Elizabeth was always a strange and unusual child growing up. She was quite skinny and pale for her age;and had dark chestnut hair and pacific blue eyes. She never really fit in at school or at home and was always left out of everything, birthday parties, group projects, and even family gatherings. She never really liked her family though, Her parents would always yell at her whenever she did anything wrong and sometimes her mom would hit her and tell her to lie to anyone who asks about her bruises, it didn't make it any easier for her since they favored her little sister Emma over her every time.
But Elizabeth never complained about it in fear of her parents treating her even more harshly than they already do but through every yell and every hit she would always stay silent.
And all because of her powers. She has had these powers ever since she was born, no one really knows how she got them or what they are but they do know that no one can ever know about them.
They don't allow her to use them at all but sometimes when she's alone she would have a little fun with them for a while. Sometimes she wishes she never had them then maybe her family would like her.
But little did she know that these powers would save the world someday.
But more on that later
Right now Elizabeth and Emma were home alone while their parents where at work. They didn't really trust Elizabeth near her sister; or anyone for that matter, but no one they knew where available too look after them so this was there only choice.
Emma was currently playing with her toys in the living room while her sister was doing homework next to her; even though there was a week until school started, Elizabeth always liked getting a head start in school that gave her more time to work on controlling her powers.
After she was done with everything she had a strong desire to use her powers but her sister was in the room and neither of them where allowed to move.
Emma's not looking. Maybe if I just...use it for a bit. She thought as a tiny spark flew out of her hand and hit one of her sisters toys.
"What are you doing!" She shouted frantically stepping further away from Elizabeth.
"No-nothing I was just-
"Mom said to not use your powers" she informed crossing her arms.
"I know that!"
"She also said that if anything happened because of your magic she is going to put you up for adoption"
"No she won't" she knew that it was probably true but she fought back anyway.
"Will too"
"Will not"
"Will too she said it herself"
"Whatever"
"Doesn't even matter, no one's going to take you in anyway" she picked up her toys going to play elsewhere.
At that sentence Elizabeth clenched her fists as it replayed in her mind. She felt her pulse rushing and a hot rage blowing up inside of her. Just because she stayed silent doesn't mean that she didn't get easily mad especially when other kids make fun of her. It was after she looked at her sisters terrified faced did she realize the purple mist flowing around her, she tried to make it stop but it only got worse in the process.
"Stop doing that!" Emma cried.
"I'm trying!" She swatted her hand around hoping it will stop but nothing happened; After all this kind of thing never happened before.
Just then her parents walked in dropping what they had in the their hands having terrified looks on their faces.
Emma ran over to them burring her face in her mother's dress; her dad slowly approached Elizabeth trying to make her stop.
"Elizabeth stop this!" Her father yelled.
"I don't know how" she yelled back in a shaky voice.
"ELIZABETH!"
It was her fathers cold and demanding voice that struck fear into her body which made her stop immediately. She was now standing in the middle of the living room trembling in fear as she looked at her family's scared and disgusted faces.
"This. This is why we can't trust you on your own, because of these...these powers of yours. Look at your sister, you could have killed her!" Her mother exclaimed holding a weeping Emma.
"I'm...I'm sorry, I-I didn't mean... mean to"
"Go to your room and stay there. Right now" her mother demanded in a cold voice.
"But I-
"Now!"
And without another word she quickly ran upstairs to her room and shut the door behind her. She looked at herself in the mirror and saw that her eyes where now a very dark shade of purple. Her lips trembling as tears ran down her cheeks, she sat on the floor hugging her knees and rocking herself back and forth. As more tears came, more thoughts whirled through her head.
Why did this happen to me
Why can't I just be normal
Why am I such a freak
Why can't my family love me
She continued to cry for a while until she finally stopped when she heard her parents talking in their room which was next to hers; and the walls where a bit thin so it was easy for her to hear the conversation.
"What are we going to about her Larry" she started.
"Unless there's a way to get rid of her powers I don't know" Larry paced around the room pinching the bridge of his nose.
"She's becoming to dangerous, we can't keep her near Emma"
"What would you suggest?"
"Maybe some other family can take her in"
"Come on Amanda get real, who's going to take her in"
"I mean we don't necessarily need to tell them about her powers"
"Even if we don't I'm pretty sure they'll figure it out sooner or later; She's very hotheaded she could burst out at any moment"
"School starts in a week, we can't have her going there knowing that she might blow up at any moment"
They stayed in silence for a few second when suddenly Amanda got an idea.
"What if we gave her sedatives"
"That....could work" he considered.
"Yes, we'll see how it goes the first week and if nothing goes wrong by then we'll continue it this way"
Of course they want me fixed. Nothing I ever do pleases them.
And for ten years that's how she lived, never using her powers ever again. Until that one faithful day when she graduated college and got a call from an anonymous person that claimed to be agent Nicholas Brown director of The Federal Department Of Crime.
