"Just through here" said agent Brown leading Elizabeth into a room to meet her new team.
"Agent Foster, this is Peter Thompson—he pointed to a nerdy looking man who was wearing glasses, he had messy ash brown hair and olive green eyes and judging by the bags under his eyes he hasn't slept in days—and I take that you've already ran into John Williams. Agents this is Elizabeth foster she will be accompanying you in this mission" he introduce them as they shook hands.
"May I ask what it is you do?" She asked them.
"Well I am a field agent-Peter started explaining-I harness smartphones across country's to collect photos, videos, and information about retail operations, products, and shoppers"
"And I am an informant; I provide privilege information about a person or organization to the agency" John explained.
Oh....no
"I see...Brown can I have a word with you? in private"
"Of course"
She dragged him to the corner of the room and spoke in a hushed voice.
"With all due respect agent, are you sure you should send those two with me?" She whispered.
"I don't understand, is there something wrong with them?"
"There's nothing wrong with them, it's just that...they don't look like the fighting material"
"Fighting material?" He raised his eyebrows.
"You know what I mean, this is a dangerous mission and they're from a different field of experience"
"For your information, Thompson can help you with tracking down Anderson and Williams can manage to find information about him and his spies; now tell me how are they not right for this mission"
"I thought you were sending people with me because I can't defeat this man alone" she said starting to get testy.
"Then I trust you'll have no problem with training one of them" he smiled.
"Uhh what!" She yelled quietly. "That's not what we discussed"
"Well since they're not 'fighting material' I trust you can have at least one of them ready in five days"
"Well why one of them?"
"Oh that option is totally up to you, if you can't train both in time you can pick one. You have five days to get them and yourself ready, that is all the time I am giving you"
"This wouldn't have been a problem if you'd just let me do this on my own" she said with an exasperated sigh.
"Agent Foster when will you learn that sometimes you need to rely on others for help?"
"Last time I did it didn't go so well"
"Well you can rely on these two"
"Fine, I'll train them" she gave up knowing there's no way that she'll win this argument.
There's just no beating him is there.
"Oh and just a little piece of advise, looks can be deceiving. Keep that in mind"
How was that at all relevant?
"Now agents-he said getting their attention-gather around because I'm only going over this plan once"
He explained how they will be training and gathering as much information as they can in the amount of five days. He told them how Lawrence Anderson had spies around many different countries and their job is to locate every single one of them and figure out Andersons whereabouts and take him down.
Their first stop was going to be Italy, and so far they know that there are only five of his spies there.
After he was done explaining the plan he dismissed them giving Elizabeth a look telling her to start with the training.
"Hey, so listen; I don't want to do this anymore than you do but Brown told me I have to train you both for this mission" she confronted her teammates.
"Excuse me but is there a way I can sit this one out?" Peter said nervously.
"Why?"
"Well as you can probably tell I lack....any upper body strength" he said gesturing to himself.
"We can fix that" she suggested.
"I'd really rather stay behind a desk"
"Suit yourself, Williams?"
"I'm in. When do we start?"
"Right now" she said gesturing for him to follow her to the gym.
"Oh! Well alright then" he said following after her. They took the elevator to the fifth floor, entering the gym which was a huge place, it had all kinds of weights, machines, and mats.
Elizabeth lift her hair up in a pony tail and took of her jacket leaving her in a tank top.
"Take if your shirt" she told him.
"I-what!" He said in shock.
"Are you wearing anything underneath?"
"Yes"
"Then take it of" she repeated.
"Uhh w-why?"
"Cause it'll be easier for you" she replied in an obvious tone.
"O-oh yeah, right" he took it of his face flushing red and put it on a nearby chair.
"Okay we're gonna start with something simple, can you do a sidekick?"
"How hard can it be"
"Alright then, show me" she watched as he struggled to get the right position for the move.
Nobody said this was gonna be easy.
"Okay stop, stop, stop"
"No, no I've got it" he tried but it only resulted in him falling down.
Elizabeth sighed struggling to cope with this. she almost decided to give him up but instead offered him her hand, he took it and asked her what he was doing wrong.
"Well for starters your back leg wasn't in the right position, your left leg should be back here and your right leg-she pulled his right leg above his head-should be up here"
"Is it really supposed to be up there?" He grunted.
"No but I wanted to see how far above you can lift it"
"Was it really necessary?"
"Yes, now you're going to do exactly as I tell you if you want to be ready in five days. This isn't going to be an easy mission so you'll have to work twice as hard if we want to succeed, you got that?"
"Got it"
"Let's get to work"
They spent the next eight hours training hard until he was able to fight well, but he still had to get better.
"That was good, you pick up fast" she complemented him taking a sip from her water bottle.
