"The other thing is that you're going to file a case against Mr. James Ashton and destroy him permanently." He declared. This sentence fell on me like a bomb. This information fell on my head like a brick and tore my head apart.
I gasped! What were they even saying? Why the hell would I file a case against James and who the hell were they to talk about this?
"What?!" I yelled at Nathan and my nostrils flared in anger. My voice boomed across the room shattering the windows. My voice almost gave all of them a heart attack.
"This what is in sense of question that you didn't hear or is it a expression that you are shocked enough to contain your happiness." Mr. Alex grinned like he had cracked a joke.
"Don't beat around the bush." I said sharply. "Tell me clearly."
"Alice, why are you getting angry?" Mr. Robin said in shocking manner. These both men never encountered a situation in which they were shouted upon. That was very big for their ego.
I closed my eyes to contain my anger. Here these people were making very hard for me to live in peace. My patience was running thin. I reopened my eyes and decided to ignore the other two self centred and egoistic people
"Nathan, you tell me!" I glared at him that I wanted a full briefed answer immediately.
"Ms. Miller, they called me to make a case ready against Mr. Ashton because he tried to defame you. He wanted to destroy you and for this, we have laws. You can file a case against him and there is icing on the cake that he had already confessed his sins." Nathan explained me in his professional endeavour.
I looked at Emily and there was horror expression on her face. She had grown fond of James by now because when I was gone for two weeks, he used to come daily and ask about my well-being from Emily.
She signalled me to stop this all with her eyes. Her eyes were red and full of tears. I squeezed her hand and gave her a small smile.
I turned my head toward Robin, Alex and Nathan. They were all waiting for my response. Their posture was calm and composed. They were certain that I was going to comply with all their demands easily like old Alice would have done.
"And why would I want to do that?" I said with loud and cold voice.
"What do you mean, Alice?" Mr. Alex said with furrowed eyebrows. "James tried to destroy you so doesn't he deserve to rot in hell?" He said. There was edge in his voice clearly showing that how annoyed he got because of my strict and cold answers.
"I don't want to do any case on, James Ashton." I declared my final decision with cold voice.
This was first time in my life that I was certain about my decision. I was proud of taking this decision. Never ever in my life I would do this thing against James. I still owed to James. This seemed like stabbing the person who saved me.
"What!" Mr. Alex yelled at me. "Why, Alice? Why would you want to save a criminal?"
"Criminal?! James is a criminal? I see only two people here who seem criminal to me. And they are in front of me." I mocked them. There was shocking expression on their faces. I definitely had hit their sore spot.
"Are you in your senses!?" Robin yelled at me. There was raw anger on his face.
"Don't you dare to raise your voice on me, Robin." I gritted my teeth and my voice was deadly serious which sliced their ego.
They both were taken back and Nathan's jaw hung open. Nobody has talked to them like this. And I didn't repent talking with them rudely. They needed to know what their real place is.
"First of all, you both" I pointed at Robin and Alex. "You both are scoundrels who play with peoples life. Nobody can be mean as mean as you guys are." I said menacingly.
They jaws opened and they fisted their hands trying to absorb the humiliation that I was throwing at them.
"You guys are here all of sudden to rehire me and expect me to come back to you. Where were you people when I was begging you both to help me. I was sobbing and asking you both to believe me, Remember?" I shrieked.
"Alice-" Alex tried to interrupt me.
"Let me finish first." I shut him up. "Now all of sudden you guys are back. You know why they are back Emily?" I looked at Emily. She looked at me with sad expressions.
"They are here because now I'm proved as innocent. When I needed them. You know what they did? They both kicked me out saying that I was trash for them. They don't need filth in their industry." I yelled with tears in my eyes. "They came here with their so called pride and gave me a contract to work with them." I laughed humorlessly.
They both looked at me with guilt on their faces.
"Nobody has hurt me like you both have done. You both could have helped me. You both could have saved me." I said with anger on my face.
"Dear if you just listen to us—" Robin tried to come near me and reason me.
"Don't, Robin. Don't." I stopped him with my hand. He stopped and felt humiliated.
"James is better than both of you." I smiled proudly. "At least he was always honest. He never pretended and cheated like you both. I have no complain from him." I held my chin high and proudly said.
They both looked at me like I had grown two heads. They didn't expect me to say this. Nathan looked at me with wide eyes whereas Emily smiled at me. She was happy with my decision.
"Nathan, I don't want to have any case against, James. Nobody will question him about the whole incident. His post and dignity must remain same." I said to him. He nodded with acknowledgement.
"As you say Ms. Miller." He said.
"Can you do one more thing?" I asked him.
"Make a statement of me and submit it in which you write that I am not going to file any case or report against James. He should have the same dignity that he had before this press conference. His reputation should not be tarnished. After making this statement, publish it in newspapers and media. Everyone should be aware of this." I said to him making my final decision.
"Noted." He said with a nod.
"Also state that I've rejected being part of Mr. Alex and Mr. Robin production." I said mockingly looking at their angry faces. They both were literally snarling at me.
Nathan was hesitant but gave a curt nod to me.
"Thank you." I smiled at him and he smiled back. Emily was beaming with smile and joy was evident in her angelic face.
"Great job, Alice." She grinned at me to which I smiled.
"You're making a great mistake, Alice. You'll repent it." Alex said with a threatening voice.
"I repented every decision that I have made until now. But, this is the only decision of mine that I'm proud about." I said with confident voice.
They both snarled at me to which I gave them a mocking smirk. Serves you right.
"Emily, won't you show them the way to the door?" I asked Emily innocently and there was evil glint in my eyes.
"You have become so insolent, Alice." Alex growled at me.
"Unlike you, I'm not mean, scoundrel and egoistic." I seethed. "Leave now." I shouted at him.
They both quickly left my room and soon Nathan also left after taking my signs on respective pages so he could quickly start working on my statement paper.
"I'm so proud of you, Alice." Emily said and hugged me. I smiled and hugged her back. She was my biggest support through out.
