only smiled softly in return as if to say, "It will now begin." Turning around, I looked at my siblings with a nod. Trying to reassure them the best I could. My sisters and brothers waited with bated breath. Our futures in the hands of men we never even met before, not just any men but pure blood vampires of all things. My siblings, so visibly worried, just sat there with silent expressions. Not even sure if they should move let alone breathe at this moment. Turning to Botan, I spoke directly.