"I've always been a quick learner"
"Well you still need to get better, I'll see you tomorrow at eleven o'clock" she said picking up her stuff.
"Wait!" He called after her.
"Yeah?"
"Can I try going up against you?" He asked.
"Really, now?"
"Why not"
"Alright then-she put her things back down-hit me with your best shot" she smirked.
He tried throwing a punch at her put she caught his hand twisting it behind his back and pinning him to the ground.
"Is that the best you can do?" She teased him.
"No" he pushed her backwards knocking her down with his legs and held her down. "But that was"
"Very good. But you forgot one thing"
"And what's that?"
"My legs are still free" she kicked him in the stomach as he stumbled backwards she quickly got up as he kicked towards her head but she dodged it and punched him in the face causing it to start bleeding.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry I didn't mean to do that" she apologized fetching him a wet cloth and an ice pack.
"No, no, no it's fine don't worry about it I—ow son of a bitch that hurts"
"It's definitely not fine, it's swelling up" she took the cloth and cleaned the blood of his face. "I'm really really sorry about that, it was just my reflexes"
"It's okay really, you can stop apologizing" he took the ice pack from her and placed it on his face. "You are freakishly strong"
"Heh, well three years really pays of"
"Three years, wow"
"How long have you been here?"
"Five years. Me and peter started working here after a while in college"
"Oh you guys are friends?"
"Yeah we met in our first years of college"
"How'd you end up here?"
"Well peter was working on computer hacking and I asked him if he could hack into places outside the school, he managed to do it and we got a bit carried away with the process and accidentally hacked into this place. Agent brown was surprisingly impressed and hired us"
"How did you accidentally hack into this place?" She giggled.
"We didn't notice what we where hacking into, we thought it was some kind of weird travel agency"
"Interesting....how's your nose by the way?"
"It's a bit better" he chuckled. "I do have a question for you though"
"Go ahead" she smiled.
"What's up with your magic?"
"I don't really fell comfortable talking about it" she looked down.
"Why not?"
"Well for starters it's my personal business and I'd appreciate it if you would let it go"
"You know for 'personal business' Brown seem really involved in it"
"Let it go Williams" she said feeling the magic flow up inside of her; she tried hard to bottle it up. "How do you know about Brown and my magic anyway?" She looked him in the eyes.
"I'm an informant, it's kind of my job"
"Your job is to gather information on other people, who are criminals. What else do you know about me?"
"Only that you grew up alone in Boston but you where born in Florida and apparently you did some pretty illegal stuff when you were seventeen—
"That's enough!" She yelled. "Now listen here; what I'm doing in my time, what I've done before that is none of your business. You have absolutely no right to know about my past or my powers, if you want this to work out you will stay out of my life. So unless you want something else blooded up I suggest you don't mess with me, are we clear?" She threatened stepping closer to him until he was pushed against the wall.
"We're clear" he said putting us hands up.
"Like I said, tomorrow eleven. sharp" she put on her jacket and left him by himself.
She scurried through the other agents trying to get out of this place as soon as possible. she almost made it out when she heard her coworker Christine call after her.
"Elizabeth!" She yelled.
"Hey Christine" she greeted her putting on a fake smile.
"What where you doing in the gym?"
"Agent Brown asked me to train someone"
"What's the reason?"
"Just for some mission. Listen Christine this is really not a good time, I'll talk to you tomorrow okay" she said noticing a faint purple color on her hands.
"Wait, is he that cute guy from the other day?" She asked excitedly.
"Yes it was. Look I really have to go" she pushed past her friends desperate to get home in time before something bad happens.
She put her arm up trying to call a taxi over. When one finally stopped she hopped in it covering her hands.
"800 west end Avenue please" she told the driver. She glanced at her hand and began to panic; it was now covered in a purple color, if she didn't let it out in five minutes this whole street could explode.
When she arrived at her place she paid the driver and basically sprinted into her apartment. Locking the door behind her she closed the windows and let out the magic inside of her, when it was all out she fell to the ground panting.
She shakily stood up and stumbled towards the bathroom, she looked in the mirror and noticed how her eyes had turned violet again, this always happened whenever she was upset or irritated. She didn't know how to make it go away but she knew that it eventually fades in an hour or so.
This is going to be a long week.
And indeed it was; during these five days she spent them training and trying to find information on Anderson.
During the training sessions neither of the spies spoke to each other, John tried apologizing to her in which she always responded with a nod but it wasn't really convincing that she forgave him.
Peter was also trying to find information on this man however all he found out was that he lives on a deserted island alone, unfortunately he couldn't find out which island.
Right now the three spies were getting ready for their flight to Italy; none of them were looking forward to it but it was for the greater good so this was something they had to do. After all this person could be the answer to all of Elizabeths questions so she had to make sure that this mission would be a successful one.
