The trip to Rome began; the three spies were now boarded on the plane sitting in the last row, they planned on finding out more about this mysterious person and where he is.
"How long is this flight again?" Peter asked getting in his seat after Elizabeth.
"Nine hours" she responded.
Peter groaned pulling it out his computer just when a flight attendant spotted him.
"Excuse me sir, I'm going to have to ask you to put your device back in your bag until we take off"
"Yeah, sure. Sorry"
"That's an actual rule?" He said putting his computer back into his bag.
"Yeah..what, have you never been on a plane before?" Elizabeth said.
"...no"
"Really? You've never been outside of New York before?"
"My parents are a bit paranoid; so we could never do a lot of fun things when I was a kid, one of those things is traveling or going to the beach, or the amusement park, or even restaurants...You know what I take it back they were a lot paranoid"
"Where do they think you are now?"
"They think I'm in queens with my 'wife' working as an architect"
"You've lied to your parents for five years!" she widened her eyes.
"Well I can't just tell them I'm a spy, it's against the rules plus they might literally have a heart attack"
"I meant about your fake wife"
"They where always bugging me and interfering in my life and when I got this job I had to move so I made up a lie that I have been seeing a woman called Margaret and we eloped, and because they're scared of leaving the neighborhood I never had to introduce them. Surprisingly"
"They never asked to see her?"
"I sent them photoshopped pictures"
"Impressive"
"What about you? What do your parents think your doing?"
"Oh my parents, well they...they couldn't give two craps about what I'm doing to be honest" she faked a smile.
"Consider yourself lucky"
"Yeah...lucky" she muttered throwing her head back.
"Flight attendants, prepare for takeoff please. Cabin crew, please take your seats for takeoff" they heard the pilot say as the plane began to move.
This is it. There's no going back now, Damn I wish my parents could see me.
Two hours had already passed by before they decided to start working on the case.
"Okay so we know that he lives on a certain deserted island in the middle of nowhere" peter started to explain.
"That reassuring" Elizabeth commented.
"It's not much but it's a start, I've located every possible place he could be hiding out..."
"And?"
"And found nothing"
"You know he may not even be on an island, what if those records where false. For all we know he could be changing his location every hour" John said.
"The important thing is that we find his minions or whatever and get clues out of them" said Elizabeth.
"And exactly how to plan on finding them?"
"All of them are wearing a weird crown symbol on them. I've located a few possible places to where they might be and there's a certain weapon that their guarding, I don't know what it is but it's extremely dangerous"
"Do you actually think that they'll be stupid enough to go around wearing them out in the open?"
"Of course not but that doesn't mean that they don't have it in them in different ways"
"Like a tattoo?" Asked peter.
"A tattoo, a picture on their phone, anything. They can't go anywhere without it on them, it's how they identify themselves"
"And you know this how?"
"I've got my ways"
"So what now; do we just keep searching?" Peter said.
"For the meantime, yes. Anything you can find just as long as it helps us" she replied.
They spent the next six hours searching and searching but found nothing useful. Eventually peter fell asleep leaving Elizabeth and John in an awkward silence; with many thoughts running through their heads. All Elizabeth was hoping for is that they don't have a conversation about, anything really. Unlike John, who just wanted her to forgive him.
"...so" John broke the silence.
"What?" Elizabeth responded exasperatedly.
"Are we gonna keep avoiding this?"
"Yes" she responded coldly.
"Come on Foster we can't keep doing this"
"For your information I am still holding a grudge from fifteen years ago, this can go on for a very long time"
"Look if we want this team to work out we have to...wait, fifteen years?? Really!?"
"Can we just drop the subject..."
"No, we can't. I just don't get why this bothers you so much; yes I looked through your personal information and whatnot but I apologized for it and usually when someone apologizes the other forgives, so can we just skip all of this and start over?" He pleaded.
She stayed silent for a second before responding, "we'll talk tomorrow" she turned the other way looking out the window.
"You're really not an easy person"
"What's that supposed to mean?" she said still not looking at him.
"You are the type of person who pushes everybody away; you think you can do everything by yourself but you can't, and you just keep on lying to yourself thinking you'll feel better. Wether you like it or not you're getting our help. and you know you need it"
"We'll talk about this later. Goodnight"
"You know I'm right"
she clenched her jaw holding in her powers. She knew he was right about one thing; she always pushes people away. And because of one simple reason...her family.
What neither of them knew is that somewhere in the middle of an abandoned lair stood a black figure watching them through a magic ball.
"So, these are the hero's that are supposed to defeat me" he said, laughing in a deep voice. "Johnson!" He called.
"Yes, sir" a scrappy looking man responded.
"Gather your men and go get me these people. Alive!"
"Right away sir!" He saluted walking away.
"I've got something special planned for each and every one of you" he grinned evilly.
The following morning the trio made their way to a hotel called 'Hotel Concorde'. They took their key and headed straight up to their room; the place was a very charming, the balcony had a beautiful view of the clear blue ocean and a tall green hill, and the rooms were very neat and impersonal. The looked around the room in awe putting there stuff down.
"This place is awesome" Peter commented.
"Yeah, it really is" Elizabeth agreed checking out the bedrooms. "Wait, why are their only two beds?"
"Yeah about that..."
"What did you do Thompson?"
"Nothing, it's just that I could only book a room with two beds, so...one of us is going to have to share with the other"
"Of course we do" she muttered. "We'll worry about that later; right now we need to get to work"
"Where are we going first?" John asked her.
"Our first stop is 'the Vatican museum' —she pulled out a hologram of the place from her phone—there we will find a few of his guards hiding some kind of weapon and hopefully clues onto where he is"
"And how do you plan on getting in there?" John questioned. "The tickets cost like seventeen euros here....I think?"
"That's why we're sneaking in, at night. They'll be easier to catch then"
"What if we get caught" peter said.
"We won't get caught because we are professional spies, if we do get caught that will cause us to loose time and if we loose time we could fail this whole mission allowing Anderson to gain more time which will result in him winning with whatever weapon he has planned; hence him taking over the world and killing all of us. And none of us want that to happen now don't we?" She ranted in one breath causing the other two to look at each other in anxiousness and concern.
"That's a...a pretty high expectation, don't you think?" John told her.
"Well it could come true if we don't succeed"
"Okay, so we've got the place, now how are we sneaking in?"
"You and I will sneak into the place using these weapons—she pulled out two guns from her bag and handed one to John— if you push the button on the side it will allow you to open any locked door other than that it's a normal gun, well not so normal. Plus assuming you learned from our sessions you'll be able to handle yourself in a fight, right?"
"What do you mean by not so normal..."
"And peter I can tell by the sweat dripping down your face you'd prefer it if you stayed behind—he nodded as she continued—well that doesn't mean you're not useful. You will be leading us to where the weapon is and warn us if there any guards onto us" she explained.
"Can I speak now?" John said.
"Yes"
"Don't you think we should all have a say in the plan?"
"Okay, have you got any better ideas?" She tilted her head.
"Well I...no, but what I meant was; your plan is fine it's just..."
"It's just what?"
"...nothing" he gave up.
"Then if there isn't a problem Mr.Williams I suggest we all go prepare ourselves"
